I was in Air Force Security Forces, got out as a Staff Sergeant. Loved my Ford Taurus Interceptor. Got one up to 110 mph responding from one side of the base to the other. Always gassed it up, vacuumed it, and washed it at the end of the shift. An absolutely gorgeous vehicle by military standards.
Where were you stationed at? When I was at WPAFB in the 88th SFS 2008-2011 we had Impala's and Dodge Chargers. Had a Silverado, a Danger Ranger (Ford), a Dodge Dakota and an E-150 van also. Those spent most time in on the flight line and the van was used for S4 Supply.

Mine was a 2007 Taurus. The engine lasted until 260,000 miles and was just $1200 to replace and the transmission still shifts like a dream.

Great car. Owned several and had the distinction of the first Supercharged v6 SHO that was featured in Super Ford magazine. Great vehicle in its day and happy to say that I am purchasing another 91 SHO in less than 30 days. Great video!!!

I have a 2005 Taurus SE with the Vulcan engine. 15 years old 167,000 on it . Still gets 26.5 mpg! Haven't had a car payment for years. It tops out at 114 mph and still does. Over drive is AWSOME. 3 rd set of tires and brakes. Motor craft 5W20 blend for the first 150,000 miles. Now Supertech 5W20 full synthetic high mileage. Runs like beast. Oh! On the 2nd set of spark plugs too. Great commuter car. Shawn
I've been waiting for this episode! Owned a 99 Taurus and now a 2010. My mom had a Taurus, good friends dad had one, they're great cars. I love my 2010 and plan on driving it until the wheels fall off, especially with it's bullet-proof 3.5 Duratech engine!
OMG I still have my 99 Taurus I got after I finished High School 10 years ago!
Granted now the A/C is hit and miss, and it’s finally starting to rust out in certain places but yeah I’m still going to drive it as long as it works.

I remember when I moved to the states in 2002 a neighbor of mine had the second generation sho model and I thought it was the coolest American car I had ever seen. It still is.

I bought a Taurus Police Interceptor and I can easily say it is my favorite car I've ever gotten to drive. It handles dirt roads excellently and is a very nice ride. I strongly recommend.

Trust me you don't want an interceptor, just get the civilian sho, it's comfier more reliable and better in every way
dont do interceptors with high miles, cops idle for hours and hours and that wears it down super fast.
The first generation Taurus SHO has a motor with Yamaha development! The head on the ISF was designed by Yamaha, also an AMAZING motor!
They artificially limited the red line to 7000. Engine could do over 8000rpm but the Ford accessories couldn't be trusted to survive the warranty. Fords first "modern" engine was by yamaha, SMH.

My 1996 Ford Taurus has the 3.0 Vulcan. $728,000 original miles. Still has the original timing chain and everything. Original front and rear seal on the motor, and the motor and transmission has never been separated. Out of every model a person gets that special one that last. I got that one
My first car was a 1993 Taurus...I graduated to a 1995 SHO. My dad also would only drive Taurus wagons...I rode around all over the country in a Taurus. Many miles and memories in the back seat pissing my dad off.

The one thing you did not mention that was worth mentioning: The 1986 Taurus design was inspired by the 1983 Ford Thunderbird's redesigned 'Aerobird" body. At the end of Thunderbird's life, parts of the suspension and some body lines were carried over from the 1986 thru 1995 Taurus and were put into the body of the 1992-1997 Thunderbirds. The biggest indication of this was in the fenders, doors and rear unibody. The tail lights were not all that different between them if you look at the core styling.
I love these cars so damn much, every single generation and version. I miss my Jelly bean but my 2004 Mercury Sable LS Premium Wagon is amazing. The Vulcan and Duratec are some of the best and most reliable and durable engines made in recent years. Love em
Ford Taurus is one of the most underrated cars I’ve ever had the pleasure of driving. I bought this 2012 Ford Taurus SEL AWD for about 5000$ inclusive of taxes. It came loaded heated leather seats, sunroof, blind spot monitor (might be after market), a trunk which can fit a whole family and of course the 3.5L V6 (no turbo bs here). Me and my fiancé drove this car out to San Jose from Seattle - a 13-14 hour drive. It handled it like a champ. It was actually quite a pleasure driving this car on the highway. It’s a beast of a vehicle and truly saddens me that Ford discontinued this model. I would love to get a SHO

