    I have one. First it was ok. The active carbon layer did absorbed the smell, but also trapped the smell and releasing some sort of leftover odor from it overtime. Personally feel its not recommended if you have it functioning 24hrs or placing it near kitchen space. It will absorb cooking odor or food smell but the smell trapped in between the layers will stay and lingers overtime. You will need to change the filter in less than 3 months. However, for bedroom clean air effect, this works fine.

    • @AirPurifierFirst
      @AirPurifierFirst  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The filters will require a more frequent replacement if you use them in high polluted places such as the kitchen. The reason is that this Xiaomi doesn't have brilliant carbon filters, such are on the Winix 5500-2 or Alen FLEX air purifiers.
      Thanks for sharing your experience.

    • @lockhandel
      @lockhandel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Lol, air purifiers in or near kitchens is like a torture test for any air purifier. I ise Xiaomi strictly for bedrooms only. If you want to use an air purifier for TV room or near kitchen, you must get a filter without carbon filtering. You can also put the Xiaomi filter in the sun for about 6 hours, which will allow all volatile organic gases to escape the filter due to high temperature of the sun.

    i use it as a fan too lol, since the unit doesnt have gyro or tip over sensor, it still works even if it is on its side , so during summer (as it is now here), i can just point the top at my bed put it side way, the best part is you can schedule it in the app so ill have a nice comfortable night while have little to none noise. i know it is a bit of stretch, but works.

    • @twentytwo138
      @twentytwo138 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Why use an expensive equipment like that? Maybe it works on the side, but who knows what effect does that have on the fan blades, maybe the ball bearings will wear out faster, even if it's moved just by milimeters... A small fan costs maybe 5€, there are even USB fans for less money..

    Can you please tell me what kind of smoke did you use in the box? Was it real cigarette smoke or vaporizer?
    I'm asking because i want to buy an air purifier so i can smoke in my house. I'm planning to place it on my computer desk, and turn it on everytime i smoke a cigarette. I smoke a pack daily, so around 20 cigarettes, and i would turn the device on for around 10 minutes everytime. Do you think the filter will last me at least 6 months this way, or possibly more?
    Will the purifier collect the smoke immediately if it's close around 50cm? Or would you suggest me another kind of purifier? Thanks!

For instance, if temperature is above 20, turn on the heater in the room? Or, if the humidity is below a certain level, turn on the robot vacuum ? if not, would a gateway be needed to connect to a separate Xiaomi temp and humidity sensor and then use this sensor for controlling other devices? Neither, if you want something that is high quality, affordability and lasts a very long time, it's either between the Oransi mod Jr or the Dyson TP07. Both have sealed systems. Both have medical grade filtration and don't loose efficiency over time. Oransi has been used by NASA in their clean rooms, at least their top end models and adopted by google, IBM, Intel, etc. Both are incredibly energy efficient. Both have very stringent testing standards. Both have great costomer service. Blue air has horrible costomer service, check out Fran Blanche's TH-cam channel, she's not the only one who got jipped. Both are tested in real world conditions rather than typical lab settings. Both have certifications up the wazu. If you want to crank it to the max, Aeris health and Austin air. If you have the money.

    • @twentytwo138
      @twentytwo138 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you using tap water? Usually it's recommended to use distilled water for humidifiers. The reason is, tap water has calcium, magnesium and other stuff in it. The humidifier will spray these particles into the air and the purifier will detect it as pollution. Especially if your home has a hard tap water, then the calcium and magnesium will be in high amounts. You can check this with a cheap TDS meter, but if you have limescale deposits on your kitchen appliances and dishes, then your water is probably hard. So i suggest use distilled water.
      I know this because of growing cannabis, when using a humidifier with tap water it creates a white dust like powder, all from the calcium and magnesium, and most growers start panicking because they think it's mold/mildew.

      So, I would decide the Blueair if I'm looking for minimalism, and the Xioami if I want a smart air purifier.

      I don't think it will work with the non-genuine filters. Xiaomi uses a filter that has an RFID chip built-in, it is like security for not using original filters.

    If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!

    • @AirPurifierFirst
      @AirPurifierFirst  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, this video is not sponsored. I personally bought the Xiaomi Mi 3H!
      I avoid mentioning prices because they change very often, and I do not want to put myself in a situation where I said in the video that the cost of replacement filters is $XX, and then after a while, the price jumps to $YY.
      If you watch other videos, you will see that I am not mentioning the filters price anywhere.
      Thanks!

    • @Clodi95
      @Clodi95 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AirPurifierFirst Appreciate the response, but then I think that you should remove the operating costs section entirely, simply because as it is now, it's not representative at all of operating costs and can be misleading. While I agree that filter prices can vary, so do energy prices; and despite the possible variation over time, I think the relative difference (when comparing 2+ products) should remain similar, so it can still be useful info.
      Or, if you want to keep the video part, rename it to something else. Like power consumption, but not operating costs.
