    I have said this on every platform that I have visited for the last 2+ years. Terry F. is one of the best young GMs in the league. A forward thinker, outside the box, with a bright mind. He continues to make to tough decisions from the beginning with the move on from the two franchise players (Julio & Matt) to avoiding Belichic to hiring Rah. and plus-sing up this QB room etc.

    Just read an article suggesting that the Rams are trying to figure out a succession plan for Matt Stafford. They let Carson Wentz go in FA, and don't really have a solid plan going forward. How nice not to have to worry about that.

    After Atlanta wins the South this year, the crow eaters will be in hiding. Penix has the best arm in the draft.....once he downloads Cousin's head knowledge, the Falcons will be set for a Superbowl run. The D is ready, the O line is ready....

    Imagine after trading for Rodgers the Jets draft a 1st round QB or after trading for Stafford the Rams drafted a QB in the 1st round. NFL is complicated you have limited resources you have to TIME THINGS OUT so you don;t waste resources and make it more likely your team wins. This ensures less wins now and later.

    I wonder how he mislead Kirk to signing there, did he tell Kirk about building the team around him, and using a top 10 pick on someone they want to replace him with instead of helping him by building a great team, could have given Kirk another weapon which he needs and the offense needs. You are also wasting a few good years of Pennix's career, created a possible QB controversy. i dont trust Fontenot because I am sure he mislead Kirk into signing there and not infoming him of what they were planning on doing.

  • @thetrevorsimpson-u8o
    @thetrevorsimpson-u8o 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    People keep talking about GB like what they did worked. It did not work. After they drafted Love (who contributed nothing) they reeled off two 13-3 seasons where they lost in the playoffs by one score. Instead of Love they could have drafted Tee Higgens or Pittman Jr. or even a Patrick Queen any of those players and others could have made the difference in a 1 score game. WHY LESSEN YOUR CHANCES TO WIN NOW and WIN LATER. Imagine last year's Jordan Love team if they had some top FAs they could have used Aaron Rodgers money on to secure. They almost beat SF but imagine if they had 99 million dollars to spend on free agents to give Jordan Love. You are handicapping your team now and later. You ensure will not win as much.
    The only way this can work out is if Kirk wins a SB then it doesn't matter if you wasted a #8 pick on Penix or if Penix wins a SB in the next 2 years should Kirk get hurt in the next 2 years.

    I would have nixed that instantly if I was Blank. You just used 180 million of my money and now you want to draft another QB for 3 years from now with a top 10 pick when the teams needs a pass rusher, another big time playmaker. Could have traded down and gotten multiple picks that could help this year. Latu went 15th, could have gotten Latu, plus a couple more high picks for that #8 pick, instead you got a talented QB who may end up being good, but will have to probably wait till the year 2027 to find out and have any impact at all. You can also get a talented QB in any draft if QB is your number one priority. I think of many prospects with bright futures who they can get late in the first round in other years. You have also maybe started a QB controversy, if Cousins has a bad game or two, you have damaged Cousins trust as Fontenot mislead him thinking he would build around him, maybe Kirk wouldnt have signed there if he knew they were gonna do that. By every measure this was a terrible pick, except I like Pennix and think he is a talented QB, just should have drafted him and not signed Kirk, thats it.

    • @davidwillis8623
      @davidwillis8623 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Blank was on board with it, he has had elite QB play from Vick to Ryan, but also seeing the Herrington days and the Ridder days, he knows QB is too important than to leave it to chance

  • @gsp3428
    @gsp3428 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I would have traded down, because teams will give up alot for the QB they want, I would guess Minnesota would probably given you the 12th and 23rd pick for that #8 pick to get the QB they wanted for sure. Not sure why Blank allowed Fontenot to just completely waste a top 10 pick on someone who you dont plan on playing for years.

  • @thetrevorsimpson-u8o
    @thetrevorsimpson-u8o 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    He says they are willing to trade but look how they fail EVERY time they attempt to do that. Motes Sweat, Danielle Hunter, Hassan Reddick, Moving back into the first round, no team fails so much as the Falcons under Terry. It can be done Sweat went to Chicago. Reddick to the Jets. Hunter to Texans. Minnesota traded back into the 1st round for Dallas. EVERY team succeeds except Terry's Falcons always coming in 2nd best. I have zero faith Terry will succeed in adding any more studs to this team he has a history of failure.

  • @thetrevorsimpson-u8o

    • @gsp3428
      @gsp3428 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      correct. Could have done so much with that #8 pick. I would have traded down, and traded down again, gotten Latu who is probably the best edge rusher, a cornerback and one more WR with that #8 pick by trading down. Could have gottent 3 immediate players who will help immensely this year and the future, and you drafted a waterboy.

    Every time ATL tries to justify this move it makes no sense. "We expect to be picking high next few years" - then trade up like every team does SF BUF KC etc. There are good QBs every year very rarely is there a barren QB year. 80 percent of 1st round QBs bust there is no guarantee Penix will not bust Kirk made it do you didn't have to likely waste a 1st round pick. Just because a desperate team in LAV wanted Penix and was willing to overdrraft him doesn't mean you should too. There are always teams in the top 10 willing to trade out to let you get a QB because they just recently drafted or signed a QB and won't be drafting one.. Penix was not a top 10 QB by any measure except Atlanta's. This has nothing to do with what teams like SD GB etc did those situations are completely different.

      @davidwillis8623 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If we’re winning games and picking later in the draft, we wouldn’t need Penix lol. And aside from the draft, there’s trades and free agency. Bottom line is they’re not 100% sold on Kurt it’s simple lol.

      They are sold on Kirk's ability. They just don't want to be in the same predicament they were in with Matt Ryan. With Kirk being a 36 yr old QB coming off an achilles injury the Falcons are banking on getting the most out of him in the short term. Which is why they front loaded his contract with guaranteed money. If you expected Kirk to be the future when they signed him then you were fooling yourself. Penix is the future and the Falcons have set themselves and Penix up for success in the future. Too many people only care about the now. Raheem's job depends on long-term success.

    • @gsp3428
      @gsp3428 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dizzydacure8226 Draft a qb next year or the year after late in the first or second, not with a top 10 pick the year you get Kirk. I think of close 10 Qbs in college that Atlanta could draft in the future. Nobody expect Kirk to be ther 10 years but 3 to 4 yes. And wasting a top 10 pick on someone who you dont plan on playing for close to 3 years is a bad move.

    Unfortunately, the fact that Terry Clown Fotenot has no idea what they have done by drafting an injury prone prospect qb as opposed to an edge rusher or oline replacement for Gary says it all about the unprofessional behavior exhibited.The outright disrespect and lack of empathy towards the players is undurmountable childish and ridiculous. Fotenot 21w-30l and after the less than intelligent trust fund baby who was concerned about his image and not the players to a Conartist Morris who thrives on burning players credibility publically every chance he gets will not gain any trust or belief with any of the players. Yes this was the worst move any team could have or should have done and the team will now need years to recover from this huge disrespectful move. Players will not trust the front office for awhile after the treatment the team has recieved from the ignorance displayed.
