I never realized how I took for granted the Doctrine and Covenants. Why did I not think to use it on my mission? The Book of Mormon converted me to Christ. The Doctrine and Covenants will convert me to the authenticity of the Church Jesus established through Joseph.
I am living with my 80 year old mother and we LOVED studying the BofM with you. My mom has been checking every day since Christmas day and sometimes several times a day to see if you had put up the D&C first lesson in the Come Follow Me. She kept saying to me, " Oh I hope he is going to do it" I kept reassuring her that you would. Well this morning you would have thought it was Christmas again. She came right into my room and said, "He's back and it's a 2 hour session on D&C 1!" She was so excited that she stopped what she was doing and I hear her in the other room listening. Thank you Nrother Halverson. We are like sponges and ready to study the words of the Lord in the D&C with you. 😁❤

Thank you for this lesson. I have a new, more deeply feeling for the Doctrine and Covenants. I am 82 years old, my wife is in last stages of Alzheimer's, what joy he have in our Savior and the blessings of His Temple. We joined this he Restored Church of Jesus Christ 50 years ago. I was a Baptist minister at the time and was looking for the Restoration and I found the truth and the Fullness of the Gospel. Even my father a former Baptist also told me that Mormons are not Christian. I said that is a lie put out by the devil. How do you know, have you read the Book of Mormon, no, then read it. After 4 months of my pestering him, he and my mother read the Book of Mormon to convince me of my folly. They came to me and asked me to baptize them after reading the Book of Mormon. They had heard the lie about the Mormons and perpetuated the lie in ignorance. I was guilty also until the Holy Spirit stunned me while preaching a sermon with the words "how do you know that is true" I did not and I searched to find out. When the missionaries began teaching me I knew it was true. My wife opposed me having anything to do with the Mormons. I told her to change the way she was praying, ask God if the Church is true. , she did and excitedly told me the next day that a light appeared in her room and a voice told her "your husband is seeking to serve God, follow him" she was immediately converted and asked me to baptize her. The 1st year 14 members of our families (by father and mother included) joined the Church. My father served as a Bishop and he and my mother served a full time mission to Bath New York. My wife served many callings including a Relief Society president and I in the Bishopric and many local and stake callings. I am currently the Ward organist. THIS IS THE RESTORED CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST. Life is short, eternity is forever. Which is most important? This is the time to prepare for Eternity,read the Book of Mormon again if you have before. I just read he scriptures again, during this pandemic and gained a renewed testimony of them. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I pray it helps you connect with heaven, and to connect your children to heaven as well. I know how hard that can be with little ones, but as Sister Packer used to say, "Full hands today, full heart tomorrow."
Thank you so much for this! I love your insights. It became relevant for me when you talked about the weak and simple being qualified. My son doesn't have a interest in Gods ways. I received motivation to keep testifying to him, to repent of my sins and know even if I don't feel up to the task God will qualify me. I heard Him today as I listened to this instruction.
My husband Mike and I are thrilled to be continuing with Come Follow Me studies together. We both love reading the standard works and are excited to be open to the personal understanding and revelations the Lord will shower upon us as individuals and as a people as we dive into the ocean of mercy contained in the Doctrine and Covenants. We both are so grateful for the education that has made you a sharp tool in the hand of the Lord. We are amazed at the depth and understanding that helps us grow and we are even grateful for things that are over our head in being able to fully grasp at present. Thank you so much for the comforting broadcasts that enable us to receive something beyond our four walls.
As for what I learned from this session I would have to say I found it very interesting they tie and explication given between true AND faithful ...that things are true but also because of our weakness they are faithful delivered to us in our weakness that by exercising our faith we may understand the true pure nature of God. I think that’s such an important understanding. I never really made that connection with the work of the Lord being true and faithful
You have really opened my eyes to the deep beauties of the Book of Mormon - and I don’t know how many times I have read it! I’ll be watching the D&C videos for certain. Thank you.

