- Repairing wonderful Fluke 87 V multimeter
If you have not working amp A and milliamp or uA ranges in your Fluke 87 multimeter!
I think this might happen to anyone, so please watch if you want to know how to diagnose and repair this issue !
Don't be cheap ! Buy proper fuses:
440mA / 1000V - amzn.to/3GcjtZw #ad
11A / 1000V - amzn.to/3BUQzuz #ad

Coming in here late but ... the different current ranges have different shunt resistance! The lower ranges have much higher resistances, to get more precise measure of lower current. Amps mode is about 0.1 ohms, mA mode is about 1 or 2 ohms, uA mode is 100+ ohms! so when the external power resistor is 8 ohms, the mA shunt resistance will have a noticeable effect, and the uA shunt resistance will dominate the overall circuit.
A good way to test is to put the meter in series with another trusted meter - current will be exactly equal, regardless of different shunt and lead resistances.
Great diagnostic and repair of those current frontend diodes, btw, very nice way to recover a great but abused meter.
Thank you for comment and good point about shunt resistor !
This is an example of someone buying a great meter and already destroying the screen by getting it cracked and then damaging the meter itself. Really cute. They are suppose t9 be repairing things with this meter and not repairing g itself.. all the years I have had Mt four flukes they are all still running with never a failure. Love these meters and they get all the care in the world from me in my investments.
Thank you for watching ! ANd I love Flukes as well :D
I did replace the fuse for sometimes, because of wrong connected wires (no warning, if switch is still in current range). Of course, the fuses are expensive, but cheaper than a repairing. After replacement some parts the acccuracy can be reduced, because we have no possibility for re-adjustments.
This is true, re calibration requires precise gear, which I do not have :(
Great repair, love it. i bought a used Fluke 87V which had this exact same problem and exact same failed components as yours. Replaced both of them and then it is healthy again like a happy puppy on my bench. 😄
Thank you for commenting, happy you liked it!
Whare did you buy the components to fix it?
Thank you
Awsome job! Had exactly same issue with a fluke 287 and it was same blown rectifier and diode combo 😁
Thank you! Happy it was useful !
Great video, thanks. The current reading from the power supply is probably the one that is less accurate. I've had the same issue with Fluke 45 vs cheap PSU.
Good job. My only negative comment is you don't use enough flux. I even dip the braid in flux alcohol before use; the solder is pulled instantly even from ground planes and the risk to stress the PCB traces is minimal.
Thank you for watching and thank you for good tip
What would be wrong with a fluke 83 that will not read capacitance? Everything else works great. Thanks John
What do I do if my OHM is stuck on 74.9Kohm? My Voltage Ac is off by 6 volts. I have the same one you are fixing.
Hi great video👍just a quick question if I may,I have fluke 117,and the beeper is very quiet, can hardly here it now,do you think the buzzer needs replacing or there is something else going on thanks
I think this is buzzer, or circuit connected to the buzzer.
Hello, I need a 187FLUKE-187 True rms Multimeter chart, thank you very much, or where can I find it
Hi my friend.
I have a question, I see the meter fluctuations while you use the AC settings, is that normal in this meters.?
Thanks in advance.👍🏻
I'm looking into this, I have not forgotten about you my friend !
Nice video, I have a fluke 115 f11 flashes on screen like normal, then it shows 4 dashes ?
Thank you watching, wow, never hear about it
Check this service manuals to see if there is anything there

Where are you getting the schematic. I have a fluke 335 clamp meter that was exposed to high voltage I am trying to fix.
Thank you for watching, please check here - mobilemodding.info/fluke-87v-amp-ma-ua-range-repair/
buen dia amigo tengo un problema parecido pero ocurre con las medidas de corriente ac y dc tienes algun video sobrr eso
Thank you for watching !
cool!
Thank you for watching !
Hi.
I saw some fluctuations while using the AC settings is that normal in this meters.?
Thanks in advance.👍🏻
I’m talking about the first setting in the dial.
Are you talking about what tou saw in my video or tour own experiences?
@@InsideOutElectronics in your video.
@@InsideOutElectronics cause I bought a used 87v meter same as the one your fix and it shows the same fluctuation in the Ac dial setting.
@@adanarceo4636 I see, let me run some tests, ok? What voltage level are you noticing this?
@@InsideOutElectronics AC the first setting in the dial.
Thanks for the video. Are you germanic?
Thank you for watching! No I'm slavic
Bro Please Link Download for scematic,, thank for advance

15% is a good enough fluke tolerance
15% is quite bad if you ask me :D
15% is horrible
it's either dis or dat.
It is usually either this or that :)
