Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero, Blue Beetle.

From what I've read about this movie, Ted Kord is alive. He is missing. His sister is running his company. Hopefully we at least see Ted in a post credit scene.
As a Mexican that grew up on power rangers, beetleborgs, anime and the George Lopez show this movie looks amazing.
A childhood friend's father even had and still has the exact mullet George has in this trailer.
As a white boy who also grew up on these things, it also looks fucking sweet.

Really love the suit design, and his view while in the suit. The way the mask can show some emotion in the face works well, sort of like Spider-man and Deadpool's mask. Hopefully the rest of the movie turns out well, and is at least a fun watch.
As someone who only knows Blue Beetle from Young Justice, I’m so happy to see Jaime be the starting point for so many people-and I hope they touch upon the other two Beetles in the movie too. This gives me MMPR the Movie vibes and I’m all for it.
If you look at the "Batman's a facist!" scene, there's the other two Blue Beetle costumes :D I'm excited for it!

I’ve been looking forward to this movie, which James Gunn said will be first in the new reset DCU, since Blue Beetle was first exposed to me in the series premiere of Batman: The Brave and the Bold on Cartoon Network when it premiered in 2008 on my 12th birthday.
No he didn’t say that. He actually said this is totally disconnected. From Superman on is their universe.

@@SundevilRoadrunner I think he means he is disconnected in the fact that its not a cross over story or have any conflicting storylines and is just doing its own thing which means if he wants to introduce him into the DCU which is a possibility he can be integrated pretty easily.
@@warhawk_yt disconnected from the other 3 movies releasing this year. So my point exactly, so it's almost guaranteed blue Beetle is in the DCU unless there's a historic collapse like Shazam 2
I'm so happy and hyped for this 🙌🏻 Also makes me proud of being a Puerto Rican because the director Angel Manuel Soto is from here 🇵🇷 100% will go to the movie theater and support it. Another thing, a lot of scenes in the movie were filmed here...like when Jaime's family is screaming: "Jaime!, Jaime!", the building behind them is the Coliseo of Puerto Rico in San Juan.
Blue Beetle has been one of my favorite DC heroes in the last decade (god its been almost 20 years since Jaime's debut!) So I am definitely looking forward to this film!
this looks like a love letter to tokusatsu, shame people are mistaking that quality for CW jank. i can’t wait to see this movie.
I think this looks like a lot of fun. I’ve been enjoying all the recent Marvel and DC content, and I think I’ll be able to add this to that list.
While I’ve certainly grown to appreciate Ted Kord, Jaime is the Blue Beetle I grew up with (shoutout to the animated Batman: The Brave and The Bold series), and I think this looks great. I feel like this movie could pretty easily pull the same trick the first Shazam! movie did of being an absolute surprise hit.

Definitely glad this is standalone and hopefully avoids the DCEU's baggage, but I also hope this version of Jaime (or at least this cast) survives into the DCU. Such a cool character and Xolo seems to be a great fit.
With the way James Gunn has been promoting it, I believe this is gonna be the launching pad of the DCU post-Flash. Or at least, if it’s super successful, he and Safran will claim “oh yeah this was our starting point all along.”

It’s already been confirmed by Gunn that the flash and any movie after it will be part of the new dcu including blue beetle and aquaman 2.

I was like, "WOW. This actually looks cool!". I'll be taking my son to see it for his birthday. He's 14 and not really into movies, but he thought this trailer looked good. I honestly don't know how he's my child and doesn't like watching movies and if even he does watch one, he doesn't rewatch them because "I've seen it already." He's lucky he still has a home. LOL.
I was introduced to Blue Beetle in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. I also met Black and Green in Young Justice.
At least Jaime doesn’t have to keep it a secret from his family. Also, I didn’t know George Lopez was involved. This film might end up being funnier than I thought.
If I were to give Xolo a role in the MCU, it’d be Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099. I’d also make Mary Mouser the next Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat.

Someone on the production team grew up on FFVII cause not only do we get the buster sword but we get a limit break (blade beam) too and I'm here for it 🙏🏾
I am so excited for this movie. I love Jaime, and am also so glad that because of the movie they are reprinting his original comic run so I can finally read those. I fully plan to see this movie multiple times.

I'm definitely watching this in theaters. I was very excited to see this trailer and I am not disappointed. Can't get enough of it! I truly hope this character and the whole cast is included in the future of DCU.

