This was my first book on perspective. I was confused at first, but realised that everything mentioned by the author NEEDS to be applied, so do every exercise that he mentions. Perspective is extremely hard to learn through a book, at least it is for me. I was just reading about it at first, but obviously that did very little for my understanding. I'm going through the Drawabox course and bought Scott Robertson's book for Christmas, can't wait 😁
I ordered this book because I wanted to learn to draw like you Dan. I think it is a great introduction for beginners like myself . Even as I progressed through the book, the information was explained so simply . I think the example drawings also help with explaining as well. Great book that got me started with perspective.
Your realism is so detailed like the level of skill to put the texture on the paper with just mark making is satisfying U inspired me to draw like you for some reason I can make an detailed artwork thanks to you I also found my style ang currently learning the basics again
Feedback Read this book after watching this video weeks back And damn I'm really learning Alot The book is very gentle for Beginners 🔥🔥 I definitely Recommend it. I can't afford to buy a Hard copy so I'm reading It From my phone 😊 no excuses ❤️
I think Norlings decision to seperate three point perspective including it later, is a product of the time it was written. In our time its common to see all sorts of angles in movies, crazy CGI twists in turns in 3D space. For a reader in a time when many readers may have never actually watched a movie, three point may have just been mind breaking and far too confusing.
I'm late to this party but just started drawing and ordered this book. Which brought me to TH-cam to see if I could find a review on it and well now I have subscribed to your channel. Thank you for the review on this.
Have you ever heard of the book The Complete Guide to Perspective Drawing: From One-Point to Six-Point by Craig Attebery. It's pretty technical but really teaches you a lot about perspective.
Did you ever tackle the 'problem' of the milk churn as described on pages 187-189? I'd have loved more info on solving this type of problem in the book. I've bought a few perspective books now and none of them describe how to overcome this kind of 'offset element' scenario. Any tips or advice or recommendations of any books that address this would be great :) Thanks!
One of the reasons I've been avoiding perspective besides its complexity is the fact people say you MUST use rulers etc. I don't like to draw with those instruments, it doesn't feel like drawing to me. But at the same time, my hands aren't very stable :/
@Dan Beardshaw Was wondering if Dan or somebody could help me? Have been working my way through this book but got confused with pages 128, 129 which concern drawing a cone on it's side. I understand how to make a cone out of a cylinder but how do I then draw the cone on the ground and go about changing the ellipse? Does the square the ellipse is set in move when the cone moves down onto the plane? How do I go from the plane moving up to meet the cone's apex to the cone and the plane moving down together and it all being in perspective (page 129)? Having great difficulty finding an answer, maybe it's an easy solution and I just can't see it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I’m currently Working way my last Semester beginning next year January. I will be graduating next year May 4th my next project is Get good at drawing I have so many Stories/Comic images in my head that really want to bring forth to life. I did Draw a lot Back when I was 12 years old until High school and I got Really good without stress without any worries about how ugly my art is I draw References until I stop idk why But I totally regret it. But starting in 2021 I’m going to university art school to be a professional comic book artist/Manga I’m currently 21 but soon be 22 around April 7th My biggest inspiration is Stan Lee & The creator of Naruto they Motivate me to create Stories etc. but once again thanks 🤩 for the amazing video. Wish me the best of the best.
I read it upp to chapter 8 and i still dont understand any of it. Am i am idiot? The challanges aka "problems" are kinda weird to like "draw a man standing in the Garage opening with other people walking by" dude i cant even draw people yet.
I'm having trouble understanding the part of the tacked paper, the points and the cube. To be specific, "Step Seven: Showing how the vanishing points move in relationship to one another", can anyone help me digest and understand the meaning of his words?
I thought hey I have that book under one of those old old covers. But I went to look for it in my collection and can't find it. Weird. I would get rid of that book.
I have this book. I do find perspective really overwhelming, your channel is really helping me grow. Thank you.

You don't have to use those tools, you can work freehand which is what many artists do.

I have Scott Robertson's How to Draw. Do you think should I buy this book either or H2D is enough?
Now I really want to read this book haha
Is there any difference in the editions? I just a new one for 2023 come out that is double the price.
Where can I get that grid desk pad?
I’m still struggling with how to use the book I don’t know if I have to copy the pictures only or read and copy the pictures.
Can we use for a interior design? Student

Hi
Guys can I ask you one thing?
Can I make a solo animation movie with one year drawing skill.
yes. but wether it is well made or not is a different question.
Yes but before that you need to learn to draw well first then read animators survival kit by Richard Williams good luck
