I'm almost 57, fine yet full hair! I have had 1 amazing haircut and it was done with a Razor. Moved away and never again found a good stylist. Wishing I had you in my life! ❤️@@StylesBySummer
Thank you!! I'd love to show your video to any hairdresser I go to!! I'm afraid they'd scalp if I did!😢😅 I understand completely!! Beautiful job. It looks so much thicker. What a difference and makes so much sense!!. Seeing is believing!!✂️💇🏼♀️💇🏻♀️😊✂️
FINALLY, someone who totally gets my hair issues and tells what to do on each part of my head! Now if I could drive straight to you!❤😊 I'm 57 and keep seeking out videos that explain this....first one EVER...so THANK YOU!
I've had problems with stylist hacking all my thin hair away. I stopped going to salons for 10 yrs and just let my hair grow long but .. finally now I can make sure the stylist knows how to cut my thiiiiin hair. Thank you... You have been sent by the Thin Hair Gods!
I’m in the exact same boat. I’ve let my hair grow for literally 10 years because I’m sick of stylist chopping my hair off. It’s now down to my waist and I need to get it cut properly so I’m taking this video in to next hairdresser and praying.
I love that the mannequin actually has thin, fine hair. So many times, I see videos that talk about "thin, fine hair" but the mannequin they're using has beautiful thick, lush hair.
I'm not a stylist, but I have very thin hair and stylists don't always handle it well. I tried cutting my hair with you and of course it's not perfect, but now I see what I wanted in my hair. Thank you, you make the best tutorial. Best regards from Poland!
@@evajawidzk2068 Oh that is nice !, Bestest regards than to beauty mix. familie :)"Polak, Wegier dwa bratanki i do szabli i do szklanki " (two nephews, both for the saber and for the glass" ) ;) All the best!
I’ve been waiting my whole adult life 4 this video. I’ve been in the process of growing my hair out for 30 yrs b/c pple keep giving me the same haircut over & over & over again. They mess up the weight line royally & they have no ability to comprehend what I’m asking 4. I even use the term “weight line” & they still can’t do it. Thank u thank u THANK YOU!!!!!! If this was a still photo I’d have it tattooed on my body!!
You are echoing my life story. I stopped going, well can’t remember. I say 20 years but I think it was probably more like 35-40 years. I just cut the ends myself and wear it in a ponytail, bun, etc, It’s not long despite all that time, only shoulder length. Another reason I don’t want them chopping off a foot of hair off the top of head.
If you had a salon and were in business anywhere within 500 miles of me, I would so be there. I stopped going to salons 20 years or more ago because I came out bald every time DESPITE giving them explicit directions on what I did not want. And what did they do--exactly what I said I didn’t want. My hair grows so slowly it takes me 7 years plus to recover from their mess.
Summer, this is absolutely the best tutorial I have ever seen for a longer length, layered cut for fine, thin hair! It is absolutely beautiful how you put in that many layers, brought out that much volume and movement, and yet left so much thickness in that mannequin's fine thin hair! Perfect choice of mannequin too, btw! As a fine thin haired person myself, point cutting scares the heck out of me... I've had it badly overdone on my hair before... but you smartly kept it to a minimum and it didn't hurt the final outcome at all. Dang it, I only wish I could have seen it last week, _before_ I got my hair cut!!! 😭 Not that I got a bad cut, but it was about as long as the "before" was here, and I went so much shorter to achieve volume than you clearly show I needed to. Well, at least the hot and humid days of summer are coming if my hair has to be on the short side for now. I am definitely saving this video for the future, though! You are so talented! This should be required learning for hair stylists because SO many don't know how to cut fine thin hair!
I’ve never seen a hair stylist bring out all of these tips for hair like mine. It makes so much sense for each section she discusses!!!!! I’m so glad this video popped up for me, I needed this info so bad. I recently moved to Florida and haven’t found a good person for our hair yet. This will help me not butcher it up until I find someone 😝
Hi Summer! I love watching your videos on thin hair and I wish I could find a stylist like you, in my area who really understands color and how to cut and style fine, thin hair. I moved to a new state and tried out a local salon. The stylist was nice but not experienced. She changed my base color to an ashy brown and then added highlights which made my hair take on a weird orange hue at the crown. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings and since I knew it would fade, I didn’t say anything. I went back in 7 weeks and I was honest about my thoughts. She admitted the color didn’t look good and she asked another stylist how to fix it. I ask her to cut a few face angles in front of my hair and she told me she didn’t know how to do that. Another stylist came over and admitted she wasn’t a “pro” at cutting, but then she cut a random chunk out of the front. I did not go back! When I called another salon and explained what had happened, the receptionist put me on hold and said she has a master stylist, but the next appt would be over two months out. Needless to say, I haven’t had my hair cut or colored in a good while!!😭 Thanks for the great videos and for “listening!” Lol Susan
FINALLY someone understands how to deal with fine hair! Finding a style AND a stylist who knows about us fine haired gals is damn near impossible! Not everyone is blessed with thick hair but we all want to look good. Thank you!
