Thanks for this. I have a pair of chaps we use for motorcycle riding and we took them our of our closet and they are full of white mold. Going to try the vinegar/water solution and sun then lexoil and see what happens. We totally use your method for our boots and they have lasted for years 😁
On a cold winter day, I used my wife's hair dryer to warm up and work in mink oil & snow seal when restoring long-lost and dried out work boots. Note to self, heh: Don't use your wife's hair dryer. You will burn it out... . Great video! Just found same pair at bottom of storage bin where, somehow, water had gotten in. One boot totally moldy. Off to find the vinegar (but not the new hair dryer...).
I realize this is 3 years old, but I assume this would also work for a leather gun belt and holster combo from the 80's that has spots of white mold on it, right?
Say Bohemond, you made a great video that spoke to me. SnoSeal was our go-to in the days before Gotex and honestly, I think the latter has not place on my feet in cold and wet conditions. Which leads me to you when I found my Danner Sundowner BackPacking boots stored in their box with mold forming. I always clean and dry my boots after use and was surprised to find the invasion. I have two questions: How long in the "sunshine treatment" and best ways to store shoes and boots?
I have a pair of leather boots my grandma wore when riding her motorcycle. I took them when she died about 8 years ago. They already werent the best condition but then me storing them in a closet for 8 years they have gotten pretty bad. Ive always wanted to wear them but they look terrible. I dont have the tools or products or work space to try to help them. Can i send them to you?!?!😁
One question. The Sno Seal says to pre-warm the boots. Do you recommend this, or does applying at normal indoor temps work ok as well? Love my boots and enjoy all the videos you have been making. I wanted to make sure I got all the important seams, and this video helped me catch some small spots i missed. Well done, good Sir!
I know this is not the time of year..... sunshine is the safest. Just put boots or shoes in sun for 30 minutes is all it takes. Otherwise I recommend no heat and just smear it on.
I have a pair of Olathe packer boots that aren't dirty at all they just have a musty small to them - do I follow your steps to get rid of it and do I do the inside as well? Thanks
I would be avoiding breathing all that dirt and mold while brushing the boots to start with. I’m all for mask and glasses/goggles and long sleeves. The spores of mold are extremely toxic to the human body.
My boots have a smelly mildew smell on the outside from being wet almost daily. Is there something I can put on them before this treatment to get rid of that smell?
You should monetize your recommendations for products by creating an Amazon affiliate link for them. :) I'm trying to save my uber moldy docs. You should make a video of that. I think they're kinda screwed though lol.
Can you not just immerse in vinegar & hot water to clean mould /bacteria/smell on the inside too? My husband & son spend a small fortune on steel toecap work wear boots, throwing them away as soon as they start to look & smell bad & it's not good for the environment or our pockets! 😞
Have you done this? I was thinking the same thing… immerse in vinegar and warm/hot water… How were the results? I really want to clean the INSIDE more than anything
@@bootsbybohemond4226 That's good to hear.Your servicing of his boots is a testimonial for your customer service and encouraged return business. Once again, well done.
J is not a bad guy. Just made the assumption that my stuff was indestructible and thus did not care for them as he should. I did this for him free of charge to demonstrate what a little love and care can do.
Not very good and the reason is because you did not explain why you did not use the beeswax and whether it's an alternative to the weatherproof stuff you used. Confusing.
At first I was a little shocked by the ridicule of your customer, but then the unboxing happened and all the dirt came out and I figured that "J" probably deserved a little ridicule. Love my Bohemond boots and I treat mine like the treasure that they are.
Frustration was my emotion. No intent to ridicule. I provide instructions on care with every boot and shoe. It is also posted on my site. "J" did not use any of that to help himself. So I tried to turn it into a win win by showing everyone how to do it. "J" was not charged. The non pandemic solution is to coach in person, at an event or at the shop. So he could share with others what he learned.
How did you clean & kill the Mold/Mildew on the inside of the boots ?
Do u mean he just clean surface of boots but not deep clean bro
@@duyngo2370 No, I think she meant the inside of the boot by where your foot and ankle go.
Thank you. I believe I have a pair of your boots from 15+ years ago. Still love them. Geogund
Glad you like them!

Great content, awesome editing, and solid tips! Thank you, sir.

Beautiful job!Thank you for teaching us a valuable skill!

What’s your feedback for suede boats? There’s mold on at least 5 pair of my husband’s boots.

Those are cool boots! And wow did you ever spiff em up! New sub after that cleaning and renewing! Thanks.

Love the videos keep em coming
Thanks! Will do!
Can this be done to leather from welding gauntlets? I have some leather from a set that I'd like to repurpose for cosplay.
Excellent hints and tips ... cheers
Glad you enjoyed it
thanks, more to come.
Sir, what type vinegar is it? is it vinegar seeds like 100% vinegar or just vinegar that is often used for cooking
cool video bytheway 👍
Distilled white vinegar
Would the mouldy smell be gone also?
So what do you think of instead of vinegar using peroxide on them?
Doesn't the vinegar make the leather stink after treatment?

Hej i salvaged a leather motorcycle jacket which has green mold on and smells of mold. Will this method get rid of the smell also ? Thanx
This was cute! You’re very funny
I have a black leather couch do I use vinegar to clean and kill the white mold on my couch
May I use petrolatum wax instead of beeswax? it's cheaper and widely available, would it protect from the mould coming again?
Would this therapy work on a jacket?
When you use vinegar won't the boots now smell like vinegar forever?

Well done! I do hope that "J" suffered "sticker shock" when he got the bill. ;-)
He was cool with the service. Ordered more boots as well. Outfitted his hole group!

wish bees wax would have worked for me. It molded a few day later.
This is great.
Pretty sucky move to send you such dirty boots. I've got some boots that need help and a new sole.
Please help. I used to work in a pizza place and wore my leather boots. Now they smell stinky like cheese. How do I get rid of the odor?
Wot r u using
Please wear a mask, the fine dust / mold is dangerous, it can get into your lungs, especially when exposed often when cleaning, take good care!
I have one boot that has real bad mold on it hopefully this will help kill it 🤞🏽

👍👍
At first you didn't have a mask on when you applied the vinegar then you did. I just cleaned mine without a mask , is this bad , I'm panicking
Don't Panic. Mask is just advisable for certain kinds of mold. The demo pair had black mold. Yuk.
@@bootsbybohemond4226 Thank you for your reply .
You should wearing a mask!
Wow 🙂👍
Sort of wanted to thumbs down because of the pile of dust!! Your face though 😂
