One thing I loved about this trailer, that’s not specifically about the movie, is that they showed the comics it was inspired by. It’s really great to see that and probably gives the comics a boost in sales as well.
Gunn pointing to the comics during that slate announcement got me to immediately pick up Supergirl Women of Tomorrow and it's now become one of my favorite comics of all time.
I like how at the end of these new DC trailers, they make recommendations for comics and encourages viewers to visit comic shops. Definitely a cool move!

I really, really, really hope this movie is a success. For this to be the unofficial start of James Gunn's DCU, this NEEDS to deliver greatly, and people have to support this. By the way, the voice of the Scarab is played by singer Becky G (aka Trini from the 2017 Power Rangers movie).
Honestly, it just looks like more Marvel fluff. From the trailer, it looks like it's following the same, formulaic blueprint CBMs all seem to boiled down to. New hero, goofy & fun montage of events before vs. bad guy outro.
I think the main character has a Peter Parker vibe to him. Also, the family actually has a fun realistic personality to them (no offense to Shazam). 😂 Definitely gonna try it out based on this trailer

It's going to need to make 300-400 million to break even. Don't think it's going to get there when it's not getting released in China which is an enormous market. The Flash just bombed horribly and so did Shazam 2. The Flash is struggling to get to 300 million worldwide despite Flash being a way more popular character and Keaton as Batman. And Shazam 2 only hit 150 million domestically and 360 million worldwide. DC just ain't it right now.

I'm excited to see this movie and I hope it succeeds. Literally my only gripe so far is that the scarab has an AI robot sounding voice instead of an alien sounding one.
That trailer had parts that gave me heavy first Iron Man movie vibes. The enemy getting what seems like a beefed up scarab similar to when Jeff Bridges got the beefier Iron man style suit. Even has the fight in the street with cars taking collateral. The lady that gives him the scarab even kind of fills the Pepper Potts archetype. He's basically a teenager who got Ironman powers and his family knows. Which is good cause Iron man was a proven formula that worked.
I think the Ironman comparison while reasonable when we consider host and suit interaction..I think the fact that the suit and its functioning is pretty accurate to the version it was inspired from i.e Injustice 2 needs to be acknowledged..and they pretty much nailed the aspect.
I know of blue beetle but im not super familiar with his character, but this looks really good and I'm super excited to expand my knowledge on the character now! Great video guys!
