From a start point, the BMW M4 Launches faster and maintains the speed whereas the Mercedes has a slower launch when compared to the BMW. But the interesting thing about the AMG is that it is faster than the BMW while in Motion. Overall the AMG has a more powerful engine than the BMW while the BMW has a better transmission. It boils down to choice.
The BMW actually won everything because if you look at the flying start, the Mercedes was always a step ahead of the BMW, which was exactly what the BMW was missing in the end!

I notice that when the C63 shifts into second it either spins or lags on the shift. The M4 then pulls ahead and that inline 6 torque up top is way better

Every time in the rolling races, the AMG started ahead.. there is absolutely no comparison until you get drivers who are able to do a rolling start..

I work for merc and after driving the m4 stock I found it amazing compared to the merc c63 which has more power. I found the BMW more aggressive and better at everything

The bmw has 454 hp and the Mercedes has 469hp, there’s a difference in price the bmw is 69,150$ and the Mercedes is 78,495$ I don’t think it’s worth 9,345$ more for just 15 hp

Looks like M4 has fallen to the typical heat soak problem , other than that im amazed how it held itself against a C63 both great cars. Final thing i think the reason M4 had amazing pull when they shifted to 2nd might be coming from Toyo r888 s but still amazing race enjoyed the vid and thanks for putting something like this together
Merc has more hp and torque. So the m4 is faster with tuning to the same stats.

Bmw's m-dct gearbox is one of the best dual clutchers out there, the gear boxes have been a mercedes achillies heel for a while
It certainly is. Joe Achiles recently did a test that proves the 8 speed ZF is actually faster though but the m-dct feels faster with its more aggressive gear changes (he tested a M2 with m-dct and 240i with 8 speed ZF and the 240i was quicker in almost all tests). Although admittedly it could have something to do with the increased mid range torgue of the B58 engine. 2 Great gearboxes though.
B58 I think won that, plus really all the track width probably doesn't actually help in drag racing

Elmo, maybe the mercedes was made with better cooling, either way the motor on the BMW must be working alot harder to keep up with a Tuned Twin Turbo 4.0L V8 rated at 625 HP, and the motor on the mercedes has been tuned by mercedes to 600HP+ on the E63S (with modified hardware aswell), so its alot more chill when its modified.

I own both. C63s, tuned by EuroCharged, and then a 'M4 CS which is still stock. Despite the tuning of the C63s, it nannies you so hard down low that it's just too restrained for me. I've even done exhaust, intake, etc. and it sounds amazing, but just too restrained. The stock CS just with the traction control off and nothing more with significantly less horsepower is far more wild and engaging. The DCT can't be beat and the tuned TCU on the AMG just can't make it anywhere as snappy.
The AMG I bought for myself, and truth be told, I'm going to let it go and keep the CS because it's so much more special.

This is what I needed. He traded in his M4 for the C63s (my brother)
C63 left it’s window open for most of the first 2 runs whereas the M4 closed his. Open windows create a lot of drag at high speed. Would be good to see a repeat with windows closed the whole time

@@duffydon1741 Try it with your own sports car if you don't believe the physics of this. Do one run with your window down, note the 0-62 time, and then do the same run with your window fully up and time it again. You will be quicker with the window fully up. At higher speeds the effect of drag has even more noticeable impact on acceleration.

During the 80's in DTM, the 190e was a beast, however it's rival (despite having lesser victories) the BMW E30, was such a famed and loved car, overshadowing it's better rival (ironic isn't it). And then during the 20th century, Mercedes kept winning and winning. That being said, BMW and Audi also had victories, but not as much as Mercedes. And in the F1 category, it speaks for itself.

I feel like people keep comparing these 2 cars for the wrong reasons. AMG has always prioritized the drivers experience along side performance. BMW has always prioritized performance over the drivers experience. That's why AMG offers an almost limitless amount of additional options for their cars. Both are amazing cars but they're made for different types of drivers, so of course one is always going to be better in certain categories.

I'd definitely do these drags with windows pulled up from start, as the wind resistance may have a significant on the acceleration. Especially when it's so close, the result may depend on it.

As an owner of an AMG if you want to go fast in a straight line, AMG. If you like to race/build your car, then M Sport. Both great in their own respects.
