Thanks for the interviews, I was hoping for some post fight coverage of this card. Alistair is an interesting interview, I hope to hear him on The MMA Hour.
I'm so proud :) Our dutchies are doing great! Many top contenders already in kickboxing for K1, It's Showtime etc. Now with Overeem and co. slowly infeltrating the mma business. Awesome :) Both cool dudes.
lol that is why I love this guy he is just so Calm and Humble, been a fan of his since PRIDE, it is a little weird to see him as a heavyweight considering how skinny he was while he was in PRIDE but he is a BEAST NO DOUBT!
@stanburdman Fedor is a great fighter but he has never fought someone the caliber of Alistair Overeem. Overeem is a K-1 level striker with ADCC level grappling and 250+ pounds of solid muscle. He has knockout power in both hands and knees. And would have the advantage almost anywhere the fight takes place. Fedor will have his hands full with Overeem. People underestimate Overeem because of his LHW losses but he is a different fighter now. He's realizing his potential.
i agree i think overeem is one of the very best hw, only ppl who's gona test him is jds or cain maybe carwin and fedor thats it, thats the fights we wana c
man if the fight happens i hope so much alistair takes it, i rly want him to be the new biggest and best heavy weight of all time. (after fedor he jumps in ufc btw :3 )
@CheesyTater or fights fedor, big foot, werdum, or barnett in strickforce?? Surely the strikeforce heavyweight division is just as stacked as the ufc's at the moment. Especially with Mir and lesner looking like they don't have much more in the tank
@PrimeOne18 His striking is far from flawless, he doesn't really use head movement and just covers up. With MMA gloves shots will get through, he also doesn't really throw punches in bunches, and lunges a lil to much with his knees. With that said he has a fantastic skill set, i'd like to see him against some good fighters.
Fedor vs The Reem will be the most high level fight that's possible right now. I don't think there is any other fight out there that could be as good. They have to make it happen.
Nice to see Overeem doesnt disrespect Fedor , that should be a great fight . I Still think Fedor will pull it off in some way but Overeem has a bigger chance than anyone ( Including Brock whos standup is so so ) .
@phrek75 Right. But I'm just worried because Fedor had Rogers on his back, did a jumping punch, and Rogers eventually got up. After Overeem flipped Rogers and put him down, he was pretty much in the fetal position for the rest of the fight. In no way can anyone say Alistair's GnP is better than Fedor's. But that was a pretty nasty beatdown...
@stanburdman What I am arguing is that Overeem is a legit threat to Fedor not that he is the favorite. Overeem's kickboxing credentials are relevant to this discussion. He is the superior striker, hence K-1 level striking. Overeem won't be easy to take to the ground. He has very good takedown defense and incredible strength. As for his chin that is the one area I'd be concerned with for Overeem. Yes if Fedor lands a bomb or GNPs him it could be over. But Overeem can do the same to him.
@stanburdman What in the world are you talking about? I'm talking about K-1 Kickboxing where Overeem has wins over Badr Hari, Peter Aerts and Ewerton Teixeira not K-1 MMA. Again Overeem is a different fighter since he moved to HW. In most of his LHW losses he was winning until he gassed due to cutting so much weight. He doesn't have that problem anymore and besides, there's no shame in losing to guys like Chuck Liddell and Shogun.
@stanburdman Arvolski was outstriking Fedor until he went for that flying knee. Fedor took Schilt to the ground he didn't strike with him. Rogers is a brawler, few thought he could outstrike Fedor despite busting up his nose. Fedor has never fought anyone with the combination of size and skill of Overeem. If Overeem gets Fedor on his back he could be in trouble. Even Rogers did some damage with his GNP.
@TheNZNick i would love to see that fight... two of my favorite fighters. i would love to see fedor or overeem stomp on lesnars face but that would be for my own gratification. a fight between overeem and fedor would a great fight from a passionate mma fan perspective.
But to make something clear: I'm not saying Alistair Overeem is a bad fighter, he's awesome and even without drugs in another weight class he'll probably do great because mma is much more than muscle. But: Overeem - 11/2007 224lbs Overeem - 05/2010 253lbs While you're - already in mid 20's or later - already have gained so many pounds from just working out, bringing you closer to your natural max that's extremely hard to do with just legal stuff
@PizzaHero92 I didn't forget. I was just scared by how easily Overeem threw him down on his back and never let him up again. The GnP and control looked better than Fedor in his Pride days....
@CheesyTater dude guys like mir and lesnar aren't gonna test him, maybe carwin until it gets to round 2, the only fights for him in the ufc is jds or cain.
@StrangeDeimos I havent heard Fedor say that, if he has then maybe it was way back before Reem became such a beast. If Fedor said it recently then i would agree he is probably trying to hide something. Reem is definitely a beast.
