    Thanks Tom for interviewing Patrick and I. I appreciate you including us in your video. The one item that Tom showed towards the end of our interview was a SS overcoat that someone had asked me to evaluate. Unfortunately, it was a total reproduction and we were waiting for the customer to return to pick it up. It was not anything that was part of my display and we do not own that item. Great job with our interview and we'd also like to thank Robby for his excellent photography.

      Thank you for pointing out the reproduction, that's very heartening to see a dealer going the extra mile to ensure that it's clear what it was. It can be disheartening for a new collector with all the fakes and reproductions you keep hearing about.

    I literally love watching you. Unlike a lot of dealers out to make a buck, your a collector as well, and you love this stuff. Your like a kid and it’s great. It’s a shame not every dealer is like you. You’ve got a great eye as well. I can’t wait to stop by your table one day. This hobby will suffer the day you retire for sure. Keep up the great job you do 👍!

    Another nice video Mr. Wittmann. Informative and fun too. If you happen to have an extra Firemen's bayonet scabbard around (to fit an approx. 10 1/2" bladed Tiger) preferrably with appropriate frog, I would be happy to purchase it for a fair price, finding one independent of the bayonet is proving difficult. Among numerous other items, one that I would have a great deal of reservation about is the plethora, nay 'avalanche' of engraved serving pieces, and candy and nut dishes, and lobster claw pics, and ashtrays, and wine goblets, and toenail clippers, and ice buckets, and soap dishes, and dog collars, etc. etc.that are available and reputedly having belonged to AH, or EB, or HG, or,or,or... so easy to have engraved after the fact. Over the years I have seen several firearms (some of great historical import, and owned by 'advanced' collectors, i.e. Colts, Winchesters, Henry's, Luger's, Walther's and others) that I have known to have been 'improved', with a much higher caliber of deep and intricate engraving than is required for the afore mentioned more mundane items. The chicanery and tomfoolery of all the reproductions, and the various 'doctored' and assembled pieces is what does the most damage to the hobby and the hobby's image and veracity. Also many of the militaria/gear pieces (of both axis and allies) were produced in numbers in the great hundreds of thousands of units (bayonets, helmets, hats, armbands, certain medals etc.) and yet are now commanding prices completely out of proportion to their scarcity (or lack) in my opinion. No wonder people are so receptive to the fakes. You tell a story about yourself as a young collector asking a more advanced collector for his opinion about a dagger you were not 100% percent sure about, and had asked, was it any good?" And his answer you said was, "good enough". I think that story speaks to, and illustrates, the problems of the hobby in a big way, and it's your story! Anyway enough soap boxing, thanks for an entertaining video, and I also very much enjoy your basement unboxings. Thanks. Sincerely. Nick

Gerhard had some choice pieces and even Walter too with the Austrian dagger....although always doubtful about any EB monograms these days....any jeweller can use a tool and hey presto ....a piece of plain 40s silver suddenly is worth 10 times more !

    I would like to tell you a little bit more about my father. Who was in Patton third infantry. We used to sit and talk about the war he told me so many stories and he would tell me the same story time and time again. And I never once told him dad you have told me the story before. The stories never change so they were obviously true clear into his late 80s he would tell me stories about his adventures after the fighting was over and they were stationed in Germany preparing to go to Japan. He got the Silverstar and a Purple Heart and a couple three good conduct memo I loved my dad he was a very brave man and tough as nails you told me they were getting ready to go into a town in Germany to push the Germans back and they were putting sandbags on the outside of the tanks. And Patton came through and told them get them son of a bitch in bags of those tanks there to take limes not save them. And Patton was thinking about the fuel

    • @munichbier1167
      @munichbier1167 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello
      Patton believed the sandbags would slow the tanks down and he wanted speed and assault tactics. He may have been correct but other nation crews wanted the extra protection.