I'm pretty excited for this! I'm not super familiar with Jaime in the comics. I read a bit of his Rebirth run and maybe a Titans story he's in. My connection to him is from Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Young Justice. Love him in both those shows. His suit and powers are so cool!
I'm a total Marvel guy but this looks great. James Gunn said today that this is 100% self-contained, but if it does well, it seems likely he'll appear in other DCU films. Having Spider-Man appear in Civil War was much easier because he was already widely known by general moviegoers, where Blue Beetle is not, so it makes more sense to me to start BB off in his own origin film.
fr. I was introduced to bluebeetle through the batman brave and the bold TV show and kinda excited to see his relationship with batman. Cuz from I can remember, He had a Peter parker and Tony stark relationship with batman.
Honestly this was a breath of fresh air. As much as I love Bats and the JL members, We have had so much of them forever I could deal with letting the big dogs rest a bit. Give us some of the younger less known Heroes, Get a younger audience back into DC. Then we can revisit Batman and Superman.

My understanding is that this was originally going to be a part of the old new post-Flash timeline, along with Batgirl, and it's simply being retrofitted into the new new timeline because it was possible to do so thanks to being more self-contained than Batgirl (which had Michael Keaton as Batman, which obviously wouldn't make sense with the new plan).
This is a day one for sure,cant wait to learn more about this character. Gunn did confirm this is in the DCU which is great!!

I'm just grateful we finally have a live action superhero movie with a Latino as the lead hero. Everything about this trailer and everything we have seen from this movie has been stellar so far. Hopefully Marvel sees the feedback to this trailer and movie by planning the announcement of a potential MCU movie that is the equivalent to Blue Beetle which is a Latino-led movie with a predominantly Latino cast and a Latino director on board ofc but in the MCU, especially with the recent certain changes that they're going through right now. Like they cannot ignore that DC is doing a movie like this and not give us their Latino superhero movie.

I had been commenting after Ms. Marvel, which was a great story around a Muslim family in Jersey, that Marvel had been doing a disservice to Hispanics/Latin@s with a loooong overdue story like that for all the time the people have been in the US. I also said Namor/Talocan does not count because that is not contemporary; I want to see a story with the family dialogue, tamales, tacos and the culture lol It looks like although a semi-comedic portrayal, DC's Blue Beetle may accomplish this with all its shortcomings from WB heads.
@@djoscartj Well it looks like all the latino lead projects so far in the mcu(canon and non canon)are/will be shows.There is no latino lead movie in the mcu looking at the phase 5 and 6. Yo-yo for example had a web series from agents of shield,and moon knight in the mcu is latino jewish and had is own show and nova sam could be the a main lead with nova richard in the upcoming nova mcu series
As for a latino lead marvel movie that is not mcu one is coming up from sony marvel called El Muerto.
Of course there is the spiderman miles animated latino black lead films that are from sony marvel.
Oh and namor in the mcu is native american anyway and not latino and it's contemporary(it takes place in mcu earth modern times with a short flash back of the past) but it looks like he is not getting his own movie like hulk is not getting one again because of another studio.

This trailer evoked a lot of Shang Chi vibes, especially with the sort of buddy relationship with the male and female lead. Looks super fun and eeven though I am not a DC fan in general, this has piqued my interest.

I thought this and Aquaman 2 take place pre-reset but are just releasing after The Flash anyway. If what Adam is saying is what's right and this is post-reset, I'm curious to see what happens with the character. I've loved Blue Beetle since Batman The Brave and the Bold and Xolo is amazing in Cobra Kai so I'm so excited for this movie!

This movie looks like a heap of fun. Loved the Kamen Rider vibe and the literal final fantasy 7 buster sword reference. I feel like the people behind the camera did some homework for the culture they are representing in the movie. Cant wait to check this one out.

I just read an article in the El Paso KVIA news… apparently some folks from El Chuco/El Paso, TX are upset the El Paso area wasn’t represented in the previews… for some reason I remember seeing BB also having a connection to Albuquerque, too, right?

I can see why they sent this to HBO Max. The scene of home turning into the beetle looks cool and the end sword scene look cool, but the rest looks like Shang-Chi meets Shazam 1 vibes meets Spy Kids.

I never really noticed how Spider-Man-esque Blue Beetle was, until George Lopez had a very Uncle Ben like moment in the trailer. Very excited for it.
Jamie is a Teen. I wanna see Jamie and The beetle argue with each other. :D So much awesome lines when they fight. Especially when the Scarab is broken and choses to be on the side of earth instead of the Reach.

This is part of the DCU
For me I was feeling a little bit Aquaman, a little bit of Black Panther, a little bit of Shazam, a little bit of Iron Man, and a little bit of Shang-Chi. I know what you mean about Shazam, it's like he's become the vessel for a power that he doesn't fully understand, but the vessel is kind of a mix of an Iron Man suit and a Green Lantern power ring. I think the colour palette matches more with Aquaman and Black Panther (both BP movies, honestly), and the story of an American minority character coming into powers (as well as the bus) while working a menial job reminded me of Shang-Chi. None of these things are criticisms, by the way. In fact, all of those movies were pretty good, so it's probably a good sign that it's gonna hit some similar beats.
Hope the scarab is more aggressive but I’m excited regardless