I've been pondering and looking up the structure of the word 'Hear -ken' in Scottish dialect to 'ken' is to know or understand something. So hearken can also mean hear and know. As we hear the word of the Lord we will come to know Him, and understand what He wants us to do. Thank you so much for your lessons, the spirit touches my heart when I listen, 'hearken'.

Hearken This weeks word. I missed you guys and am glad that this series is going to continue. Section one is a good place to start, it cannot hardly be beat for the fact that each person that reads it has a mechanism to discover the truth of each section, and that is to seek from the one whom gave us this section and indeed the whole of the doctrine & covenants. In fact its so easy to become derailed by simple things, I searched on "thestevescott D&C section 1 youtube" and no matter how I changed it the search engine kept going to things like " c-section medical operations". Frusterating as it was I continued fumbling around till I came upon how I found you guys last time and now here I am. Thank You for being there.

I LOVE that you are speaking about what it means to hearken! I was just watching the Christmas special from the makers for The Chosen. I love that show. There were some monologues about God's people up to the point of Jesus' birth and they speak about the 400 years of silence from God. I know that the director and many producers are not LDS and probably don't realize that God would have to withdraw and be silent again, this time for much longer. Thank you, Brother Halversen, for all you are doing to help us learn and hear the word of God!

I'm just beginning to study with you. I'm curious what happened with the Catholic family you taught. I was Catholic when I first met missionaries. I was fascinated with their story of a 14 year old kid seeing God but I took 6 months to get baptized. Did your Catholic investigators accept your inspired explanation of the apostasy? My conversion was not well received in Catholic New Orleans where I lived then. I went inactive for awhile 😪 but I'm back. Truth is truth. Thank you for your lessons. I think I will enjoy them.
Great question! Unfortunately, the husband never softened his heart enough to actually read the Book of Mormon for himself. His wife loved the gospel and wanted to join, but didn't want to break up her marriage. And then my mission ended before I could see any change there. I'm grateful for the chance to plant seeds and meet a beautiful family. Thankfully, the Gardener Himself is still watching over those seeds! Your faith journey is a beautiful one--the courage to accept the gospel despite the reaction of others. We all have our spiritual ups and downs, and I'm so grateful you found your way back. The Church is stronger and better with you in it!

Brother Halverson, I really enjoyed your Christmas podcast this year. One of the points that really stuck out with me. How closely intertwined the birth & the resurrection & atonement r. Also, once u explained what Attributes came from God & what ones came from Mary I was enlightened. Thanks for sharing Jared! I learned through this lesson that whenever the Lord has come, whether it be his earthly ministry in the New Testament or his appearance to the Nephites He sends messengers to prepare the way and invite the people to repent. I feel that the Lord is giving me a loving invitation to repent in section 1 and to do it now. While listening to this lesson the words from Let Zion in Her Beauty Rise came to mind, " That glorious rest will then commence Which prophets did foretell, When Saints will reign with Christ on earth, And in his presence dwell A thousand years, oh, glorious day! Dear Lord, prepare my heart To stand with thee on Zion’s mount And nevermore to part." I'm grateful for the Doctrine & Covenants that helps prepare my heart to be with my Savior again.

Aww yes, “sounds familiar” I call it the SCrEw tape letter. My husband digested it and became disaffected with the Church. It has broken my heart💔 but in the struggle and sorrow, i have come to know my Savior and my Faith has become unshaken!

Mother of 8! You are definitely doing the real "heavy lifting" in the Kingdom. I'm happy to provide some help with scripture study whenever you can squeeze it in. I pray it helps you connect with heaven, and to connect your children to heaven as well. I know how hard that can be with little ones, but as Sister Packer used to say, "Full hands today, full heart tomorrow."

