I was the same. I naturally unfollowed him before Jojo's videos because I felt like his quality went massively downhill. I remember an ASMR video he (Edit: Ghetto, not Jojo) posted where he was recording in a kitchen or something and a couple pans fell over in the room and he didn't edit it out. There's "lo-fi/unedited" videos, and then there's just low effort and low quality. To this day, it was one of the worst ASMR videos I've ever seen. Still, Jojo's videos have been very insightful and I appreciate him spreading this important message.

I remember a while before Jojo started talking about Ghetto, I used to watch his stuff. I thought he was pretty good at the whole ASMR thing. Honestly he was. But he was always very into the "grind". The "hustle" of TH-cam and growing his brand. Which is fine I guess. Over time I gradually noticed a lot more of his videos contained him appealing to people to get them to spread his content around more. He was desperate to get people to share his content, more and more into the "grind" of content growth. Clearly he ended up not liking his rate of growth because there were a few times in his community tab where he would start belittling and insulting his own fans, giving them shit for not being real fans, for not supporting him and for causing the death of his channel. After the 3rd or 4th time he did this, I couldn't really separate the "art from the artist" anymore. He was becoming insufferable, and it was bleeding so much into the content that I just unsubbed and moved on. A while later, Jojo makes his video, people find out how shitty Ghetto is, and here we are. Its crazy to think that I used to watch his content and truly enjoy it. But it used to be good before he got consumed by hustle culture.

Hey all- mental health counselor here! I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some thing going on with ghetto ASMR mentally. Obviously seeing video clips and watching a few videos, won’t tell me what exactly is going on ; but I definitely sense some type of mental illness. Just a gentle reminder that this is exactly what mental health looks like. It’s not always depression, it’s not always anxiety- sometimes it’s complex, confusing and just downright odd. Criticizing somebody who is struggling, specifically, if they don’t even know that they are dealing with a mental illness- it’s not going to help. I know it’s hard when they’re slandering, I know it’s hard when they’re acting so bizarre. But part of breaking the stigma is recognizing that this behavior is mental illness, and just deserving of treatment as depression or anxiety. Please remember to be kind. mental illness, doesn’t excuse anyone’s actions, but it does give us a better understanding an explanation to them. We have no idea what ASMR ghetto could’ve gone through in his life that got him to this point. Jojo- piece of unsolicited advice, so take it as you will . if this is mental illness, it’s not going go away overnight. I understand that you feel like you need to defend yourself and your name, but once we recognize that there’s something way beyond anyones control (someone else’s actions motivated by mental illness. )it might be best to just ignore it. Not only because responding could be communicating to the other party that you’re fighting fire with fire, (we know you’re not, but think about somebody who has some severe stuff going on.) but also for your own protection, both physical and mental. But also this type of mental illness doesn’t allow the person to self-reflect and actually realize the problem is their own and seek help. The self-protect mechanism to shift the blame of everything happening to outside sources rather than inward is too strong. While I agree feeding into it isn’t the answer, sometimes calling out behavior is necessary. I think sticking to the facts rather than reacting emotionally is definitely a better approach, though. I know I am beyond late because I didn’t follow this drama but still wanted to add my thoughts.

I remember a while before Jojo started talking about Ghetto, I used to watch his stuff. I thought he was pretty good at the whole ASMR thing. Honestly he was. But he was always very into the "grind". The "hustle" of TH-cam and growing his brand. Which is fine I guess.
Over time I gradually noticed a lot more of his videos contained him appealing to people to get them to spread his content around more. He was desperate to get people to share his content, more and more into the "grind" of content growth. Clearly he ended up not liking his rate of growth because there were a few times in his community tab where he would start belittling and insulting his own fans, giving them shit for not being real fans, for not supporting him and for causing the death of his channel.
After the 3rd or 4th time he did this, I couldn't really separate the "art from the artist" anymore. He was becoming insufferable, and it was bleeding so much into the content that I just unsubbed and moved on.
A while later, Jojo makes his video, people find out how shitty Ghetto is, and here we are.
Its crazy to think that I used to watch his content and truly enjoy it. But it used to be good before he got consumed by hustle culture.

Hey all- mental health counselor here! I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some thing going on with ghetto ASMR mentally. Obviously seeing video clips and watching a few videos, won’t tell me what exactly is going on ; but I definitely sense some type of mental illness.
Just a gentle reminder that this is exactly what mental health looks like. It’s not always depression, it’s not always anxiety- sometimes it’s complex, confusing and just downright odd.
Criticizing somebody who is struggling, specifically, if they don’t even know that they are dealing with a mental illness- it’s not going to help. I know it’s hard when they’re slandering, I know it’s hard when they’re acting so bizarre. But part of breaking the stigma is recognizing that this behavior is mental illness, and just deserving of treatment as depression or anxiety. Please remember to be kind. mental illness, doesn’t excuse anyone’s actions, but it does give us a better understanding an explanation to them. We have no idea what ASMR ghetto could’ve gone through in his life that got him to this point.
Jojo- piece of unsolicited advice, so take it as you will . if this is mental illness, it’s not going go away overnight. I understand that you feel like you need to defend yourself and your name, but once we recognize that there’s something way beyond anyones control (someone else’s actions motivated by mental illness. )it might be best to just ignore it. Not only because responding could be communicating to the other party that you’re fighting fire with fire, (we know you’re not, but think about somebody who has some severe stuff going on.) but also for your own protection, both physical and mental. But also this type of mental illness doesn’t allow the person to self-reflect and actually realize the problem is their own and seek help. The self-protect mechanism to shift the blame of everything happening to outside sources rather than inward is too strong. While I agree feeding into it isn’t the answer, sometimes calling out behavior is necessary. I think sticking to the facts rather than reacting emotionally is definitely a better approach, though. I know I am beyond late because I didn’t follow this drama but still wanted to add my thoughts.
