Fun facts; -There are 13 free roaming ducks who live there currently. -Uncle Buck's Fishbowl Cafe is now a Wahlburger's with the "fish bowl" bowling alley still intact and fully operational. -The large silver and black colored Sturgeon is the second largest of the two females and is a super rare coloration. -The elevator that leads up to the observation deck and restaurant is the world's tallest freestanding elevator and is $8 to ride up. -The location in Springfield, MO is known as the "grandfather" location due to it's sheer size and is the location of the Wonders of Wildlife Museum you see advertised in the front of the Memphis Pyramid upon entering.
In the late 80s, I was doing an internship at an investment firm in Memphis. A guy I invited to a pool party was sitting in the corner drawing triangles on napkins. Turns out he was the architect for the Pyramid. The rest is history...
I saw Bette Midler perform at the Pyramid in the early 90's. We were mugged walking back to our cars. Definitely inauspicious in terms of being a worthwhile place to visit.
This was originally built as an arena and it was supposed to be the centerpiece of an entire area that was to be themed as Ancient Egypt, a theme park on the Mississippi River to look like the Nile River.
Take it from someone who lives in the area and has eaten it. It's a decent place for fudge, roasted nuts, and other goodies. I personally like the cashews.
That is really different from your usual places but very interesting. Glad someone made use of an empty space instead of removing it or letting it go to waste. They did a terrific job. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
Wow, I'm loving your New 2920 editing style. Especially like using more drone b-roll to help establish location. Gives it more of a fun travel channel feel. And they're beautiful shots. But this Bass Pro shop episode makes me want to visit asap :) Thanks for this fun share, James and Kim
I love this place! The food and drinks at the top was fantastic! I got the Memphis Belle and shrimp and grits. That was some of the best food I’ve ever had. The aquarium is so relaxing.
You should really come out and see big Cypress's sister resort big cedar. It's an amazing piece of property and it's not far from the main headquarters store for bass pro in Springfield, Missouri.
I’m actually watching this because I have a phobia of taxidermy and I have actual attacks going in this place and I always have since I was 6 (yes I had nightmares of it lol) I’ve been watching videos to help so I can ATLEAST ship there
It's an awesome place. I just wish they did more at the top because it's just blacked out a bit up there. But I can understand that be impossible to place structures in angles like the pyramid had.
12:55 Those are Punt Guns, they were used by commercial hunters back in the day. They were mounted to the front of a boat and one shot could kill about 30 ducks
we were there a few weeks ago at the time the elevator was out of service due to covid-19 anyway its a very cool place heck i wanted to be a hunter but there was more u didnt show including all the outdoor cook ware and grills and what have ya ,thanks for the video
Checked out your map. Very cool. If you ever come back through Tennessee I noticed you've not done anything in Clarksville. Fort Campbell Army post is one of the largest military installations in the country with lots of history. Still Has the original nuclear weapons storage tunnels and shelters. Most are closed off but 1 is open and creepy. Plus there's a whole mapped tour you can take around base. I'm a retiree so you ever think about doing it I'll get you in.
Memphis is my home town and went to all of those WWF shows. At least one match would always end up with two wrestlers in the Mississippi River. Jeff Buckley drowned very close to the Pyramid at the mouth of the Wolf River. RIP
When the Pyramid was first built, Isaac Tigrett (Hard Rock & House of Blues founder), who was heavily involved in its development, placed a crystal skull in its apex because his spiritual guru, Sathya Sai Baba, told him to.
Coming back to watch this after seeing your most recent Memphis video. Thanks for the history on the pyramid. I really thought it was a neat place to visit when I was there.
Hi Carpetbagger I would be happy to help you plan and guide your trip to the Upper Peninsula of MI we have lots of strange weird and haunted attractions. -Dan
Wow!😱 I wasn't aware of this - I've seen the Bass Pro Shop in Manteca, Ca and was a bit impressed when I saw it for the first time but this takes the cake! There's a hotel too.👍 The only comment I have is I wonder if business is good? Very interesting, Jacob - keep on!!
I mean it must be pretty good. I know I went up there last February and I had to walk about 400 yards because that was the only place to park at the time. Plus my sister and brother-in-law stay going there so I figure they give Bass Pro some good business lol. Only thing that I feel will hurt them is the location to get to it feels a little bit hidden unless you're a local of the Mid-South area.
The Memphis Pyramid is a personal favorite of mine. I got to go 4 maybe 5 years ago and I have been trying to figure out how to go back ever since. Hopefully one of these days I'll get to. Great video! Hopefully you come to my neck of the woods sometime.
It's so weird to say, but I LOVE the themeing of this place. If anyone reading this is near it and hasn't gone, please do! This video can't do it justice in terms of feeling the scale, going into all of the buildings, and seeing all of the little details
Ya mean coming to you live from my home state of Tennessee. 👍 I live in Harrison almost toward the opposite side of the state. I have never been to Memphis but really want to go only for the Bass Pro pyramid.
Looks at large salmon and says " look at those bass" lol I can't tell if he was joking or serious. That makes it even more hilarious! This video earned my subscribe!
I see on your map that you have not spent much time in Kansas! There are 2 awesome places to visit in my hometown of Hutchinson, Kansas. The Cosmosphere is a Smithsonian affiliate space museum that has a great history of rocketry and the US/Russian Space Race. The restored Apollo 13 capsule is one of many artifacts on display. Stratica is a museum 650’ underground that tells the story of the discovery of Salt In this region and the mining history. The mines are also the home of Underground Vaults and Storage where Hollywood and Disney have been storing films and movie memorabilia for decades. Many movie costumes and props are on display.
Coolest video Carpetbagger!! I've always to see the pyramid and I had no idea Bass Pro Shop was inside!! I'm truly amazed and I'm planning my trip now!! Buy a boat!!
I live in southern Ohio and 2 years ago I worked in Longview , Texas for 3 months . I used to drive back home twice a month and would see this while going through Memphis . I will tell you this , Interstate 40 through Arkansas is the WORSE highway I've ever been on . There was a bump that literally cause the big work truck to ramp LOL . I work construction but a musician at heart and going through Nashville and Memphis was spiritual and inspiring ....then there's this big giant Illuminati Bass Pro Shop right before you cross the Mississippi River LOL
Looks like a cool restaurant/bar to visit. Too bad there doesn't seem to be outdoor seating. How nice it would be to be able to sit outside with that view, with a drink and a cigar.
Thank you for making a video there. Wow. Would never have known what was inside. How much to rent a room there? Do you like to go fishing? Amazing what Pro Bass Shop has done. Did you buy a boat? Keep that great sense of humor coming our way.
Someone managed to walk out with a taxidermied wildcat at the Bass Pro here in town.
??? HOWWW?? 😆
Zachary Rugar you walk fast
@Zachary Rugar put an emotional support vest on it and no one will stop you

