On the barren swamp there’s an earlier farming spot where you kill a mining puppet for 1k ergo each time. Killing him takes around 15-20 seconds and allows for an earlier efficient farming. Ofc this late game will be better but not as useful unless you’re going for NG+ as it is literally on the last to second last chapter. The earliest spot to farm I know of is before the Black Rabbit fight inside the bar with the merchant
I prefer to run the abandoned house star gazer. Kill the 5 human enemies inside, warp to star gazer repeat. On NG+ it’s 10k a run. That literally takes one minute
Theres one more carcass a little to the right of the bridge that goes to the stairs with the clown, you can go a little out of your way to agro him too making it two small carcasses and one big guy VS one clown puppet for an extra 250 ergo per run, barley takes a second to do and also makes the clown frown (die) a little faster plus it adds up on repeated runs.

Good farming spot but this is not a glitch, puppets are ordered to kill carcasses by their king so they kill them.

Great strat! Was hoping the game used the two enemies against each other more than that 1 basement section.
Man the ergo drops are pretty pathetic in this game I have to spend most of mine on consumables.
On NG this is my favourite area for grind ergo, I got around 8K for one trip (not all enemy), I’m on NG+ now, will farm here again 💪🏻
