    Hi Bri, parchment paper, putting a piece under the clay and a piece on top to stop the rolling pin sticking, that will help you greatly. Also if you dry your piece under a plastic bag and let the figure dry slower you will find you get less cracks. Also, when using wire to pin stuff together, put only enough wire to hold the pieces together, and not enough for the clay to shrink back from. I tend to put the wire mostly into the body and not too deep into the piece being attached. Air Dry Clay does shrink about 10% approx on average. But you are doing everything you should do to help your clay to stick together. You can do no more than that. Personally, I think the characters you make are awesome and so nicely produced.     for rolling it out flat you could put wax paper or parchment paper under and on top of the clay so it doesnt stick to the rolling pin! I've also seen people lay down pencils on either side of the clay to get a really even thickness of clay! Hope this helps! :}