I grew up in Memphis. I used to hate when they'd have concerts there because the sound was *terrible* in there.
I can imagine how terrible the acoustics would be!
The first concert there was the Judd's and the next day was van Halen saw that concert Memphis is my home town but I had to leave.
The Giza Pyramids have remarkable acoustic properties, but not simply for being pyramids.
Amazing to think that was once a sports arena.
In the late 80s, I was doing an internship at an investment firm in Memphis. A guy I invited to a pool party was sitting in the corner drawing triangles on napkins. Turns out he was the architect for the Pyramid. The rest is history...
Doubt.
that would be hilarious the carpetbagger traveling america on boat and checking out the riverside attractions
Wow was not expecting all of this inside! Would love to visit that bowling alley especially!
Well I was expecting a Egyptian theme inside, unreal. Thanks Jacob
K C Sunshine Adventures He should play Walk Like an Egyptian by the Bangles.
They had more Egyptian themed things when it was still a sports arena. Bass Pro gutted the building when they bought it.
I was too when I went, it's cool but disappointing
Just go to the Luxor in Vegas…. All the theme decorations you ever need.
11:54 Camo jokes never get old. Nice work!
I saw Bette Midler perform at the Pyramid in the early 90's. We were mugged walking back to our cars. Definitely inauspicious in terms of being a worthwhile place to visit.
'90s*
Ahhh yes because when I think of Egypt and pyramids the first thing I think of is Bass Pro Shops.
Memphis is Egyptian name
There's a pyramid just like in Egypt
The Mississippi River AKA the Nile of America runs through there.
Somethings adding up.

