Brian and Ryan, this was one of the most helpful and educational videos I’ve seen for hunting gear maybe ever. Watching your caribou video the swamp bogs exactly mirror where I hunt in northern minnesota and understanding more about your boots and pants system really is gonna help me a lot deal with the struggles of wet and cold. I really appreciate you guys and this episode especially. THANK YOU
For hunts where I'm not as concerned with weight heated/electric socks work really well for me. It's warmer then hothands and some are rechargeable. Also you don't have to have the heat turned on so the double as a decent wool hiking sock. Have y'all tried that?
Hey could you guys speak about pre hunt stuff. Ie how ship or carry on a gun. Where and what needs to be done. How do you ship your gear. Is it on your persons, carry on. Is a bow and arrows different? So on and so forth
I hunt in really thick and really hard stuff, plus I do 15km per hunt per day. I always had low quality boots and my feet always hurt for couple of days after hunt. When I saw You two talking so good about Crispi's Lapponia I had decided that I have to buy them. I had saved 2 months from my salary to get them. Putting them on for the first time on my feet, I had realized that all of that Guess, Replay - casual footwear that I wear, cannot even compare to Crispi's boots. It's like your feet are in heaven. So thx You two for that recomendation and from now on, I buy only Crispi! :)
So great to hear hear reviews from you guys based on specific hunting conditions. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. I hope you’ll be covering some of the logistics and costs associated with getting your meat home From Alaska. Thanks fellas!!
Great.... Now that Lampers is wearing the Altitude they arent going to be in stock when I need to buy em! Great podcast, love that guys are willing to get into the mechanics of their hunts.
Talking balaclavas or neck gators you should check out first lites options they have one like the Sitka your describing, but the mouth part has little holes to dissipate and not Fog up binos
I wear size 15 so Crisipi’s aren’t an option for me. I have some non-insulated Kenetrek Mountain extremes and they are pretty awesome. Wish that Crispi made 15’s, especially in the Wildrock+. Great content in this pcast.
Caribou hunting, I like a boot that’s stiff but not mountain climbing stiff. 3 pairs of boots on a float hunt as well or while I’m moose hunting depending on where: hiking/hunting boots (waterproof), wader boots for my waders, and camp shoes (crocs)
Have you guys ever tested out the Kuiu boots and if so, how do you compare them to the Crispi? Side Note: Sitka Gaiter you are referring to, has two solid colors now (black & hawk).
Holy crap. M7 pants and an Origin hoody on the way. Merry Christmas to me! All your gear recommendations over the years have been top notch no fail kit. These better feel like warm apple pie!😂
The SG M7 system is awesome for late season or cold hunts. It is good to hear your feedback on it as I had the same feelings. I used the top and bottom M7 for late season rifle in MT this year. It was cold and windy just like you guys experienced, but the system bucked the wind very well. Great podcast!
Hey could you do video on how you took care of the meat, hides and the velvet on the caribou antlers. You're on a multiple day hunt, floating, lots of rain etc etc. How did you preserve the meat and maybe how did you get it on the plane, what are airlines requiring now. I don't see any big trips in my future so mainly I want to know how you do take care of this stuff on multii day hunts. Thanks in advance, love the shows.
Thank you for tuning in. After the next couple films we will have some podcasts out that will cover some of these topics. Thank you again for your support. It is much appreciated.
They take a 3600mAh Rechargeable Battery. You could pack a 2nd battery for backup if you don't have a way to charge it. Multiple times this year we were on 10 plus day hunts and never had to recharge the headlamp. That is even during the late season where the dark hours are long. We achieve this by running the headlamp on the lowest setting, which is plenty bright for almost everything you need. I have used the headlamp for over 51 hours on the lowest setting. It has been pretty incredible.
Do you guys think the Crispi Highland Pro would have been useful ? My initial plan for moose this year is chest waders ( G3 Sims w/boots) , Crispi Highland Pros and My Crispi Nevada Thanks for the great discussion and details.
They could be very good. We have had really good luck with the Peax gaiters over our boots. You may be a little more water resistant with the Highlands Pros.
"Thick green wool pants if you can remember those".... I STILL WEAR THEM! lol I'm lookin for one of these newer, hybrid brands to reinterpret wool into a more modern day pant. FL tried with the Merino but a lot of reviews claiming they're too fragile. C'mon Kuiu - you can do it!
When@@StHealthyHunter says it's a favorite piece of gear you can buy with confidence. Gear has become so expensive, and I've found Gritty to be an excellent resource to help narrow down where my dollars are best spent.
We had waders. There are just too warm and bulky while hiking across the tundra. The boots and gaiters get the job done very well. When we are in the rivers the waders were put on.
@@GrittyGearAndPodcast it’s not your fault! I’m glad I remembered you said you’d never ask us for money. I guess I’m not getting that bow or a shoutout lol . We still love you and the show. Please don’t stop the knowledge transfers. Myself and my son Roman are learning so much. Plus your in all our top places to see!!!
You don’t need to use the code to be entered. The code just helps me. Don’t worry about it-I screwed up when I told people about it. You’re all good. THANK YOU for supporting us and our partners!
Very useful guys! Thank you! I am currently rebuilding my gear set up

Thanks for taking the time to share this conversation with us guys!
Great to hear about this, looking forward to when I take the opportunity to go hit Alaska and what gear worked well.
Thanks for going over the gear y’all where using it nice to hear honest opinions about stuff and help me for my future trips I’m planning
Thanks

Great episode. Gave me a lot to think about as far as how to possibly upgrade my kit.

Beware of sparks from your fire though…
FYI - they now make that Sitka neck gaiter in solid green and black. New colors.

Great show, do the peaks lamps take disposeable batteries also in case you can’t charge them or run out of juice??

Would you wear stocking foot breathable wader pants with a good hiking boot over if did trip again?
How much did your pack weight for the trip? loved the first episode! can't wait for the moose!

What is the model of your Duckworth "hippy" hoody?
Powder hoody👍
@@StHealthyHunter thanks Lampers. Appreciate it.
Thanks guys….was just gonna ask the same question

Which origin hoody? First Lite?
Ready for some more Daniel Boone!
What TP and stove did you use
@briancall @ryanlampers you guys ever use LaSportiva Makalou? They’re heavy but good solid boots 🥾.
Thanx
Do the Colorado 2 shriek any
They will not shrink much.
Are you treating the Lapponia boots with anything to help with waterproofing?
We use bear grease or the Crispi waterproofing cream. Any leather water proof treatment works and will help.
How much was the tag ?
Which duckworth hoody does Ryan wear?
I believe it is the Powder hoody, but I could be wrong.
Howdy ya'll ✌
Peax needs to make a gaiter for someone like me with 22 1/2 inch calves... not a single gaiter maker i can find has a size big enough for me...
At least you have big calves 😔
@@tomascardenasg true!
just get two pairs and velcro them together. problem solved. lol ok ok jk
There weren’t any mountains, why not rubbers or hip boots on this hunt?
We had waders. There are just too warm and bulky while hiking across the tundra. The boots and gaiters get the job done very well. When we are in the rivers the waders were put on.
GRITTY
Brian, are you putting your pack in a duffle bag or just checking it as baggage?
6 months and the tread is cooked? I walk 5-15 a week. This will get expensive if we train what we hunt.
what is the go hunt maps discount code?
You can buy the go hunt maps and you will get gift card for their shop.. so essentially it’s free cause they give you back the money on their shop
@@chaseshingoose4177 wtf r u talking about im just looking for the discount code its probly gritty but i dont remeber