Hi Summer! I’m definitely using this video for future reference. Although most of my hair is normally on the thicker side, the recession area is thinner. Your precision cutting and adding just the right amount of light surface layers & face framing is what makes you stand out above and beyond most stylists I’ve encountered. Wish they would take lessons from you! 👏
I did hair many moons ago, and this is the best tutorial I’ve ever seen. Cutting the outer perimeter first and setting up a guide around the crown area is something that I’ve never seen on recent videos. That’s how we learned years ago Overdirecting hair to help compensate for the thinner areas is easier when you establish this guides. You do great work!
My husband and I tried this process for cutting my hair yesterday and the results look fabulous. Thank you so much, Summer, for this video. The nuance in the details that you've considered is brilliant - from the mannequin actually having fine hair to showing all the steps to cut and ensure that one is going in the right direction by checking with ends and the guide is super helpful. So, thank you and just subscribed to your channel!
My hair is exactly how you describe thin hair and ALL the issues I have. I am always terrified to get my haircut. Thank you so much for this tutorial! I wish you could cut my hair!
Thank you for the fine hair, side part, high recession/sparse sides tutorial. Can't take as much off the sides for the face frame as is possible on your mannequin, but I like the layers in the back. Excellent!
I have learned more with you than any other. You show, explain and reason your way of cutting depending on her type. I will always tune in and forward to my fellow workers your videos. Thank you so much.
Beautiful! I love it!! I just wish we had stylists in my area who understood fine, thin hair. I've had my hair blunt cut for years after giving up on the idea of layers. I've got hair just like the mannequin with the hairline in front etc. When I was still asking for layers, that was the first thing they hacked into. Do you have any tips on how to find a stylist? Or at least one that doesn't feel insulted by watching a video like this? Ugh.
Thanks you tech me tu cut thinhair i 'm hairdresser and i did'nt think there was a solution .thanks Summer you're the only well prepared to theach this technique as free education and not only. A big hug fromRoma❤❤❤❤
You are an amazing instructor. I have wanted this hairstyle forever, but couldn’t convey to my stylist what I wanted. Great movement in fine hair! I may cut it myself! Thank you Summer for sharing!
Thank you so much for doing this one. I finally fully understand how not to ruin my hair every time I layer it myself. I do a good job, but my last cut this month I did, I got out of control. The side front area is always my downfall!
Oh yes! Both of those are great points. I had so many clients experience covid hair loss. It came back for all of them but nonetheless was not a fun time!
Summer! Thanks so much for sharing your talent! I learn so much from your knowledge. I also want to share a little trick; apply volumizing product on previous dry hair ( about 75%dry) -and finish drying. You will see how much faster and much more volume it gives!!! 🙌😊
I stumbled upon you when I started cosmetology school last year. Im in a part-time program, and I'm just finishing up to apply for state board. Your videos have been so helpful to me. My mom has very thin hair and nobody ever cuts it right.I'vee only trimmed it for fear of giving her another bad cut. Ican'tt wait to use they tips and give her some layers. Do you have any scissor tutorials? Im a natural lefty who had to learn in grade school to cut as a righty. I feel like my layers never come out quite as nice because of my finger angles or lack of. Thank you for the wonderful education
I hate getting face framing layers bc it makes my hair look thin (& short). I followed this tutorial (I’m not a stylist) and it’s one of the best haircuts Ive ever had. Thank you!! For anyone else wanting to try this I don’t necessarily have thin hair. I have A LOT of hair in the back but my sides are def thin. Because of this, I did have to blend where the back section and front section meet a little more than what was in the video. The side blending is very similar to what you would do if you gave yourself the butterfly cut. Regardless the cut still worked on me. Although I imagine it might look better on someone with thin hair through out.
i have cut my own hair now for past 25 years due to these very issues. Stylists cut my hair in a standard way that always turns out bad.......... loved ur explanation of trigger areas to watch. i have thin hair in front area & top but thicker hair in back, so it doesn't look cohesive......im thinking of getting a bob cut as i have the weightline in back, just not so much in front
Look up triangle layers. For background, i have a lot of hair in the back but thin hair on the sides. I also followed this tutorial and it looks great but i have also had success with triangle layers when going for more of a bob look while keeping length.
