Thanks Nathan! Could you prepare a video with a pace strategy for a sub 3 hours marathon? Or maybe you can do a chart for others distance and times? I know that a negative split is the best option but how I know the correct pace to not over stress my muscle trying to recover lost time in first half of my race distance, thanks.

Go get it. I'm 44 and working towards 2:30.

Definitely a sub 2:35 is not easy. Long runs are probably harder than marathon itself just because marathon is a race atmosphere. Zap special was 5 miles easy, 6 miles at MP or slightly slower than MP, 6 miles at MP or slightly faster, the 3x1 mile at 10k pace with float mile recovery. After that, marathon isn't too hard.

You have the same mindset I have, always make training the most difficult part of theprocess. The race should be the celebration of that hard work. Make training so hard that anything anyone is going to throw at you in a race pales in comparison to it. 👊✊

@@rundreamachieve So I had my stitches out yesterday from knee surgery. Knee feels better. But doctor told me I probably shouldn't do any long distance running ever again. Is this something most doctors say to people after knee surgery? I feel like knee is better than before surgery but still going to keep biking a while. What do you think about doing 50% of my training in with pool running, 25% on the bike, and do my weekly workouts and a long run every 2 weeks on land?

@@cakej1 Glad you have it done and over with and most certainly don't let the doctors comment make you concerned. Docs say a lot of things to patients they shouldn't and that is one of them nor is he an athlete like you and I. Heal up and enjoy some downtime. I would focus 100% on pool running at least for a month until you are just about 100% healed up just to ensure you don't stress any ligaments/joints that could set you back further. Rest up brother.

@@rundreamachieve what do you think of running on snowshoes after a month of pool running. Between snow and sand I've run a lot on snowshoes in past with great translation to land running performances. I'm just trying to think outside the box so I can come back smart but still be competitive.

@@cakej1 I think it is a good plan Judson..working out on thick snow with snowshoes I would think wouldn't be as impactful on the joints as compared with running on concrete/pavement so should be good to go but not before spending a minimum of a month in the pool..yes, will be boring but it is the best option, outside of complete rest, you have. I know as I have been in the same predicament in the past and I already know you have the same drive and focus I have so I get your question 100%. Heal up man, you'll be back in top shape in no time. Appreciate the question. You'll going to have some great performances in 2022. Going for 2:30 at 44? You have my respect. I'm 45 and would have to get back in the shape of my life to even sniff at that kind of time.
