  • Making the switch from your traditional phone system to a VoIP phone system? In this video, we discuss all the hardware you’ll need to make this switch possible. Below is the VoIP hardware listed in order of the video:
    Modem - Because VoIP uses the internet to make and receive phone calls, you’ll need your modem to access your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
    Router - A router acts as the network traffic controller for all the devices connected to your internet, such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc. Depending on your router, it may already have Wi-Fi built-in.
    Ethernet switch (optional) - If you need more ethernet ports to connect your devices to the internet, you could purchase an ethernet switch. Some switches come with up to 40 additional ports.
    Our blog below lists out our top 10 VoIP routers for 2021:

    VoIP phone - Make and receive calls with your VoIP desk phone. This phone connects directly to your switch or your router via an ethernet cable. However, this phone won’t work until you’re all set up with a VoIP service provider. At Nextiva, we’ll help you set up your phone service quickly and efficiently.

      Do you know if the ASUS RT-AX86U 5700 can connect VoIP Phones for Home Users?
      I have an ISP Connected VoIP Setup that seems to be directly linked to the ISP Router, the ISP Provider is a major British Telecommunications (BT) Company but their Techs do not know how to connect their VoIP Handsets to any 3rd Party Routers at all...
      And our Government has decided that Copper Cables will no longer be supported, forcing us all to use VoIP when their seems to be no support for 3rd Party Routers...
      There must be a way to connect a VoIP Handset to the Modem or Router without having a PC on all day to support the VoIP Handsets Connectivity surely...?

      Hey @@williamduplooy, with each network setup being different, we recommend working with the hardware manufacturers directly to ensure they can support your cloud phone needs. However, we do have a VoIP setup guide that walks through all the steps necessary to start making calls using the hardware described in this video: www.nextiva.com/blog/voip-installation-checklist.html.

      Thank you I have now sent an e-mail to ASUS Support today - I have noted that there are Webpages and Forums where VoIP and my Router are discussed as potentialy opertaing together...
      So there may be hope yet (I hope).
      Thank you - yes the Hardware and Software Inetface complexeties are I suppose Infinite with multiple factors playing a role in compatibility and setup.
      Thank you the basic setup for VoIP is reasonably clear - I first have to get to grips with Compatability it seems.
      Thank you for the help.

    Rare modems have a direct VOIP connection built-in like the nighthawk CM2050 can you use that with like google business, or is that tied to using Comcast triple play if that's your provider, and would the call quality be better if you could, or is that just bandwidth dependant when it comes to calling quality.

    • @nextiva
      @nextiva  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey William, Nextiva has a list of recommended routers for our service (the NETGEAR Nighthawk X10 being one as of this video's posting), and you can check that list out here: www.nextiva.com/support/articles/what-routers-are-compatible-with-nextiva-service.html
      For more technical questions about modem/router setups, we recommend reaching out to the respective manufacturers. If you'd like to test your modem/router's ability to support VoIP, we have a VoIP speed test that can be used here: www.nextiva.com/resources/voip-speed-test.html

    if I have a WIFI router that is from Xfinity do I still need a motem as a home voip?

    • @nextiva
      @nextiva  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! Good question-- we recommend talking with your internet service provider to ensure you're set up with the right internet hardware at home. Some providers offer routers with the modem built in, otherwise it will be a separate piece of hardware as shown in the video.

    which brand IP phone can be use for home like comcast voice or other residential voip? which brand and model phone can plug and play just connect internet to any service?

    • @nextiva
      @nextiva  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bo Yu, most IP phones will work across a wide range of cloud service providers, but it's best to first check with the provider if they support the exact phone you want. If you'd like to see some of the IP phones Nextiva offers that would work seamlessly with our service, you can check them out here: www.nextiva.com/products/voip-hardware.html

    I want connect several VoIP phones in hotel, I want four VoIP phones to be able to call the front desk VoIP phone (not at the same time). Do i still need to assigned special VoIP numbers. Or what do I need to connect that since the phones will be calling only VoIP phones on my LAN

    I want to connect an office phone like the one in the video, do I still need a ethernet switch?

    • @nextiva
      @nextiva  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Carlos, great question! An ethernet switch is not an essential item for connecting your VoIP phone to your internet- its purpose is to provide more ethernet ports for convenience. Instead, the ethernet cable can connect the phone directly to your router and connect to the internet from there. For a more detailed explanation, check out our VoIP set up guide here: www.nextiva.com/blog/how-to-set-up-voip.html#s5
