    Great thorough explanation of the process, while being quick and concise! The animation detail is nothing short of amazing too, perfectly matched to and illustrative of the information content. Really gotta hand it to you, it's professional grade production.
    And I can definitely perform this operation much more quickly and efficiently after reviewing this.

    Many scroll compressor AC units have a low side suction line cutout switch for low suction pressure. It may not allow a compressor operated recovery below a low side suction pressure of about 55 psi. This still gets most of the refrigerant recovered.
    If it is the first time you encounter this, it might scare you when the compressor shuts down making you think you damaged compressor. Don't worry it is just the low pressure cutout switch doing its job. You might want to stop at about 60 psi suction pressure to prevent the cutout switch activation.

    I would vote for lingering a bit longer on the more salient points that may be passed over by our short attention spans.

    Hook up a ball valve on your core deppressor. Close the valve and the high pressure refrigerant will go into the tank and clear your hoses… dependent on the temp of the refrigerant, ambient temp, and the temp of the cylinder

  • @MemeKing44
    @MemeKing44 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you recover the second time and refrigerant is still in tank do you repeat the same process, by first vaking down? Or do you not vak because you already have a vak? And can putting a vak on a tank with refrigerant mess something up? Seems like the vak pump would pull refrigerant toward it into the vak pump and empty your tank I to the vak pump is this wrong?

    While doing this. What prevents oil from leaving the system as well? And would that damage the compressor because if the correct oil was added from the factory and an imbecile overcharged it, if oil came out with the excess refrigerant, the system would now be low on oil? Correct?

    I’m in school for this and just learning so excuse me for asking a dumb question but if this was a liquid recovery, at the end you said open the hand valves to allow the remaining refrigerant back into the suction side. How is this possible to return refrigerant in liquid form to the suction side?

    • @thecurious6721
      @thecurious6721 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Open slowly and let the liquid to vaporize and scroll compressors handle liquid better than reciprocating compressors, there are no valves to break.

      depends on the region you are in Florida it seems like everything has TXV now. I am in NC and I see pistons everyday even on brand new systems.

    How does pulling to a vacuum harm the compressor?

    • @davejohnsonnola7908
      @davejohnsonnola7908 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many scroll compressors are set up to "disengage" the scrolls below a certain pressure. Not made to pull system into vacuum the way older style reciprocal can.

      There are several ways a compressor can be damaged when it is in vacuum. Compressors are cooled internally by the returning refrigerant vapor from the evaporator as well as externally by the air being drawn/blown over the compressor from the condenser fan. Without that cooling a compressor will overheat and the motor windings may be damaged.
      The refrigerant vapor and oil within a compressor act as electrical insulators. When in vacuum, the compressor does not have that insulation and an arc may occur inside the compressor and cause a condition called terminal venting. The compressor electrical terminals may blow out or the insulators around the terminals will be damaged and cause a leak.
      Most compressors will handle running in vacuum for short periods but they cannot operate in a vaccum for extended periods. You will see in some literature that warn never start a compressor when it is in vacuum. Low pressure controls will shut off a compressor before it goes into vacuum but not all systems utilize them.
