I started forging my own knives about a year ago. Well my favorite knife is the karambit so I combined the clinch pick and the karambit. It's a clinch pick with the cutting edge on the other side and it has a slight curve of the karambit. My buddy that's a police officer liked it so much he now carries it with him when he's on duty.
One thing to consider with regards to ease of carry, is that with the new Omni sheaths, or even some of the aftermarket sheaths, you have the option of vertical carry. If your wardrobe involves a bunch of beltless carry, this is a very handy option. I alternate between the stock sheath and a vertical one from darkstar gear depending on what I'm wearing for the day.

The hot setup to carry the cobra is horizontal left side front. You will need a 3/32" hex key to reconfigure the belt clip. A bit of a PITA to get the screws into the top two holes on the clip but well worth the effort as you get a fantastic draw. Some folks criticize the cobras belt clip but i value a secure belt clip and the cobras clip is very secure making the knife hard to loose a good thing IMO.
Would love to see a comparison between these and the TOPS back bite, similar way to use in SD but much different blade geometry. The back bite sure looks like it would be nasty
It's the Clinch Pick for me. The Cobra has appealing features but if I'm in a clinch I think simple is better. I don't want to have to consider awkward blade shapes in a clinch, and the "striking pointy thing" would alter my fighting style too much I think, plus it looks like it could catch on clothing or do damage to things unintentionally because it adds a 3rd element of danger we're not normally used to having on a knife. I also like the smooth "egg shaped" handle that Shivworks has, it looks like you could manipulate the handle easier than the Cobras awkward design. Holster design is a big one for me too when choosing a fixed blade knife. If the holster is bulky then I won't even bother with buying the knife.
Personally i try to keep my self defense blades in a sub $50 range b/c i dont want to have to give $100+ knife to the police (theybwill take it if God forbid you have yo use it). However if that werent the case I wouId say just get both & alternate depending on the situ.
Yea that's stupid af. It's just a bs excuse to be cheap. You'll never have to use it most likely and in the event that you do, 150 dollars is gonna be the least expensive of your problems. You miles well just not carry anything and roll over for the bad guy so you don't have to pay a lawyer.
legitimate concern. I don't feel comfortable carrying around something excessive either. There's nothing a hundred dollar knife can do that a fifty dollar one can't. The previous comments are stupid.
About 2 years ago I was violently attacked by a man that beat me to a pulp and then proceeded to clap my cheeks for 6 hours straight. Needless to say, I wish I had literally any edged weapon on me at the time to defend myself. Now when I fart it doesn't make any sound.
Nice video as always and you are just a very cool and likeable man, keep it up! In terms of defensive blades I carry Skallywag's MDV Plus One. I would be very interested in your opinion about it. From all the knives I have, I think its design is really by far the most elaborate and purpose driven one.
I love the MDV Plus One. I'd absolutely love to own one, but they're quite a bit out of my price-range. Are you aware of any similar knives in a lower price-range?
@411 Outdoors LLC Great Video and Thank You for making this Video, I was thinking about picking one up but was unsure which one I was going to go with and the Pro’s and Cons of each one. Honestly I’ll probably end up buying both, Lol. Cause I like both
I have both, i put the same loops for the clinch pick on the california cobra, and prefer the cobra because it gives more options put i still take my clinch pick every once in a while
Have you cut yoiur thumb with the Clinch with your dumb riding down to sharp blade? Im considering getting it but i feel they should have left more room for thumb placement because of this possiblilty especially if god forbid there is a fight
@@SuperEddie0228 Watch Shivworks‘ videos to see how to effectively use in different situations and how to hold the Clinch Pick. It is well designed and need to have little bit training to safely use it.
I carry a Szabo Felony Stop on duty. Anti grappling tool. Used it once to cut a tow strap. $109.25 at Chicago Knife Works. The reason that I don't carry the Pinkerton Smilodon is it is too nice to lose. I lose shit.
Personally, the deciding factor for buying a combative blade is whether I can find a suitable training proxy for it. Otherwise it's just another piece of steel in my collection of art objects.
The names the manufactures give their knives can be a hazard in court . I carried a Boker Gemini , I had many knives that were as good or better . My reasoning was that the men that could have had my future in their hands were familiar with Boker and they would be more accepting of a knife they knew . The names of a manufacturer could be a liability in court . You know that lowlife prosecutor , if he's out to nail you to the barn door , will redirect the jury to your "combat killer 666 " made by Death Blades of Violence . Be careful and wise as serpents . Good video ! 👍
i carry the doubled side bladed Clinch Pick 2.0. Best of both worlds. But thats because its legal where i live. I also own the single bladed Clinch Pick 2.0 for when im traveling in states that i cant carry the duel sided one. for me, the clinch pick sheath is the deciding factor between the two. like you said, i dont ever feel like im wearing it, to the point that i occasionally reach for it to make sure i have it
Even the clinch pick guy says the CP is designed to create space to draw your gun. I'm not winning a knife fight against someone like you, for example, but the handgun was designed to be user-friendly.
(Just consider) Leo Espinoza says he disigned the California Cobra to be non-lethal. It's EXTREMELY effective, potentially lethal, and much easier to justify using in a courtroom. The same can't be said for the Clinch Pick. And the prosecution will have a field day highlighting the name "SHIV" Works.... Just worth considering for legal reasons.
@@411Outdoors The Ditch Sakit is in stock and actually closer to the Clinch Pick dimensionally and probably a fairer competitor. The Ditch Pick is probably more comparable to the Disciple. I went with the pick over Sakit for a little extra blade and handle at the same price, so that's why I recommended it, but their stuff is awesome IMO. It goes back and forth from my battle belt to edc belt weakside Scout opposite my AIWB CCW along with a Shivworks Push Dagger 4'o'clock. When it's on my BB or I'm wearing less I carry a WPS Splinter in it's place. All great options IMO.

