It’s 2 a.m. and I’m preparing for a camping trip…I wanted to make a sleeve for my camping stove out of 6 mil plastic….Your video was simple and easy! I had a small soldering iron, a yardstick, and a metal ruler…I used parchment paper and I was able to see the plastic melting as I ran along with the iron… Absolutely fool proof… unless you linger too long or attempt to go over a spot that’s sealed. Nah, I didn’t do that 🙄… Much gratitude to TH-cam content creators like yourself for making many of my projects easier! Thanks! 🦋Lily🦋N.Y.
Camping trip == So you can experience life like a Homeless Man Make sure you learn from the experience so that when you see any'one' who is homeless - donate at least $20 to them so THEY can experience a normal life for a day
"Welding" plastic is a lot like welding metal in principle, once you have the correct heat setting, it is just a matter of maintaining the correct speed with the heating device. Knowing the temperature that works best is possible with the use of a temperature gun that will tell you how much heat is being applied at a steady pace. That soldering iron you are using looks to be very high wattage. Definitely more than 75 watts. The common pencil style soldering iron used in electronics is often set at 30 watts, or slightly less.
He said he was using 6 mm thick common home improvement plastic, often sold for use as a way to catch paint splatters, and spills. It is also sold for insulating windows during the winter as an air and wind blocker.
It can work on most sheet plastics commonly sold in home improvement stores, but don't mix plastic types, or thickness since you need a temperature setting both parts will respond to in a desirable fashion.

That's a really clever use of tools and materials. I just tried this with a solder pen and it works perfectly.
Thank u
👍🏽👍🏽
I use regular iron, cover the part you want to join with aluminum foil and iron on it, once it is cool, remove the foil.

Thank you .👌👌👌😱 just wat i was lookin for .
To fill with expando .. rock buster ..
does it matter what kind of plastic you use? Im assuming there are certain plastics or thicknesses that dont work ?

😂I used to do it exactly like this. I was wondering there might be another way.
This saved my life, thank you
You were about to die before watching this video and but you immediately logged into TH-cam and watched this video and survived? Interesting.
How funny Bunny 😂
Thank you
Wow, Thank you, !!
I use a soldering iron and metal ruler. I melt it enough to pull away the other side do it's neat ha ha. Now I know I don't really have to lol
Thank you.
Cool
Can you tell me name of the pastic?
Thanks 😊
Will this work with plastic tarps?

How many watts er soldering iron??? Is it on max?..
His soldering iron didn't appear to have a setting and looks to be for plumbing, rather than electronics. See comment above.
