Thank you thank you thank you!! Some great stuff here man. Not many channels break things down the way you do. We can tell how passionate you are about the music you teach, and it's really contagious. I'll be waiting patiently for my favorite jam, the Riverport Gin! That one is on my bucket list for sure. God Bless
That’s so nice of you to say, Karl, thank you! There are a lot of other Phish songs I want to get to before I do another Gin - but when I do, it will be the Riverport Gin!
Amar you are the man, love this stuff, keep it coming. I would even through you a couple bucks for all the hard work, just tell me how. My favorite Jam(s) that are type 1 and can be broken down are 8/16/96 DWD & 8/1/99 Tweezer. The DWD from 12/31/99 would be a monster, but too long probably. Thanks again.
Hey Eric, thanks for the requests and the offer, that’s generous of you! If you’re enjoying the videos all I ask is that you share them with people that you think would enjoy them 🙂
Do you guys remember the Auld Lang Sign (sp?)->DWD jam on a New Years show from earlier 90’s. It was before the yearly MSG NYE. Is one of the most epic things I’ve ever heard.
Thanks man. Can't wait to see more lessons. Althea would be awesome, and any generic videos on just how to play and sound more like Jerry and Trey would be really great too. Thanks for all your hard work.
Hey Mack, I will definitely do a lesson on Taste in the future. Let me know if you can find a good live version that a) has video on TH-cam and b) is not part of an official Phish release
have you listened to 11/22/94 Cry Baby Cry solo. I think that solo is a great example of how Trey changes keys seamlessly during the solo, while simueataneously destroying the rhythm and would be a good representation of how play like him in most songs. That's also on my list of getting the "Amar Treatment".
The funniest part of finding this, for me, was that while trying to learn how to solo and improvise, I stumbled into a few of these licks myself but only incoherent parts I could not string together. I'll be trying to learn this one, honestly trying.
You do a really great job of figuring out solos note for note and tabling them out. Would like to see more jerry Garcia solos. Not crazy about treys playing style.
dude you gotta learn to talk less about how sick trey is and more about what you're actually doing with your fingers. i can't even get the second bar because you don't explain it whatsoever and you play it like twice and move on. why don't u take a second to show less advanced players what you are actually doing rather than assuming i can play along with you while you nerd out about a jam
Thanks for the feedback, can you give me some more detail about what you’d like to see/ hear in terms of learning riffs? I put the tab up on the screen and thought that it would be enough for beginner players to understand how the riff sounds and should be played
Thanks for your above and beyond effort that you put into these lessons.
Bless
My pleasure, Nathan. Thank you for watching!
You are doing so much to enrich the music community, thank you for all your time and effort, much appreciated.
just found ur videos today and they are so helpful. thanks.
Great job.
Dude, this is fantastic. The quality of your videos is amazing. Thank you Amar!!
great video as always
Huge fan. You are a great instructor.
I really appreciate that, thank you!

I figured that would be the case. Just so many great gin jams out there!! Any ideas for what's coming next ?? Don't feel pressured I'm just curious :)
This is my favorite channel. Haven't seen a video or lesson I dont like.

Great stuff man. Would really like to see a 12/30/97 breakdown of the DWD. Cheers!
Hey Tuesdays, do you mean the 12/29/97 Disease?
LOL YES
: )

love it, thanks so much. Are you able to post backing tracks to your lessons, if so it would help so much
Hey Derek, I don't really know how to make a good backing track but I'll see what I can do!

Also any Taste past '96, especially the solo part at the end where walks up the neck.

I haven’t listened to 11/22/94 in a long time but I’ll check it out, thanks for the heads up!

2:16 is my favorite moment of this jam for some reason...maybe you have some insight to what happens right then
I cover 2:16 in part 4 or 5 of this series. I’ll be breaking down literally every measure of this jam in the next few weeks!
Takes to the next level!
Hi amar, love your work! Truely amazing. What amp do you use with this prs?
you do a good job on the first bar you actually explain it then u skip over the second sort of touch on the third and explain the last
What’s pickups are loaded in that PRS?
I was at The Great Went 👍 😂 3 days