Ive driven by that thig multiple times and wondered what it was all about. Ive heard complaints about the place. Thanx for the tour.
Wow! You're in my neck of the woods right here! I love my home state of TN. Well, thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
Take it from someone who lives in the area and has eaten it. It's a decent place for fudge, roasted nuts, and other goodies. I personally like the cashews.
Mary Money I lived there too, I think I got honey roasted almonds from the pyramid , they were pretty good!
The last time I went here was at an NSYNC concert in 2000. x'D
Come to Galveston Texas! We have the Pleasure Pier, Moody Gardens Pyramids, beaches, and a lot of historical land marks!

The infamous Bass Pro Shops pyramid in Memphis Tennessee, I had a feeling you would visit soon
Never knew anything like that was in Memphis. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it before. Amazing place. Thanks for checking it out for us.
Great vid! Ive driven by it 2 times traveling and couldnt stop. This cured my curiosity! Thank you for sharing!
That place is massive. Wow!
I love this place! The food and drinks at the top was fantastic! I got the Memphis Belle and shrimp and grits. That was some of the best food I’ve ever had. The aquarium is so relaxing.
Had to see this, as my sister and her husband are staying here for their 41st anniversary. Thanks.

I don't have a phobia of it but I hate it none the less. All those poor animals having their lives stolen away only to have their corpses desecrated.
How did you do watching this?
That pyramid looks awesome 😎
12:02 Dad joke warning
I watched Ozzy and Godsmack play here! It was great
Love the Memphis Pyramid! We go almost every time we go to Memphis. Tennessee has so many cool gems like this
This is so cool. I wish I would have know of this when my mom and I were in Memphis. Would have love to seen it!

you need to come visit Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont, CA on a Sunday during the summer.
Memphis is my home town and went to all of those WWF shows. At least one match would always end up with two wrestlers in the Mississippi River. Jeff Buckley drowned very close to the Pyramid at the mouth of the Wolf River. RIP

Fun fact, my dad helped with the electrical installation sometime in the pyramid’s life
4:25 man says look at those bass 😂😂
Coming back to watch this after seeing your most recent Memphis video.
Thanks for the history on the pyramid. I really thought it was a neat place to visit when I was there.
By far the coolest Bass Pro Shop in the World! That place alone is worth the trip to Memphis!
13:11 in the interest of fairness, they have included a taxidermy hunter that the ducks had killed
I think you'd look cool on a boat Jacob, The Carpetbagger's boat trip imagine all the places you could go to on a boat
Went all the way through your channel to find a trip to Memphis. Being from here I wanted to see your reaction to things lol
I came here from checking out alligators in Mississippi River + Tennessee area. Btw, they're here and no we can't shoot them.
Well, keep searching because he has a number of Memphis videos. I have been sitting down and enjoying them today.
You were a great tour guide. Thanks!
Great job. Super find

So themed that its like another world. Very cool.
I have been there three times and never get tired of that place! One day we’ll stay there👍🏼. Love the “no clothes” area😂!

Totally worth going to Memphis! Where did you stay? Oh I slept at Bass Pro Shops. lol! Awesome!

Nope, nope, nope.
That building has some serious wrestling history
Hi Jacob awesome vlog at the sportsman pyramid.👍🏻😺
Place was very cool if not for all the dead things!
Our local bass pro shop is tiny compared to this one...and ours is huge
Ya mean coming to you live from my home state of Tennessee. 👍 I live in Harrison almost toward the opposite side of the state. I have never been to Memphis but really want to go only for the Bass Pro pyramid.
I graduated high school in there in 2002 back when it was still a venue. This is wild.
Which school? I'm a Ridgeway alumni.

Buy a boat!!
I wish The Carpetbagger would go to The Peggy Lee Museum in Wimbledon, North Dakota.
The giant guns are called punt guns and they were loaded with so much ammo and could shoot 100 ducks at once
At once wtf
Chaotic Wet yes at once
Que pasa Jacob! Heading home from work. Take care
This place is awesome
I really enjoyed this one
Respect for the mention of WWE🤝
Thank you for making this video simply amazing
love the song edit in the beginning!

Can't stop, party at the shop.
Last time I whent to the Memphis pyramid they were charging money to go to the lookout at the top

The rooms start at $250 per night.
They need a fishing pond you can fish in and you can get your fish that you caught cooked in the restaurant that would be kool
They actually do or did. They had a catch & release pond to tea h kids how to fish sustainably.
Hey Jacob, did you happen to notice the fish on the top rail on the balcony? Also who thought, Pyramid... ducks belong there...
