This is my first frsky radio. I used Spektrum and Futaba. I am very happy with it and the ergonomics and openTX. The quality for the money is on par. It not premium built radio. But for under $100 and the performance it exceeds the expectation.

    Thanks for the video.
And a big thanks for the discount code.
I went ahead and ordered the X9 Lite. For someone like me just starting to get into this hobby and wanted a reasonable tx is very important and X9 lite tick the budget.
I already have an evolution but scared of the failsafe issues to get my quad in the air. I wanted to eliminate all other issues with my training so I can concentrate on my flying rather than troubleshooting.
Hopefully this tx will help me achieve that.
    Cheers

Wish you would do a video on the Frsky XSR-SIM Dongle.
A wireless connection for your Frsky radio and your computer.
This will allow you to practice flying on your computer with the appropriate software.
    Always enjoy you videos.

If you able to solder 2 wire to each other, you could do it yourself. Arduino leonardo + any ppm frsky compatible receiver + some time for flashing arduino, and voila!

Thanks Lee for the detailed review. I'm with you on the fact that if this radio is made towards new pilots, FrSky should have shaped the firmware to make it simpler to setup. Frsky has a long way to go in terms of "user friendliness".

I'm just wondering or maybe I'm missing something (I'm also new as well) why are they making this more complicated for the newbies: uploading firmware files, sounds a little tedious, if you want to fly with receivers like the xm+.... I don't believe most newbies are computer literate, and just want to go out and fly, Personally speaking! I would rather get a Jumper and be done with it! I just bought another Jumper because it's just more straight forward...Thank you so much for what you do , we appreciate it!

I am using the little Flysky receiver, looking at this video and others, it’s a bit of a potluck, which would be best for me but allowing for further advancement ( cost not an issue just looking for feedback from your wealth of hands on knowledge)

I don't think releasing this radio without D16 was an oversight, more like a cynical attempt to force ACCESS onto users and lock out Jumper. I assume the later firmware release which includes D16 was forced on FrSky by consumer reaction, and hopefully it will soon ship with this version.

MY opinion. I think the folks at FrSky lost their minds with this one. The unusual battery setup, plus no out-of-the-factory ACCST nor D8 backward compatibility just to mention a few. Not very newbie friendly, in my opinion.

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  หลายเดือนก่อน

Many share your thoughts. This was when many of the original Frsky customers realised that Frsky wasn't interested in preserving compatability with there investment but, rather, wanted to sell them another radio. FrSky owned this market segment and had it all to lose, but this mis-step created a gap in the market for vendors like RadioMaster and EdgeTX... Happy flying!

      @@Painless360Being pressed for time, I went ahead with some calculations with information here and there from the internet. Each cylindrical shaped # 18650; 1S 1P, 3.6V, 3350mAh battery is: Length ( L ) 65mm and Diameter ( D ) 18mm. There are two ( 2 ) of them placed end-to-end in series. Thus need L 130mm x Height ( H ) 18mm x Width ( W ) 18mm; maximum.
The battery tray is also removable, thus providing more room. It screws onto the back-cover with a total of four ( 4 ) screws; two ( 2 ) on each end. Power from the batteries to the main circuit-board is simply via 2-pin connector wired to a black & white colors wires cable.

As usual, we, you are paying FrSky for a not quite finished/polished product and forcing you and the community to be their beta testers and product support! You and others often write the manual that should have been! Oh how I wish they would just let you and other techs help them in product development before the release instead of aftermath. Well I am partially to blame because I am willing to purchase. Well no...come to think I am still driving the original Taranis, non-Plus handed down to me by Dad...an early adopter after modding hisTurnigy 9x that he passed to me and which rekindled my RC interest. I continue to mod my non-plus with R9, micro usb adapter at the top of the radio! , 6 pos switch, hall effect because the original gimbals finally failed just recently. They may make and sell a boatload of the new stuff, but this community will make it what it should have been until Jumper or others show them a new business model. And the community will find great ways to mod ACCESS protocol gear. Can't Wait!
