beatiful to watch. thats quite a lot of material to remove for a repair 😲. i work in a mold machine shop and we also do repair jobs when we are out of work and most parts just come with welds on the damaged parts
Being a layperson to these type of videos I'm learning a lot and enjoying them, especially seeing the before and after shots... but have no idea what an edge roller is or does in manufacturing.. any way to show where they are used or installed before or after? Just to put things into context for some of us less informed. Great videos, thanks!
Function in steel production: Slab moves first through a edge rolls / scale breaker, which is a two-high rolling mill with vertical rolls that loosens the furnace scale.

The anwser is hell yeah , just make sure you place the camera in a location where it won't bother you and let it rip . What would be the nominal tool shank for that toolpost ? 32*40 or even bigger ?
@@ChrisMaj it doesnt have to be long. What i wanted to say is, make sure it's not interfering with your work , as in not taking time from the job . or making you work more than you should , hope that makes sense .
It depends how worened they are. The diameter of the new ones is 24" (610mm) and the minimum is 20.5" (520mm). The ones in the video reached the minimum diameter.
If it is a repair, don't it need to get back to the original diameter, or you got it already repaired in that sense and just needed to turn it to the original diameter?
Jak się nie mylę to te rolki nazywa sie łamacze zgorzeliny. Używane są w stalowni do walcowania stali wychodzącej z pieca. Nowe rolki mają średnicę 610mm, najniższa średnica to 520mm. Te akurat już były przerabianie ostatni raz, później nadają się tylko na złom.
@@ChrisMaj not sure if it's 70° but old british motorcycle crankshafts have a real wide center on both ends. To machine them I have to put them in a steady rest and fix it to 60°, oftem times both ends have been worked over with a bfh anyway

Cast iron not my favorite. The flange diameter was too big for my lathe, so I had to use the extension .

I don't want to bore you with long videos. The tool shank is 1.25"(31.75mm)

These rolls are adjustable, but there is a minimum diameter you can machine them. After that they are scrap.

I made it. I don't know why, but all this rollers have 70° centers.
