An interesting video Phil. Nothing will stop a really determined thief but the best deterrents are highly visible, like the Disklok and Stoplock. Whilst brightly coloured, the Armaplate Resolute is relatively small and locates almost out of view at the bottom of the steering wheel. A would-be thief might not realise it's there until they have caused damage entering the vehicle.
Hi Barry fair point. The manufacturer will be reading all the comments. These days little damaged due the digital devices they use to open doors. However I understand your concern. Thanks Phil 👍🙂
Not so much a concern Phil, as an observation. One other point I forgot to mention is that the other devices I named also prevent the not so uncommon occurrence of theft of the steering wheel airbag. I'm not sure that the Resolute would.
Cheers Phil, I had something like this steering wheel lock many years ago, I think it was called a crook lock, at the time I had BMW automatic and I forgot it was on , started the car put it into drive then realised I could not press the brake pedal, luckily I managed to stop with the handbrake and turn the engine off 😅, but the steering lock you have is a bright yellow, green colour so you can’t really miss it, 👍👍.
Hi BB. I remember thr crook locks. This is slightly different and very well made. Like all locks it is made to slow down the we be thief. Thanks Phil.👍🙂
Hi Phil &Juliet hope you well, great video demo of the Armaplate it seems to be quick and easy to fit/remove. You cant beat a visual/mechanical lock unlike the electronic locks the can read by a mobile device , seems a fair price too. Best wishes stay safe Jon & Karen
Hi Jon & Karen. Hope you are both well.. It's all about making your vehicle harder to steal. Any mechanical devices is worth considering. Yes it is priced reasonably too. Thanks Phil.👍🙂
Phil, thanks for the video / product review. It’s always nice to know whats available on the market. You are correct in saying it’s about layers of security. Anything to slow them down or make them move on to a easier target. Looks nice and compact so easy to store in the car or the boot.
Hi Phil, I might just invest in one of these and use it when parking up in remote places to do our walks. I have the steering wheel Disklok but never used it because it’s so bulky. Cheers for this 👍. Best regards, Rob & Gail 😀
Rob I used to have the yellow disc lock on my Sprinter campervan, yes bulky and heavy but easy to fit and a real visual deterrent. This product looks good but more compact.
Hi Rob. This lock has passed the same standards as the diskloc. Both are gold sold secure certified. I suppose its down to personal choice. The discklocs weight a ton and are harder to store in the car when not in use hence me taking a look at this device. Thanks Phil. 👍🙂
Hi Richard. That may be the case but they would make a lot of noise and they would render the steering useless and they have to replace it to move it on. As with any security device its about making barriers to slow or deter thieves. I hope what I have explained make sense. Most Thieves prefer to steal cars electronically these days. Cheers Phil.👍🙂
@ not really, steering wheels are very easy to cut without power tools, and it doesn’t make the steering wheel useless as you just have too small cuts and a small gap of a few inches to remove the device. A replacement steering wheel costs next to nothing if they selling on, etc. If you going to take the time with a steering lock just get the better one.
Ah well maybe you are not as old as me but remember a lock that was similar it had a hook for the pedals and the steering and it adjusted the same way can’t remember the name but your product seams more robust Them were the days G and Z and dogs
Hi GnZ plus Hounds and other animals. Yes it does seem like a version of the Crock Lock but a better made. I hope you are both well and the storm didn't cause you any issues. P&J🙂👍
Hi Richtea. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and choice device. Personally any lock no matter which you choose will help slow down a thief or make move on to another vehicle which is less protected. Thanks phil👍🙂
This looks like a really good product and I will be buying one when I get my new car! Thanks for the tip

Hi Simon. That is quite right having investigated motor vehicle thefts for many years I know that security layers really do work. Thanks Phil.👍🙂

Hi Simon. I guess I’ll have to at least give the Disklok a go. It’s new and never been out of the box! Cheers, Rob

An interesting anti theft device. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Noorman. Its worth thinking about as Diesel and Petrol are harder to come by. Thanks Phil.👍🙂
You can still cut the steering wheel to remove, the Disklok doesn’t have that vulnerability.

The 2 thin hooks at the pedal end look easy for a small battery grinder too.

Great video, its just a shame we need these things.
Hi Marc. Yes it is a shame but some folk always wanted they will not work hard for. Thanks Phil. 👍🙂
Imagine a world where people didn’t feel the urge to steal…
Hi John Now wouldn't that be great. Sadly someone always wants what you have worked hard to own. Thanks Phil.👍🙂

Found it “ Crook lock “ great name 😂😂

This looks way too flimsy. I’ll stick with my disklok
