Our Cornish ancestors took liberties with the recipe for pasty after immigrating to the U.S. We use potato in place of swede , otherwise as you demonstrated. I put a tiny grind of pepper in the center of each competed pasty after egg wash and before baking. You did an AMAZING job on yours! TY, Randy! ❤️

    Love this!
My gran used to hum mama’s little baby loves shortnin shortnin when she made biscuits. I hadn’t heard that in decades.
Boy did it take me a long way back. Thanks triggering that wonderful memory. I still have her wooden biscuit bowl.

I love your videos! Your personality is so fun! Thanks for all of the education that you pack into these videos. I learn so much from watching you. And you singing the Shortening Bread song brought me back to my Great Aunt who raised me. It really touched my heart! Thanks so much again for sharing your knowledge. Have a blessed day!

Cornish pasties! Yay oh brave cooking warrior ! Love these. Used to get them at the market but don't go so much these days. The cook was Cornish. She made them traditionally and also steak & kidney or steak & Guinness or with stilton. If anyone even tries to hassle you remember this is working-class fare made by loving but practical folk with what was to hand. So stuff prissy preciousness!❤

If you buy cheap mass produced pasties (no brand mentioned) ,yes they're 'pappy' inside and unseasoned. If you buy the hand-made ones (which you can get direct from Cornwall and come frozen), which are gargantuan lol they are quite different in texture. Genuine 'Cornish Pasties' are quite large, as obviously they represent an entire meal and the contents (like the ones you made), is hand chopped, especially if 'homemade' x

Can't be called " Cornish" legally unless it comes from Cornwall. Otherwise it's just a pasty. Plus the edges aren't even crimped.