Thank you so much for this! I love your insights. It became relevant for me when you talked about the weak and simple being qualified. My son doesn't have a interest in Gods ways. I received motivation to keep testifying to him, to repent of my sins and know even if I don't feel up to the task God will qualify me. I heard Him today as I listened to this instruction.
My husband Mike and I are thrilled to be continuing with Come Follow Me studies together. We both love reading the standard works and are excited to be open to the personal understanding and revelations the Lord will shower upon us as individuals and as a people as we dive into the ocean of mercy contained in the Doctrine and Covenants. We both are so grateful for the education that has made you a sharp tool in the hand of the Lord. We are amazed at the depth and understanding that helps us grow and we are even grateful for things that are over our head in being able to fully grasp at present. Thank you so much for the comforting broadcasts that enable us to receive something beyond our four walls.
As for what I learned from this session I would have to say I found it very interesting they tie and explication given between true AND faithful ...that things are true but also because of our weakness they are faithful delivered to us in our weakness that by exercising our faith we may understand the true pure nature of God. I think that’s such an important understanding. I never really made that connection with the work of the Lord being true and faithful
You have really opened my eyes to the deep beauties of the Book of Mormon - and I don’t know how many times I have read it! I’ll be watching the D&C videos for certain. Thank you.

I've been pondering and looking up the structure of the word 'Hear -ken' in Scottish dialect to 'ken' is to know or understand something. So hearken can also mean hear and know. As we hear the word of the Lord we will come to know Him, and understand what He wants us to do.

Hearken This weeks word. I missed you guys and am glad that this series is going to continue. Section one is a good place to start, it cannot hardly be beat for the fact that each person that reads it has a mechanism to discover the truth of each section, and that is to seek from the one whom gave us this section and indeed the whole of the doctrine & covenants. In fact its so easy to become derailed by simple things, I searched on "thestevescott D&C section 1 youtube" and no matter how I changed it the search engine kept going to things like " c-section medical operations".
Frusterating as it was I continued fumbling around till I came upon how I found you guys last time and now here I am. Thank You for being there.

I LOVE that you are speaking about what it means to hearken! I was just watching the Christmas special from the makers for The Chosen. I love that show. There were some monologues about God's people up to the point of Jesus' birth and they speak about the 400 years of silence from God. I know that the director and many producers are not LDS and probably don't realize that God would have to withdraw and be silent again, this time for much longer. Thank you, Brother Halversen, for all you are doing to help us learn and hear the word of God!

I'm just beginning to study with you. I'm curious what happened with the Catholic family you taught. I was Catholic when I first met missionaries. I was fascinated with their story of a 14 year old kid seeing God but I took 6 months to get baptized. Did your Catholic investigators accept your inspired explanation of the apostasy? My conversion was not well received in Catholic New Orleans where I lived then. I went inactive for awhile 😪 but I'm back. Truth is truth. Thank you for your lessons. I think I will enjoy them.
Great question! Unfortunately, the husband never softened his heart enough to actually read the Book of Mormon for himself. His wife loved the gospel and wanted to join, but didn't want to break up her marriage. And then my mission ended before I could see any change there. I'm grateful for the chance to plant seeds and meet a beautiful family. Thankfully, the Gardener Himself is still watching over those seeds!
Your faith journey is a beautiful one--the courage to accept the gospel despite the reaction of others. We all have our spiritual ups and downs, and I'm so grateful you found your way back. The Church is stronger and better with you in it!

Thanks for sharing Jared! I learned through this lesson that whenever the Lord has come, whether it be his earthly ministry in the New Testament or his appearance to the Nephites He sends messengers to prepare the way and invite the people to repent. I feel that the Lord is giving me a loving invitation to repent in section 1 and to do it now. While listening to this lesson the words from Let Zion in Her Beauty Rise came to mind, " That glorious rest will then commence Which prophets did foretell, When Saints will reign with Christ on earth, And in his presence dwell A thousand years, oh, glorious day! Dear Lord, prepare my heart To stand with thee on Zion’s mount And nevermore to part." I'm grateful for the Doctrine & Covenants that helps prepare my heart to be with my Savior again.
So excited for this new year D&C is my favorite book of scripture!
