Great music playing great sounds you never heard. Before in 1978 when I heard first then got see them then everybody wanted to play the music even rappers who they said they like it
I bought this single when it came out several months before are Friends Electric. Tremendous band. I bought several of their singles and albums too. I was already into Kraftwerk, Ultravox, Can etc so it was a natural progression.
Great bit of early Numan. You are spot on that was indeed Billy Currie of Ultravox. Great video cheers!
At the time I was never really into Gary Numan but I can appreciate his music more now. Same goes for Kraftwerk.
Atmosphere is right! This song got bounce. Who doesn't picture a rap artist flowing off this beat? Gary Numan is Legend. Years ahead of his time. I haven;t checked your library in some time, but a recent track, "My Name is Ruin" is thrilling. And the live performance with his teen(?) daughter is thrilling! You can feel how much joy he's having onstage with her.
Yes Billy played keyboards for Gary in 79 until Ultravox reformed with new dinger Midge Ure. For the live gigs Garg knew he'd need a full band so hired Cedric Sharpley (Drums) Chris Payne (keyboards) Billy Currie (keyboards) Trevor Grant on guitarand Paul Gardiner (from tubeway army on bass guitar)
This album always stimulated my imagination when i was young, but it does indeed feel a bit more foreboding now.
Hola from New Mexico. Great commentary. I hate corporations. I hate AI. Numan's subject matter seems relevant. Power to the people
That IS Billy Cuurie. It's also Howard Jones' semi naked man in chains on drums...
The drummer was Cedric Sharpley (RiP) who had NOTHING to do with Howard Jones OR chains
No it wasn't. That's Cedric Sharpley playing drums. NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT PILLOCK DANCING FOR Howard Jones. R.I. P Cedric
Yes Billy currie helped Numan out sometimes. The song is set in a dystopian future where mach men robot like machines rule the planet. Numan was very influenced by Philip k dick etc. Good review I hope you do more Numan 😊
Suggestions for the future M.E, complex, Film's, I dream of wires, we are glass, I die u die just for starters my mate. 👽🎧
Good evening 🌅🌅🌅
Good evening to you, hope you're havig a good one
@@gpreactions3194 yes all good thanks
Are friends electric just made the media and other bands stand open mouthed at this vision from nowhere. Didn't a lot of Tubeway Army ideas come from a Sci-fi Novel he'd been writing? Agree it's a frightening 1984 world even creating machines to copy the bad and good side of past human life. A1 probably has good points but the possible misuse is horrible.
