    Not technically an ELCB. And no devices should be refered as ELCB these days, because it is ambigous term. This is an RCBO (residual current with over-current breaker), a combined RCD (residual current device / disconnect) with MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker). ELCB operate on very different principle than RCBO or RCD. RCBO which is in this video, detects imballance of currents in L and N, and then trip if there is big ibalance (30mA in this RCD in this case). It also provides overload and short circuit protection with rated current of 16A and type C trip characteristic (5-10x rated current leads to instantaneous trip). For RCBO or RCD to operate you only need to have L and N on input and L and N on output. ELCBs do something else. They measure the current (for the current operating ELCBs, so called CO-ELCB) directly to earth. They require connecting the earth input and earth output. The connection for phases (for example L and N), on the ELCB are not actually monitored by the device, but are attached to the circuit breaker, where the current on the earth part exceeds the rated current. Such types of devices are extremely rarely used actually.

    Like shown on 1:50 when power trip occurs its hard trying to find the faulty breaker when you switch everything off and on 1 by one usually the faulty one triggers elcb to trip but in this case it doesnt trip untill you finish turning everything on and 5 minutes later this usually occurs when it starts raining is there a way to find the faulty breaker circuit which is affected by water using a multimeter

    Hey Thomas, have you ever investigated the idea of a diode based on a oxide it's on the surface of a conductor? Technically it would be in parallel if you can imagine it. I wonder what kind of effects it would have. Maybe something along the lines of a metal rod resistor we're uses the e m of The Wire and the flux from iron. Essentially controlling Direction of the EM potential with an oxide on a surface perhaps with the skin effect involved? I'm looking at the idea of taking a copper wire and putting a patina on it and seeing if that has any readings on a voltmeter and/or oscilloscope.

    Finally i found the way to test ELCB, but I think ELCB is for sense current leakage/flowing from phase to ground, not from phase to netral ? If the current flowing from phase to netral, that is normal ? Not leakage

      ELCB grounded/ any leakage to the earth
      RCCB not grounded/ imbalance current

    전기 초보가 처음으로 질문드려봅니다
    옴의 법칙을 배우다보니 잘 이해가 안되는데 분명 전류는 전압 나누기 저항으로 알고있어요...근데 전류가 흐르려면 전압이 존재하고,전원공급원쪽이 전기가 충분할때만 해당되는거 아닌가요....태양광패널로 해보니까 전등에 비치니까 3mA밖에 안나오는군요....이런경우에도 옴의법칙이 적용되는지요...아니면 전원원쪽에서 나오는 전류까지 포함한 식이 있는건가요...

      이상적인 전원은 부하전류가 늘어나도 전압은 일정합니다. 하지만 실제 전원에는 내부저항이라는 가상의 저항이 존재합니다. 부하를 걸면 이 내부저항에서 (전류*내부저항; Ir 만큼) 전압강하가 일어납니다. 따라서 부하전류가 늘어나면 단자전압이 하락합니다. 전원의 용량이 작은 것은 내부저항이 크다고 할 수 있습니다. 태양광패널은 반도체소자이 때문에 일반적인 전원의 내부저항과는 약간 다른 양상을 보입니다. (부하에 따라 내부저항값이 다르게 측정됩니다. ) 내부저항은 보통 소문자 r 로 표시하는데, E-Ir 이 부하에 가해지는 전압입니다.

    As a 30 years qualified electrician, u test method is totally ridiculous and unacceptable ,anything termination before elcb/rccb is category as not safety / dangerous and prohibited .

      I don't recommend it. Most available RCBOs and RCDs use residual current of 30mA, that is not good enough IMHO. A prolonged exposure (few seconds) of 20mA might be lethal. If you want to see stuff like that, you should check Electroboom youtube channel.

      @@rizal8102 yes. Kind off. I am not convinced that 30mA RCD s are good enough, even if there are millions of them installed. Standard in many places require 30mA, or less, so to not make fuss installers I stall 30mA. And that leads the 30mA to be most popular. There are installations where using smaller trip current will create false positives, but I really think it is a minority in new installations. Some other standards require 10mA for high risk areas and medical equipment connected to patients. So it is obvious from this than 30mA is too high. If it would be good enough, it would be mostly enough in all cases. If you can ask your installer about 10mA RCDs, and if they work that is great. Only use 30mA if there is excessive false tripping, and only on specific circuits. If needed separate circuits into separates one to isolate the issue. In US the end outlets in bathrooms do use fast tripping 5mA GFCI / RCD. And that is with 110V. So do the math.

      @@movax20h my ELCB keeps tripping, I closed all MCB downstairs and let upstairs opened. After 10 minutes they tripped. So I closed upstairs and let downstairs opened, after 10 minutes still the same. Checked all outlets no short circuit on any appliances. Closed all heavy appliances the lights still went off with the ELCB tripped. Happens especially at night where I went baffled how to sleep. Whenever I switch on the ELCB, I do get electricity but after a few minutes it went of again.

    Buy proper test equipment it’s the only way to test a RCD trip time , 30 ma must switch off in 40 ms . Any time above that could stop your heart , Do these people not read the IEE regs

      @@barkatkhan7832 Depends what is protecting. There might be usecases for 100mA RCD, but in home usually you would install something like 30mA or 10mA instead. An RCD / RCBO with 100mA residual current connected to your home bathroom would certainly be useless and not provide any extra safety to humans.

      차단기 한쪽 극의 입력과 출력측에 전선을 연결하면 부하전류가 흐르는 경우에만 누전차단기가 off 됩니다.

      dm 부하가 연결된 것을 커패시터로 표현한 것입니다. 부하 전류가 흐르는 상태에서 차단기 한쪽 극의 1-2차를 서로 연결하면 전류의 일부가 점퍼선으로 흘러가서 누전으로 인식하게 되어 차단기가 내려갑니다. 해당 차단기로 부하전류가 흐르는지 체크하는 방법이 되겠습니다.

      황태웅 합선이 아니고 누설전류를 30mA 이상 발생시키는 원리입니다. 형광등 점등관으로 합선시키면 폭음과 함께 유리 파편이 사방으로 튀겠지요.
