If anyone's wondering why I've used computer game footage to highlight the rules of F1 - it's because Liberty Media (who owns F1) refuse to let anyone use their broadcast footage of the races. Numerous iterations of this video were blocked worldwide, so I used footage from a computer game. If these guys file a complaint against that - then they're really just a fascist organisation. EDIT - a lot of people are saying you can't refuel in a race. That may be so now, but in the past it was different, and in the future it might be different still. I left a lot of details out because F1 has a tendency to change rules on a whim. As always, like share and subscribe :)

There are some famous types of banks and turns you will see in a F1 race - S-turns - these are small multiple turns in a shape of an S. Sometimes they are called "Double S" turns. Hairpin - also known as hairpin curve, these are the toughest turns for a F1 racer to master. Generally, a racer has to lower the gear number to lessen speed into that tough curve, then change to a higher gear after finishing it. Lowering the gear too late into that curve could result in a spinout or even crash, especially in difficult weather. Racers will take advantage of straightaways to gain maximum speed to complete a lap before facing the circuit's turns once again in the next lap.

They shouldn't do, because most of the footage is of a computer game. They were dicks about it actually - had numerous iterations of my video blocked because they wouldn't allow the footage.
F1 is farcical - the rules that need to change to make a real race are 1) Go back to Slick, Intermediate and Wet and it should be entirely up to each team. 2) When a safety car is deployed No Team should be allowed into pits unless it is for retirement or punctures thus eliminating this insane lottery which is dependant on where your car is on the track

Typically used when the race leaders are lapping the slower cars. Prevents crashes and keeps leaders moving faster.

The lap just before the race is the formation lap, not warm up lap.