Thank you for explaining the areas of fine hair to keep from thinning them. My question is, I normally wear bangs. What should i tell my stylist? I love the final look on the mannequin... The FULLNESS with layers. Previous stylist have told me that even though my hair is dark brown, it is thin or fine. Hmm...i will save this video as a guide.
This is excellent Summer; but how to we get these instructions into our stylists hands and heads. Such a struggle to find someone who understands thin fine hair problems
Same! I’ve had fine thin hair my whole life and don’t know how to communicate that with a stylist without coming across “mean, rude, etc” so I’ve only cut my own hair for the past 8+ years and I’m by no means good at it! Lol
I love your videos. I would love to see cut for heavy thick but fine hair that struggles with getting volume. Maybe it’s the same type of cut but feels like no matter what cut I get it is still heavy and hard to get max volume. Thanks
I have very thick hair that grows fast. But now that Im entering my early 60's, my hair is doing something strange. Usually, my hair has always been easy to keep. I say usually. But I do have emotional hair. When I get too stressed out, then my hair can just knot up into insane knots/tangles that I cant get out. It doesnt matter what I try or do. That happened once in my early 30's. And now its happening again. Ive used all kinds of products from the Beauty Supply. Nothing works. I dont know if my hair strands are becoming fine hair strands .... idk. But Im ready for a short hair style. Which is why I was watching your video. Im thinking I want some kind of bob cut, with long whispy's behind the ears, layers on the crown for fluff or volume. And of course longer whispy type hair on the sides of my face. I dont like my turkey neck. Thank you for putting up this video demonstration. It was interesting and helpful. ❤ ❤❤
What if someone wants a style like a bixie that’s shorter in front? Or if the person has curly hair that just has no shape if the bottom is really blunt? Mine is curly and looks better with a rounded shape at the bottom. I like the bottom to be blunt but rounded. It’s hard to explain that to stylists. I like the ends to be blunt, but the overall shape can’t just be blunt at the bottom . The manes by Mel pigtail cut gives a good shape. I think I like it when the outer shape of the cut follows the shape of the face/head.
🌹REQUEST🌹Exactly my hair issue. Wear long, fine hair at one length after numerous failed attempts to find stylist who knows this layering technique. Please, do a segment on how to locate stylist who knows these techniques and is willing to take time to make my hair look full and thick.
My stylist watches your videos with me to better understand what I’m telling her about how I want my hair to look. I have thick curly hair with some front recession, and have experienced hair atrocities over the years and want to speak up to avoid history repeating itself.
I love the back of your hair Summer! Can you do a video showing how to cut the layers in the back? How to get that fold curving into the center of the nape of the neck would be great! 💖
I have fine & thin hair & I'm 79 yes old thanks to a low thyroid problem. My beautician always cuts my hair so that the right side of my hair grows in longer than my left & I find it so annoying. Wish I lived near you so I could have "you" cut my hair. My hair is also very dry even though I use hair conditioners. I can't seem to find any beauticians that cut my hair. I have to wear bangs because of a high forehead. Sure wish you had a shop in Willby Hills, Oh.😊
Left out a word in my last text. Meant to say," Can't seem to find any beauticians that cut my hair right". My hair always seems to out longer on one side than other & I find it soon frustrating.
I love it but how do I tell my stylist to do this? What cut am I asking for? I understand what to say to them for the front but how do I tell them I want these layers and thickness??
Hey Summer, thank you, thank you, thank you for your videos!!! I've always dreaded going to the salon because I always come out with a haircut I have to fix, but since finding your videos I've cut my own hair for years now. I wonder if you could help with my particular hair type... I have very long hair, almost down to my waistline, and up by my neck I would say the diameter is average to slightly thin, but by the time you get to the ends it's pretty sparse. I would love to put some layers in it to give it some movement and body, but because it's so much thinner as you go down, I can't figure out how to do that without losing what little weight/ thickness at the baseline that i have. (If you have an email i could send you a pic to show what I'm struggling with.) I haven't used any heat on my hair for over 3 years, so I know I'm not breaking it off at the ends from heat damage, but if you have any tips on how to help care for it and help get the ends thicker, that would be appreciated too! (I'm wondering if the reason is so much thinner at the ends is just that the new growth after the previous damage hasn't reached it's full length yet) Any tips would be greatly appreciated
So pretty! I asked for this style even though my hair is longer and it turned out awful. I have a side part and the layers on the long side is one big layer. It looks like a huge step on one side. I can’t find a decent stylist in my area.
