Apart from the great techniques you generously share, one of the most fascinating things for me to watch is how you mix the colours to get the right shade and effect for the right place - a constant readjustment of a dab of this and a dab of that. I realize much of it is practice and experience, but the more I watch your videos the more I get a feel of which colours and how much result in which effect. All your videos help to reduce the often painful trial and error phase of learning to paint well. I myself almost gave up painting in the beginning because of the frustration of useless hours spent on ruined canvases, painting over and over the same area because I just didn't couldn't work out how to get it "right". Thank you!

Hi, Jason. Terrific demo! I wonder, would you paint the bird and background together so that the contours blended and the bird wouldn’t appear as a cut-out placed on top? Many thanks.

Hi Jason, thanks for your tutorials. I am a beginner and want to paint an owl . But I am not sure if I can use this example of feather painting basicly for an eagle owl. Maybe you have another demonstration of this? Thanks from the Netherlands

On this paint palette, I noticed you have two whites. When you introduced them, you only referred to them as white?

When you are layering color are you leaving some of the undercolor there to show through? Or are you blending them?

I just had a question. Is it hard to get use to using that stick to hold up your arm. Or is that something your were taught very early in your painting career.

Laura Mcclure Hi personally I can't paint without the mahl stick as it stabilizes the hand soooo much. I find students get used to it in their 1st session painting - I will be doing a video about it soon.

I could be wrong but I think one of the brushes that Jason was using for the finer detail ( small flat brush) was a brush from Rosemary & Co. A great brush company, I use them all the time. They are based in the UK and the brushes always arrive packed so well, they put so much care into their brushes for their clients.
