Florida cannot supply everything you find in your local grocery store. Many products you consume come from other states, Florida plays a role in feeding the nation but it is far from self sufficient. Florida is famously known for its citrus production, so lets say the Floridian government were to subsidise it, well now the government pays more and it will come out your pocket in some other way, (taxes, budget cuts, etc). I think its unrealistic to expect the government to subsidise food, I hope I gave a decent explanation why its not being done at the moment.

We had Florida Prepaid for my oldest and we had to pay more because it didnt cover enough for community college. And we had it since she was a baby. We didn't get any rebate check!!