Where are you Summer? Anywhere near Nashville, TN? I don’t trust anyone with my thin, but long hair, and I desperately want this cut!!!! I am willing to drive pretty far for this. I’ve been cutting my own ends since at least 2007.
I have been trying to figure out how to communicate this haircut for years, I have fine hair and want layers to add volume but don't like the V look I often get where the only length is at the back. Can you give me the language I should use to communicate this haircut to my stylist? I wish I could go to you lol. This video made a subscriber out of me. Love your content.
Hi Summer, I have fine hair, and most stylists don't understand...I DO LIVE IN SPRINGHILL FLORIDA and would like to find out where you are located... I HOPE TO HERE FROM YOU... THANKS, PATRICIA
Thank you so much for this video now I just need to find a stylist who is willing to take this advice. I have been to 6 stylists in my area and even had to go 7 hours away seeking help with my hair but the worst thing is I have even been so desperate that I have gone to a different state at the suggestion of a friend. My thin hair has been hacked and chopped for the last 4 years. I truly miss my stylist where I used to live and I was certainly spoiled. Now I am desperate to find a person who can style thin hair. I wonder if you can recommend someone to me in my area?
Yes, thinking similar! The style here is exactly what I have been wanting for years. Must have tried every hairdresser in the area and no one seems to it right? Summers tips on how to explain are gold! I am taking this with me to show 'n' tell next time!
Thank you! I can't even take credit, she came like that and I did nothing with the color! I normally color all the mannequins myself but she was already too perfect to need anything!
Just found you on TH-cam. Really enjoyed watching this video for thin hair. Do you have a salon where I could make an appointment with you? Where are you located?
Wow❣️would be nice to have those professional stylists everywhere, not just on youtube!;)👍 🌷Would you show us how to cut hair for women with thin hair and have a little boldness in the front?, for ladies 60+ and still keep length of the hair up to shoulders… is that actually possible?!;)🙏😇🙏
Can you explain the difference between fine hair and thin hair? I have fine hair tons of volume and razors ruin my hair. It’s been 20 years since I’ve gotten the Sassoon cuts that work for my hair.
I have all these issues and I also made all the mistakes you are addressing here. (I am not a hairstylist but have lost trust in anyone due to hair traumas over and over) therefore, I have cut my own hair and made a real mess. I have the holes behind the ears and I have severe recession also... it is a huge issue for me. Is it possible to remedy such errors in any way? Ugh😢
You are the only stylist that understands woman love the swoop and side parts. TY for always producing great content.

This is excellent Summer; but how to we get these instructions into our stylists hands and heads. Such a struggle to find someone who understands thin fine hair problems
Omg! How could I talk to my stylist about this video without insulting her. I want this haircut and style.
Same! I’ve had fine thin hair my whole life and don’t know how to communicate that with a stylist without coming across “mean, rude, etc” so I’ve only cut my own hair for the past 8+ years and I’m by no means good at it! Lol
Hi Summer. Your tutorials are the best! I love the final look💖.
Thank you so much!! 😊
I love your videos. I would love to see cut for heavy thick but fine hair that struggles with getting volume. Maybe it’s the same type of cut but feels like no matter what cut I get it is still heavy and hard to get max volume. Thanks
Wow. Super interesting. I have curly hair, will look for other videos of urs. ❤🎉❤🎉
❤
❤❤
Great outcome! My hair - need to know for next haircut! Thank you.
Glad it's helpful to you!!
Beautifully done 💜loved this video . Thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you so much!
Any chance there is a cliff note version in this long video for what to tell the hair stylist to get this cut?
Wow! You are an artist!
Thank you so much you helped me understand what is wrong with my cut. I just found you.
I'm so happy your stylist is open to the videos!!
Love the cut BUT I Love your hair cut. What is it called please
I love it but how do I tell my stylist to do this? What cut am I asking for? I understand what to say to them for the front but how do I tell them I want these layers and thickness??