Awesome!
Is it kinda similar to the Brous Silent Soldier? I really want one of those, but they're outta my price-range right now.
Hitting that pumpkin made a cool sound. It's like asmr, put it on a loop and fall asleep to it
Love it 🙂👍

That sounds dumb. Save your own life and you're worried about losing an extra $50+? Talk about not valuing yourself

That shape of knives are my favorite skinning knives. It's about the curve. And being small enough to get in tight spaces.

all knives 100% legal to carry, buy, sell, own and operate, double edged or not, concealed or not, in every US state. source: US federal law.
I know personally, I carry pretty much whatever I want

That’s awesome!
The steel is very important. Because you want the best for money.
Buy them both
Nice comparison, cheers!
Thanks for watching!

I prefer my Arena Accessories stealth knife, because of the pistol grip and finger hole. 🔫
Have you reviewed any of the Kabar TDI series? We in Law Enforcement used to love those. I still carry one from time to time.
I love the design of the TDI. How comfortable was it?
saw some lint on your shirt. My lawyers have been contacted
Haha
@411Outdoors excellent review Bro, I'm definitely spending the extra 50 bucks to get the clinch pick double, what a beast of a knife
Excellent knives, bro!
Yes they are!🙂👍
@@411Outdoors welcome, bro
I don’t know if you have ever reviewed this knife or not yet, but what about the Tops Street Scalpel?
Awesome blade! Never reviewed. Canku has a knock off of it

Excellent thoughts my friend!
SHIVWORKS CLINCH PICK THE BEST SELF DEFENSE TOOL ON THE MARKET PERIOD. CHEERS TO CRAIG DOUGLAS.
Own the cobra and the first clinch pic and will own the 2.0 double edge soon
Pls review fox 826 pikal karmabit

$100 more for American-made, inch-longer blade and doubled edges with the J&B Knife & Tool Ditch pick. Just sayin.
I’ll take a look at it 👍. Looks awesome! They are sold out

California cobra name sucks he should have called it espolon del diablo.
THE PRICE POUNT IS WAY TO HIGH YOU CAN GET BETER FOR WAY LWSS MONEY
I do agree they are pricy. I’ve never found anything cheaper that carries as good though. The Kabar tdi for example isn’t as comfortable
TOPS knives are MADE IN THE USA
Shivworks knives are made IN CHINA
Who do you want to support??
This should be obvious!
I get that👍 practicality does matter to many though
