Thanks a lot for the review. I watched this video like a 100 times while doing comparisons and ended up buying this one. Coming from a 1080p 27 inch monitor, WOOOW this screen is amazing though I don't know how it will work with my Xbox Series S when I connect. Very beautiful colours and even better after following your calibration settings. Subscribed!!!
How did it work with the series s? I'm getting it for eventually a gaming pc but right now I have ps5 and series s. Price dropped to 299 on prime deals today
It looks amazing. Coming from 1080p, you will definitely notice the difference. Make sure to turn off your series s auto HDR because it makes the graphics washed out. You can see great details in the game.
Only downside is with series s, you can’t use the entire 34 inches. Max is 27 inch even for Netflix and TH-cam but doesn’t bother me at all though I wish I could use all of it. When using with Mac for work, I can fully utilise the space
And yeah the backlight bleeding 🩸 is there but only when you are in a dark room and the screen is blank. Doesn’t bother me anymore but was not cool to see at first 🫣

Dell's brightness in SDR isn't much higher, it hits 344 and the LG is 300. Honestly HDR only is worth in OLED and miniled screens, or with a good local dimming (which is rare in monitors). Increasing the brightness on common IPS and VA panel kills the contrast and cause more IPS/VA glow.

Thank you for the review, I was between this and the dell and ultimately couldn't pass up the price of this LG panel. Coming from a 24" 1080p this thing is like gold. Feels good!
The LG looks like it has way better vibrant colors than the Dell, even though the Dell is higher brightness. Something not mentioned is that the LG has a glossy finish, which is what may contribute to what appears to be more vibrant colors. The dell looks like it has a matte finish, leading to more dull colors. Whats your input for seeing both in person? I'm currently on the market for a 34 monitor.
I just literally bought it just now. I found it on Amazon at 325 dls. It will be a huge jump form my basic 1080/60hz monitor. Thanks for such a comprehensive review.
Mine arrives Monday, ordered on Newegg for $330 and I cannot wait. I was using 3 2560x1440 curved 27 inchers and one died so I decided to splurge and buy this to replace it and put in the middle. I do a lot of gaming but also a lot of CGI rendering as a hobby so screen space for workflow is important to me. If I like it enough I might order another next year and mount the two on a post monitor stand, one above the other which is why I like the ports on the back vs the bottom like some monitors have. The only issue is buttons on the bottom but the stand I intend to get will make it easy to raise the top one and once adjusted I don't see moving it much as my equipment runs 24/7.
@@kennY_72 Going great! Just like I said after moving from one monitor to 3 that I could never go back to one, now that I have used an ultrawide for 2 months I can never go back. Even gaming works well on this for me. I can't set up American Truck Simulator and European Truck Simulator 2 in 3 screen as those don't like different size screens but with the width of this, I really don't need that anymore. Definitely will buy a second one of these to stack above the first next year after I build my updated i9 system since I am currently using a 7 year old i5-6600k so it's time to update LOL. My only issue is, I can't get it to match the exact same brightness and color as my older Viotek 16:9s. Might be due to wrong setup on the older ones and this one being more accurate, no way as a home user for me to really test as I don't have the expensive testing equipment.
The ghosting in dark scenes is UNPLAYABLE. The ghosting is so bad I put this monitor back in its box after 2 hours of use and sold it. I cannot play FPS and I can’t even use dark mode in windows without being distracted by the ghosting when I’m scrolling through menus and webpages. The 1MS MBR does not change anything. Strix being $60 more than the LG. May I know if you have any suggestions? Other options that I am considering for VA are TUF Ultrawide and the DELL S3422DWG. As for OLED I have a couple of options which are Alienware QD-OLED DWF and the Samsung G85SB. Only reason I am leaning towards the strix is because I have an all Strix PC build.
How does the level of ghosting on this monitor compare to the Sceptre C40 you reviewed? I am really interested in the C40 but your review has made me skeptical as I use the LG 34GN850-B ultrawide currently and I'm afraid i'll notice the ghosting.
