    thanks a ton for this video. Just tested with mine as well and I was able to pull it up with my fingers, so Im pretty confident that the latch will reverse the motor like yours does.

    Personally installed the satonic with the extra metal hook attachment. Working perfectly for over 3 months now.

    This is very informative, the only concern I have with the one-piece (which ironically I have) is for those who live in corrosive weather environments, the motor seizing due to oxidation while going down. There is no practical way of releasing the cable tension without major disassembly and the radiator is a major access restriction to get to the latch area to reach it. My unit started misbehaving whenever the environment is extremely humid which leads me to believe the motor unit circuitry isn't as watertight as it should.

      Yes that’s definitely my fear with this version. Hopefully there will be signs of an issue before a complete seizure happens, and theoretically if the motor seizes I think the soft close will just fail to operate as opposed to locking up at the bottom of the travel, but that could be wishful thinking on my part. I will say as soon as I see the first sign of any misbehaving the unit is getting replaced.

    Installed the one piece version, its really awesome indeed!! 20 Times better than the worthless two piece design like Satonic's. Thanks again

    I have the Tlyard one piece unit which was super easy to install and so far so good. Works like a charm every time. The Satonic and Hansshow units are two piece and have issues with metal on metal clearances where in one installation video they had to install a metal spacer in order for it to work. I believe that was on the Satonic install video. Thank for sharing your input. The way I see it this one piece unit does not interfere or block the OEM latch or release mechanism. So even if the unit fails you should be able to unlatch the Frunk.

    Thanks for the video. I installed the Hansshow two piece. It failed on me after a few weeks. Frunk stuck down because the motor didn't release the tension. I had to cut the cable to release the tension. Multiple unlatch requests didn't do it. In this case was happy I got the two piece as getting to the motor from the driver side wheel well was significantly easier than trying to get to the back of the OEM latch to do the same thing.

      Yes that is definitely an area of concern for me. Based on my testing with this one piece unit, even if the soft close fails the hood should still release. However you’re absolutely right if this were to enter a failure mode where I can’t get the frunk open it’s definitely going to be more of a challenge to release the tension on the cable since as you noted, it’s located on the back of the OEM latch.

    I installed the one piece unit (V2 version with controller built into the motor unit) on my Model Y last night. It failed upon a few closes. What was interesting was that the soft close motor pulled the bonnet down and kept tension on the latch. When I sent open frunk commands, the factory actuator would work, but was not releasing the bonnet. I had to end up taking the wheels off, bumper under cover off, and loosen the radiator to access the two 10mm bolts on the latch. I had to unbolt the latch from under the car, no way I think it would be possible if the frunk tub was in place.

    • @Mcivstx
      @Mcivstx 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would try to return it ASAP. The newer versions that are coming out like the Satonic V2 all have manual release cables now that you can run toward the 12V jump start cover.

      @@Mcivstxoh good to know the soft close is improving. I got a a replacement so maybe I’ll flick it off cheap and get a new version 😀 thanks for the info!

    I own a 2024 Tesla Model 3 standard range. I ordered the Frunk locking parts from Hansshow. What they sent me was the lock plate with the motor mounted on the lock plate assembly unlike those that have the motor separate. This lock plate did not fit my Tesla whatsoever. They provide install instructions as a pdf on line but the pictures depicting each step are very dark and low grade rendering them useless. The lock plate goes in front of the original lock plate and then bolted to the car with existing 10mm bolts. This assembly did not come close to fitting my car. Everything on the revised lock plate was in the way. I have emailed Hansshow but crickets. Have you heard of these lock plates not fitting at all? Is the lock plate different on the standard range vs the extended range car? That may sound like a silly question comparing the standard range to the long range as far as lock plates go, but I just don't know for sure if they're different based on the fact that what my supplier sent me doesn't come close to fitting. I reordered this conversion from Tlyard. We will see... Thank you for this video. if the battery dies I can understand the severe situation it can cause.

    Nice video! What happens if you get something between there when closing, e.g. your fingers? Is there some safety built in here?

    Had a Satonic style on my car and it failed. I pulled it off any will not be replacing it with anything. Ironically I have a video encouraging people to install the soft-close lol

      @cjkcizur  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah - I would likely be one-and-done too if I had something cause me that much of a headache! Hopefully if this fails there will be some early warning signs before anything catastrophic. Only scenario I think this will result in me being locked out is if the soft-close motor itself seizes up in the down position and physically can't rotate.

      Can you please make a video of the anti-pinch feature.. of course without using a real finger lol. I don’t have too much confidence in that .. I tested it by sticking some foam on a screwdriver. It popped back up, but not before causing some damage to the foam.

    Installed the satonic v2 this afternoon but it broke within 2 hours. Emergency unlock cord never worked, the motor tried to pull the latch EVERY 5 minutes, not only once and failed when installed for 2 hours. Disassembled, will buy a 1 piece soft close, thanks

    How about operating the frunk with the power to the soft close is disconnected and operate the frunk manually. Your demo was exactly a real life scenario as you did not really use the hood.
