Love this!! I live in South America and coconuts are everywhere..tomorrow I'm going to my guy who sells coconut milk and get a few of his shells. Thanks.
I just remembered my childhood craft after seeing this. The coconut flesh was scooped out, and the all the three eyes of the coconut was drilled, outer shell painted and was used as a pen stand(turned downwards) to store 3 pens!
to be honest he just does that to make the bottom flat so if you really want to make this you can probably use a file to make the bottom area flat without the need of a sand belt machine

But they need to use those machines other wise it will break into irregular shape.. btw in other part of India we also used to break coconuts without any tools..

So, you live in place that don't have coconut huh? You should plant some coconut trees and in the future you could make coconut bowl by yourself! Good luck!
They are beautiful. Coconut is also amazingly rot resistant. I "lost" a half shell in some trench digging spoil which remained there for about 15 years, deep inside damp clay soil. When I eventually dug away that pile I found the coconut shell still in perfect condition. There was also some wood in taht pile which had disintegrated to mush.
i have one of these, which i bought, and they are beautiful. My country has the potential to mass produce these, but sadly, it's up to the public to receive them. Education on environmental subjects is painfully lacking...
What I love about coconuts is that every part of it is useable. Coconut fibres and chips are good for soil and potting mix for plants 🌱 the edible part of the coconut for food, milk and oil 🥥 and the shell to make these beautiful bowls!
For the miniature, I thought they were chocolate coconut bowls, like a dessert. I came for that appetizing recipe 🤣🤣😥😥 However, it is also a great idea!
Those are some sweet-looking bowls. My only experience with a coconut was when some friends and I got drunk one night, bought a coconut and tried to figure out how to crack it open. We were about to run it over with a car, but then we forgot what we were doing and drove to Taco Bell.
Well our plastic is really helpful for animals It kills thousands of animals per day And dwarf coconut trees totally don't give off up to 120+ coconuts per year And plastic is totally not killing off fish and endangered turtles and their totally isn't so much plastic in the ocean that in one part of the world plastic covers 5+ miles of the ocean alone NOT including the beaches that are covered in plastic
They should last a while, to keep it in the best condition clean it by hand, not by dishwasher, and use food grade mineral oil, like the kind he used in the video, you can get it at the home depot, where the paint is

The world turned away from these materials.

it starts with you
Go buy coconuts in your supermarket and do it 👍🏻 be the change you want to see
I hope one day this becomes an alternative for plastic.
These were very popular in the 1960s and 70s. Also bamboo laminate bowls. All kinds of wood bowls really.

Probably the most precise, yet complicated way to do this. Indians do it everyday with a machete and a knife.
Not only Coconut Bowl, in Indian villages people also make big spoon with coconut.

why to apply mineral oil? Is it compulsory? will it do well without mineral oil????? 😕 😐
Gifty Singh you do that to seal the wood
You can apply hot coconut oil or boil it in coconut oil and sun dry it.
Linseed Oil works too. Can be used on regular wood as well to make it weather resistant and seal the surface. Because it becomes a polymer.
