    i love your video. We will be in Athen in August. Our hotel is close to the doughnut place. We will follow your walking tour. How long did it take you? We are planning our tour as we will be only 2 nights in Athens.

      Richard, I'm so glad you liked the video. To answer your question...about 30 - 40 minutes. There's other walking tours you may find interesting as well, and since you are going at the busiest time and only have two nights, may I suggest you check out the the video: New system for Acropolis tickets at th-cam.com/video/pQMJ3kCWvww/w-d-xo.html - because there are now limits on the number who can see this not only for the day, but also every hour. So, you may want to book before you go because this guarantees you have a place. But I was also go as early in the morning as possible to avoid closure due to heat. Thanks again, and if you have any questions, just let me know.

      @@GoExploreGreece Thank you for the quick reply! Trust me, I am watching all your walking tours video at the moment, while working like the syntagma, athens cathedral and of course from the Hadrian's Library to Monasteraki. We booked our combo tickets for AM tour too. I signed up for a free walking tour too that starts at Syntagma. Should I proceed with it? or just follow your video?

      Glad you're watching other videos and booked tickets to the AM. In terms of the free walking tour I'm not sure of the details, but since it's free it's worth a go. I really hope you enjoy your two days in Athens, and if you have any questions now and in the future please feel free to ask. Thanks again.

      Im watching the Athens: Evening Walking Tour in 4K now. Will definitely go to Attica to try those pies. We will try to get more in on the Athens Happy Train to go to the Panathenaic stadium instead of us walking. By the way, our hotel is Athens Gate Hotel. I believe is pretty close to the stadium and the temple of Olympian Zeus. Do you suggest to go to the South Entrance of the Parthenon? I'm just concern that we will not see the Propylaea and the Temple of Athen Nike first?. Like we will start from the back to front?

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Go from the entrance which is opposite the Acropolis Museum. That way you'll get to see Theatre of Dionysus, then Odeon of Heroes Atticus, then make you way up and through the Propylaea. As you come out you will see the Parthenon. Turn right before you walk to it and at the end is the Temple.of Athena Nike. Don't forget the Erechtheion with Caryatids (statues), and.for best photos of the front of the Parthenon, go to the opposite side when you first see it as there's no scaffolding. Also, don't forget to look over the walls as there's spectacular views. Go to the point where you see the Greek flag on the pole.

    This is the first of your Athens videos I have watched and I like the way you show the entire route and don't jump around from place to place. Your commentary is just enough to make me curious to explore the area further. I am trying to decide between 2 hotels at either end of this walk, the Hera Hotel near the Acropolis Museum and A for Athens on Monastiraki Square. Your walk takes us through a very nice area of the Plaka so I am leaning a bit toward the more peaceful Acropolis Museum area. I'm not sure if the A for Athens will be too loud at night. But would the Hera Hotel add a lot of extra walking back and forth to the Plaka/Monasteraki area? Thoughts?

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much Jill for your lovely comment. It's always difficult for me to decide whether to just film the entire route as one big take, or would people become bored because there's no 'amazing things" happening every two minutes. But I keep experimenting and enjoy trying new ways.
      In terms of the two hotels you mentioned, it's not really an easy choice is it. A for Athens is right on Monastiraki Square and would essentially carry a greater risk of noise late evening and into night because of the square being a focal point for people. You see it's the main place where people meet, and there's often loud entertainment. Also, there's a rooftop bar which closes very late, and whilst you've got to go there regardless for the views and drinks (try the zombie), there's that to consider.
      Now I'm not saying it's going to be noise which will keep you up well into the night, but you don't know which location your room will be. I would suggest take a look at the reviews on Google and tripadvisor and filter for noise. However, it's much more central to the main things you will want to see, with many just 5-15 minutes walk away. There's also going to be a lot more great places to eat and drink that'll be easier to get to.
      As for the Hera Hotel, it should be quiter even though it's a short walk from the main road in and out of the city, but you will be much further away from most things you will want to see. There's also that walk back you may have to do a few times after walking all day.

      @@GoExploreGreece Thank you so much for your thoughts on my hotel question. The points you've made are the same sort of things that I go back and forth on. I agree that the things that will make the Monasteraki Square location more noisy/busy are also the reasons I'd want to stay in the area.

      @@GoExploreGreece I have now watched a few more of your walking tour videos and I still think this video with its real time walk and a few short snippets of commentary is my favourite. I learn more about the place and appreciate it more with little bits on information. You could do this with the small voice overs or add short typed banners of information and not take away from the lovely walk. It would also be nice to have your route (the street names) written out in the discription so that I could recreate it myself. Keep experimenting - you're on the right track!

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Gill, thanks for your comment and suggestions, especially your ideas regarding having the street names come up. Although street names are not always so easily placed and recognisable as in the UK, it's certainly something I'm going to look into to see how it can be done. Perhaps a map of sorts which the person can download. Anyway, thanks again for your comment.

    Why don't you give directions and street names such a waste of time

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Eric, I'm really sad you found this video in your words "such a waste of time". I spent a lot of time, money and effort to produce something which most people out there have found very useful. The problem with street names is that they are in Greek and those who don't read and understand the language will not find it helpful at all. In fact, for a few videos I did provide street names, and this exactly was the problem...people found it very confusin. As to directions, I'm not sure what you mean, as the walk itself provides exactly that. Also, each of the places I mention are in fact an aide to direction.

    • @ericbeckett4474
      @ericbeckett4474 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GoExploreGreece yes I agree people can't read Greek that's why they put it in English underneath the Greek so no excuse there I got lost I plaka today your video would have helped if you gave locations and directions just walking around filming is nice if you don't want to get around How hard can it be to add a little more info Ihope you take this as constructive criticism and not an insult stay calm

    • @GoExploreGreece
      @GoExploreGreece  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Eric, I hear what you say about signs being in English, but not all of them have the English translation. I'm sorry you got lost, but you see this video is not about providing a detailed guided tour map to cover every possible outcome. However, Google maps have a great method for producing your own detailed routes, or you could use one of the many free city-centre maps available at lots of places. Once again, I'm sorry you just didn't find my video useful, but maybe there's something out there for you which would.
