    FFXI was such an amazing game, and because you spend SO MANY hours in each area, the music becomes etched in your memory. So even though it has been forever, hearing those songs takes me right back. Thank you for showing that soundtrack the love it deserves and for putting so much effort into an awesome playlist!

    Thanks again for the great mix and commentary! Selbina brings back so many memories. It was the place I logged out for the last time in Final Fantasy XI, a San d'Oria Taru Taru White Mage with a million MP. That one will always have a special place in my heart. :)

    You say it was a delight to connect with fellow fans, but the pleasure was all mine (and I am sure this is true for many other listeners too). Whiling away the hours, revisiting some cherished melodies in new forms. Engaging in what feels like an asynchronous conversation: learning some tidbits about the development behind the music or the games they featured in, or indeed about yourself. I have enjoyed this follow-up playlist immensely, as you can tell!
    How fitting that you should choose VIII as one of the closing pieces - for that was the FF that began it all for me. Back then I was a kid getting wrecked by a T. Rex; though I prevailed once I accidentally summoned Shiva. It took me many years to rediscover FF, and interestingly, it was the music that tipped me off. Hearing the Prelude many years later made me finally realise that "that game" I had played so many years ago and found so exciting, was none other than a Final Fantasy game.
    If you have another playlist in the works, you can be sure I'll set some time aside for a listen (and watch!). I wonder if you have also perhaps amassed a treasure trove of unofficial, e.g. fan, covers and arrangements too? I would not be surprised if the tome on which you sit, O Teal Tantarian, contained such musical wisdom too! A particular favourite of mine is the Masterplan FFXI Tribute album. Have you heard it?

    • @tealtantarian
      @tealtantarian  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have a lot of fan covers that I love and have made a few myself, although they’re a little harder to make a video of. SE seems quite reasonable about protecting their copyright on TH-cam as long as everything is tagged properly and they’re getting any monetisation (which is very fair!) When it comes to fan covers it opens up the video to 10+ rights owners who might copyright strike the channel and it scares me a bit. 😵‍💫 I might release a video of my covers though… they’re already out there if one wants to find them. I might even get copyright struck by myself if I make a video now I think about it. 🤔😂

    • @paradoxicaldragon
      @paradoxicaldragon 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@tealtantarian that is a very fair concern. I guess one option is to make a TH-cam playlist, but this isn't always convenient. Depends on how the artists have published their tracks.

    • @tealtantarian
      @tealtantarian  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@paradoxicaldragon Aye, it's certainly possible. If I go down that road I think I'll just reach out to the creators personally and get their permission directly, since I quite like making the videos - both the little comments and such but I also edit the audio a fair bit so it's a smooth listening experience track-to-track. All takes a lot of time though 😂 I'm actually working on a big video essay about FFXI so that will be the next thing to come out here I think!

    I have never played FF XI, but its music and especially Distant Worlds draw me in to listen to it every now and then. Hell, I even sing along when it plays. It's like this nostalgia bait for something I have no nostalgia over. Today it's like a time capsule, you can find the original playonline sites in their original forms and resolutions even now. It's not a world I've explored, or even entered. Neither I am planning to enter it. I only hear the songs and stories of others, and hold both close to my heart. The memories sound so happy it makes me happy too. Vana'diel is quite literally a distant world for me, a story that I can only retell as a third-hand account.
    Distant Worlds is still one of "those" songs. I'll grow old listening to it, much like I'm gonna grow old with this franchise in general. When I have kids, or if my friends' kids come and ask about me of Final Fantasy, I'll be that bald old guy from the meme with a tear on his eye.
    I still like hanging out here, I'm taking this a song or two at a time. Congratulations on the 10x watch-to-sub rate!

    Another fantastic playlist! This one has so many of the pieces that I love - "Descendent of Shinobi" and "Fisherman's Horizon" get stuck in my head all the time, and FFXV was also represented! :D And my all-time favorite: "You're Not Alone." I adored this arrangement, especially because the epic violin reminded me of the arrangements for "Primrose, the Dancer" and "A Settlement in the Red Bluffs" on the Octopath Traveler Break & Boost album (one of my most-played video game albums!). I decided to look it up, and it turns out that Atsuki Yoshida helped with the arrangements and performed the violin for each of the songs! Super cool, and I'm definitely going to check out the rest of the FF acoustic album!
    Thanks again for putting together these playlists! You do a wonderful job, and they are very much enjoyed! :)

    Si te sirve y no los conoces te puedo recomendar unos cuantos discos más para tus siguientes videos, que no mucha gente conocen
    * FINAL FANTASY Record Keeper 1-5
    El juego fue exclusivamente para celulares y actualmente solo se encuentran en Japón pero tuvo 5 discos increíbles en dónde les hicieron arreglos exclusivos para el mismo, incluso tienen una canción de la celebración del 30 aniversario de 25 min de duración la cual es sublime
    *Folktale Recollection -FINAL FANTASY
    Este como su nombre lo indica tiene un enfoque al folclore, solo tiene canciones de FF 4 y 5 pero son bastantes interesantes
    *Radiant Melodies - FINAL FANTASY VII
    Aún que no tiene mucho tiempo que salió apenas y se conoce lo cual es una lastima por qué tiene temas con un enfoque diferente
    SQUARE ENIX Chill Out Arrangement Tracks - AROUND 80's MIX
    Este es fácil de encontrar pero le pasa lo mismo que el anterior, si tienes una oportunidad te lo recomiendo
    Y ya para finalizar toda la saga de SQ que son
    SQ Swing
    SQ Chips
    Beer SQ
    Rare SQ

    Another thing that I would recommend is possibly listening to the arrangement album for FFV (Final Fantasy V Dear Friends), favorite track from the album is Lenna's theme: th-cam.com/video/wC0lQgJgvq8/w-d-xo.html. Not only this, but did you know that Uematsu made a standalone album in the early 90s called Phantasmagoria? Which also has a vocal arrangement of the main theme of final fantasy th-cam.com/video/AIA3zXs8nOM/w-d-xo.html. The rest of the album is original and great as well, having a very similiar sound to 16 bit era Final Fantasy, my favorite original track from the album is Mirrors: th-cam.com/video/3JzbgWWMDAs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8yWIjFwtAtrg4GjO. Do have a question though, do you possibly collect VGM as a hobby? Otherwise, great video for exposing the wider FF community to these amazing arranged albums.

      Hey! I’ve listened to all of those - in era too 😂 they’re are both great. I wouldn’t call myself a vgm collector really. I do compose video game music though and it’s really helpful to have lots of original high quality music available to help mix and master tracks. Why do you ask?
