I bought a ‘99 Dodge Ram 2500 with 68,000 miles in 2001. I sold it a few months ago and watched it drive away with 385,000 miles on it..it had a 5.9 gas engine , and I drove it from Florida to Utah, Arizona , Nevada and back to Florida then to Texas and all I ever had to do was replace the water pump once and also replace the radiator . Everything else worked fine., I drove that truck for 20 years . And looked as good the day I sold it as it did when I bought it, with the exception of the crumbling dash board . And I pull a 6x12 cargo trailer with it many times fully loaded from my auction buys. And I still see it around town driving and looking good.,

I'm praying that our endless money pit Dodge Avenger will at least make it to 150k miles. 🙏🏽 God is a miracle worker! But you know what I have learned about cars in general? They are all endless money pits when you are driving on the road with a bunch of uninsured, bad drivers with no routine maintenance being done to their cars!
All of my "good cars" have been involved in car accidents that were not my fault and the drivers are ALWAYS uninsured. A girl crashed into my car earlier this week, didn't have insurance and she admitted her brakes had been failing for awhile, but she just been putting off getting them fixed.
Surprisingly, that little raggedy Dodge Avenger we have seems to avoid car accidents that would cause my insurance to total the car out, so I can rid myself of this liability once and for all.. 😩

Currently has 153k miles, and still has the original brake pads & rotors, plus the original battery. Aside from normal maintenance I’ve needed a RF wheel bearing and a heater diverter switch. That’s it. And the 5.7 Hemi still pulls 20+ MPG without even trying. It’s been the best vehicle I’ve ever owned by a large margin. None of the GM or Ford trucks I’ve owned can come anywhere close.

The old slant 6, back in the 70's and early 80's, it was common for them to go 300k. Here in Maine, you had to hurry because they would rust out before you could get your 300k. The old 318 was not far behind in the 300k race. When Crysler stopped making those 2 engines, it was all over for them as far as engine reliability. The automatic tranny's would not hold up to a high school boy though.

Then I got 170k out the the Durango before trading it in, no issues other than a shorted battery (very weird). That said, I'd never risk it and buy another Dodge product.
