Paul Vunak, still one of the best. Guys this was early 90s, so some of it might seem a little dated, but most of Voo´´s stuff is still applicable to this day.

One of the true American Masters. If Inosantos STUDENT is this knowledgeable, the man himself must be a genius. Sifu VU is able to simultaneously teach the "intellectual" and the "grunt" with his teaching methods. Clear Concise, and always explaining WHY and HOW something works, instead of just demonstrating it by rote. He certainly has helped me in my development and presentation of my art, and countless others as well.

@jbravo41 yep. It's applicable because it WORKS and Sifu VU TESTED IT . Ive said it before and I will say it again, Sifu Vu Single handedly thought a generation of martial artists HOW to present their material in the Video age. I dont know if he is credited for that, but he should be.

I remember sitting down with friends many years ago and watching a video you made emphasising about a dozen highly useful strikes. You were ahead of your time. They all worked when it counted. I am sad to see this video underwatched. The Inosanto group is now vwey large and diverse. It seems that a new instructor seems to come out every so often and takes viewers away from the prior group. Kind of like music. I have respect for your focus and effort. Ron Saturno

What happens when you fight someone that can throw a fast punch? How will you be able to grab a forearm? This works great in slow motion, but with a quick fighter it seems like this would not work. Maybe I am missing something?

Filipino martial arts are very combat effective; they are used by the military and various police depts. If someone is a very fast puncher then you will get hit. But it is about finding his weak spots in the few seconds you have to defend yourself. Filipino martial arts are about killing people and 80% of techniques are with weapons. Most of FMA will get you imprisoned but yeah it's definitely one for self defence. Just use it wisely.

@MrByaeger Its an unbelievable drill that "stays with you" once learned , I find, and enables you to "teach your body" how to react. Ive blocked stuff by "accident" just from doing it so many years, and it's actually FUN to do! LOL!!! Philipino arts are the best! I know it aint "right" to say that, but Ive found no other martial art that was as user friendly for my body type and disposition as this.

HUBUD is like a drug... Once you learn how to do some of it it is a lot of fun! and you just want to keep doing it, and you can do do anything from HUBUD. Joint locks, elbows, strikes, kicks, clinches and take downs. Vunak is the real deal. I also like Mike Janich from Martial Blade Concepts out of Colorado, he has some great material from HUBUD that is awesome!

Not taking anything away from Mr. Janich, but the men he was taught by are still in Colorado. Much, most, of what he teaches is from Silat learned from Uncle Bill De Thoures and Guru Keith Moffett of Kun lun Pai Martial arts.

and i thought Hubard was a neighbour, good job always like the vdo of paul. hubud looks like jkd trapping but i don believe in trapping cause a non wing chun or non jkd fighter dont care what you do there with your hands he punchs you again and again and again