Had a 2002 Taurus LX that was used previously as a fleet vehicle for a university. It wasn't great, but it was my first car so it always has a special place for me.
Love my taurus. It's the 03 SES model, 3.0L V6 Vulcan. I've pushed it to 110mph, and drive it like I stole it. 3k is what it loves to "get up and go" from what it's capable of. Not fast by any means, but comfortable as hell to drive. I do long drives at times, and never a problem getting out hours later. Gas wise, well I drive like a madman, so not the best, but give or take from full to 1/4 tank in 220ish miles.
I've been told to get rid of it, but I can't. It was given to me by grandma before she passed, so it has sentimental value too. Also, as a basshead, subs sound great in the cabin.
It honestly is a good little car, not fancy, not powerful or super speedy, but overall well rounded enough to enjoy.
And I'd like to make it into a sleeper one day just because 😂, it'd be great to see peoples reaction after they expected it to be just a granny mobile.
2004 with Duratec V6. Bought it as my first car in 2018. I was lucky to get such a reliable cash car to start out with. I still have it and dont plan on parting with it even though now I have a new vehicle.

I've driven quite a few different generations of the Taurus and always liked them. There especially good highway cruisers. Never had the opportunity to drive any of the SHO models but I hope to soon.
I have a 2017 SHO and it's a great car. I absolutely love it. Great driver and when you wanna play, just put your foot down. She will flat out move. I just wish ford would have given the car a little attention. It would probably still be in production.
My first car was my dad's old Taurus. It had the archaic Vulcan V6 in it, but I never had a problem with it. It wasn't fast, but I never felt like I had to force it to accelerate either. And it wasn't pretty, but it wasn't ugly either. It wasn't luxurious, but it was still comfortable. It wasn't special, but there was nothing bad about it. It was so well-balanced. I couldn't have asked for a better first car.

I just bought a 2014 SHO on Monday and the same Thursday you come out with a Taurus UTS I love you so much.
Go order a tune from Gearhead, 3 bar map sensor for a f150, thermostat, and step colder plugs. If you think it drives well stock, just wait until it is tuned. Insane how much power they pick up and how much quicker they shift. You will pull on most cars.
Yeah, its dead easy to get 50-80 more HP out of that beast for very little money/work.
Get trans mounts as well you will have way better throttle response and no death shake on 1-2 shift

Damn I miss my SHO. My 2nd car was a 95 ATX SHO and I remember woopin up on a Legend one day after school. What a great car. There was no better sound than when the butterflies opened. Great job going over the history.
Have to come back and rewatch this one a couple times a year. When i was a kid, dad had a blue first gen, then a black one, then a gray wagon, and a gold third gen that i ended up driving in highschool and now im a focus boi but I'll never forget the taurus

Bought a gold 2000 Taurus Wagon around 2008 when I worked for the US Postal Service. I didn't get an LLV and needed something with a bench seat so I could sit in the middle, drive with my left hand/foot and put mail out the right. It rode amazing with grand touring tires, was quiet, reasonable on gas, and served me faithfully. Some of these cars had garbage transmissions; I had to replace a few sensors but it was cheap and easy to work on.
I left the USPS and sold the car to some neighbors who gifted it to their granddaughter. It survived two teenage girls learning to drive and college; I saw it around town until I moved away and it had zero rust and the paint was still glossy. The horrid jelly bean design of the 3rd gen permanently gave Accord and Camry the mid-sized sedan segment despite 4th and 5th gens being very good cars.
The Taurus is one of my favorite Ford cars. Sucks that they discontinued it.

have a '93. during warm weather it becomes my daily driver. doesn't attract must attention & may be boring to those on the outside but it's great inside. not many left & it may be classic in future...