Looks amazing well done and thanks for sharing 🦋🌸🌸🌸🌺🌺🌺🌺💐🪷💫💫
My pleasure 😊
(If you have an email i could send you a pic to show what I'm struggling with.)
I haven't used any heat on my hair for over 3 years, so I know I'm not breaking it off at the ends from heat damage, but if you have any tips on how to help care for it and help get the ends thicker, that would be appreciated too! (I'm wondering if the reason is so much thinner at the ends is just that the new growth after the previous damage hasn't reached it's full length yet)
Any tips would be greatly appreciated
Where are you located, I sware I’d fly to get a cut by you. So tired of hairdressers ruining my hair.
So pretty! I asked for this style even though my hair is longer and it turned out awful. I have a side part and the layers on the long side is one big layer. It looks like a huge step on one side. I can’t find a decent stylist in my area.
Wow! This came out beautiful!!
Thanks!
Can you show us the wolf cut for short wavy hair pls ~ you are really awesome ❤❤ i loved your tutorials ❣️
I enjoy watching your videos. Do you cut hair for the public?
“Love this”✨BEAUTIFUL…..
best cut ive seen in forever!!! love from Lebanon
Love the ideas. But those earrings are just too beautiful to ignore. Do you mind sharing where those are from? Lovvvvvv them.
Amazon!
Love it, you are so talented!!!
Hello! I think I missed the part on how to communicate this style to the stylist. Does anyone know? Thank you!
Omg I even love ur hair. WHERE CAN I FIND U so I can have YOU cut my hair please! Beautiful! ❤❤❤
Oh how I wish you had a similar video for naturally curly hair!
Looks amazing 😃
Thank you so much for this video now I just need to find a stylist who is willing to take this advice. I have been to 6 stylists in my area and even had to go 7 hours away seeking help with my hair but the worst thing is I have even been so desperate that I have gone to a different state at the suggestion of a friend. My thin hair has been hacked and chopped for the last 4 years. I truly miss my stylist where I used to live and I was certainly spoiled. Now I am desperate to find a person who can style thin hair. I wonder if you can recommend someone to me in my area?
Which hairart head is that? Love the look of this. 🤩💖🤩
Suoer goed geknipt haar mooi model 😊😊
Now trying to find a stylist who can cut my fine hair the exact way is the hard part! Ugh.
Yes, thinking similar! The style here is exactly what I have been wanting for years. Must have tried every hairdresser in the area and no one seems to it right? Summers tips on how to explain are gold! I am taking this with me to show 'n' tell next time!
I agree. No knows how to cut my thin fine hair. I would love to be able to cut my own. But it is not easy
I would love a hairstyle like this. Any recommendations in Sacramento area?
Love your videos but was really hoping to get some pointers on this cut on how to communicate this to my stylists ...
Maybe I missed it ??
Would have loved to have seen the blow dry for this as my hair cut is the same - but my fine hair doesn’t look this thick when I do it.
Gorgeous cut...well executed. That said, what is the amazing toner?
Wow - gorgeous. Thank you for the great video
Oh my gosh. This is what I need. Are you in Florida?
Wow❣️would be nice to have those professional stylists everywhere, not just on youtube!;)👍
🌷Would you show us how to cut hair for women with thin hair and have a little boldness in the front?, for ladies 60+
and still keep length of the hair up to shoulders… is that actually possible?!;)🙏😇🙏
Can you explain the difference between fine hair and thin hair? I have fine hair tons of volume and razors ruin my hair. It’s been 20 years since I’ve gotten the Sassoon cuts that work for my hair.
Wow what a gorgeous platinum blonde dolly did you do that color on her?? The color is so creamy
She came like that!
I can't find anyone in Houston that knows how to cut my 2b fine hair. 😫
Thank you Master Summer God blessMaster Summer and family.😀🙏👍🙋🏻♀
I have all these issues and I also made all the mistakes you are addressing here. (I am not a hairstylist but have lost trust in anyone due to hair traumas over and over) therefore, I have cut my own hair and made a real mess. I have the holes behind the ears and I have severe recession also... it is a huge issue for me. Is it possible to remedy such errors in any way? Ugh😢
Bagaimana dengan wolfcut nyoya.. 😁
What shears are you using? I noticed the angle of the thumb
Where do you get your shears from?
Thank you.
Very informative, thank you
Glad you enjoyed!
Excellent video thank you 👏
Summer, would a medium wolf cut be good for someone with fine/thin hair?