The Champ is Back!!, Overeem Out-classed Brett Rogers, It will be very interesting how fedor would fight Overeem. No way Fedor would fight Overeem on the standup, he would try to put this fight on the floor like Rogers was supposed to do in this one. Very interesting fight.
I like Alistair, i really do but the fact is that he hasn't had a real challenge in MMA for years. We won't know how good he really is until he signs with UFC and fights guys like Carwin, Lesnar, Mir, and Velasquez
@StrangeDeimos Yeah true. The manager shouldn't say it and the fight should happen - i agree on both. Still - Managers and fighters certainly can't speak for each other and Fedor's integrity remains intact. I wonder if Fedor's management are afraid of what Reem might do to Fedor while Fedor himself isn't? Fighters often have much more faith in themselves than their management.
@vatossureno A high protein diet can increase the size of your jaw muscles. Overeem did not have to take steroids to get big. All he needed to do was eat right, take natural supplements and lift weights. People accusing him of steroids after he passed a drug test for his last MMA fight are just haters.
@keikuru1 Fedor certainly can't be counted out against anyone. He's the favorite against anyone he faces. I just think Overeem would give him a tough fight.
@stanburdman I'm honestly baffled by your K-1 comment. Are you not aware that Overeem competed in several K-1 fights last year and made it to the semi-finals of the K-1 World GP? I recommend that you actually watch the fights instead of relying on Wikipedia and Fightfinder so much. Records don't tell you the full story.
without random and often drug testing we will never know for sure. We all know how easy it is to get around set date drug tests. but I would say from haveing trained and been around a large range of athletes that overeem does take performance enhanceing drugs
Its been fun, and inspiring to see a man of Fedor's stature go and make a legacy in the heavyweight division, but it ends now. Alistair's striking is too crisp and hes too powerful to powerful to be beaten by Fedor
@miamimouse20 I think that is what K1 is trying to avoid though. theoretically all the top kick boxers are there for that one night and they all have the potential to get into the final- just like the world cup of any given sport. It must be harder to organise though - way more injuries and down time so a regular play timetable like what the bog sports all have would be really hard to set up. Then again - maybe it wouldn't and just no-one has ever tried....
Ariel prolly pissed his pants when allistair put his fist up after ariel touched his belt lol. Great interview. How did Ubereem learn to speak english so well
The way Overeem tossed Rogers over like a kid was scary. I'm starting to think time is working against Fedor. I think Fedor would find unique ways to extinguish some of the cream of the UFC HW div but Overeem is where experience meets hormone injected horse meat muscles. I fear for the legacy.
@MysticNinjaJay all the more reason why I want to see the fight happen, i think when fedor fights werdum it'll be a repeat of the nogueira fight, i.e taking him down and gnp and avoiding submissions. but you never know, he might pull something out of the bag. i read he was working on some secret technique or something. fedor's apparently working with kickboxers too... wonder if he'll use kicks? lol... bring on fedor-overeem. :)
Hmm, Fedor had some trouble with Brett Rogers in their fight, it took Overeem really nothing to beat him, and Overeem was probably facing a better and more prepared Brett Rogers in their fight. You never know, Overeem could end the rein of Fedor.
@machinegunner36 It could well be. i put Shane Reem and Fedor in the top 3 with Fedor slightly better than the other two, but until they fight each other (may never happen) we won't know. The only reason i put the Reem as maybe a bit over Carwin is becasue he has more experience against top level fighters, as the Lesnar fight showed - Carwin needs more top level experience. ahd the Reem or Fedor been in there instead i think they would have had a similar first round but KO'd Lesnar ...
@TheNZNick ... in the 2nd. Just because they have more exp at that level and would pace themselves better. I def agree about both the Fedor-Werdum and the Carwin-Lesnar fights though. Full respect to Werdum and Lesnar, both top class good fighters, but the better man didn't win in either of those fights.
@mr3ggroll If Overeem beats Fedor and Dana White can't sign Overeem I think he will try to discredit them both by saying that Fedor is overrated and Overeem lost to Shogun and Liddell. So either way Dana is going to try to spin shit. I only care about seeing this fight as it has the potential to be a classic. There wasn't nearly as much hype for Arvolski, Sylvia or Rogers as there is for Overeem. The MMA message boards are going nuts over The Demolition Man.
@masterthue Look at Overeem now man. You think Werdum would have a chance against him now? Even Shogun would struggle with this size. Outside of the UFC Overeem is the best man to put Fedor away right now. And I think he has a massive chance of doing so.
@ryukenshoryuken did you see brett vs fedor; brett was beating fedor like a rented mule until fedors superior striking showed up. ubereem just manhandled rogers and proved he is the man to beat. i like fedor but i do think he is outmatched.
Overeem, look at the Fedor site, the alleged sentence of Vadim Finkelstein(Fedor's manager) saying that you are steroid freak and all that, is a pure ridiculous RUMOR that Vadim had cleared up many times in his interviews. So neither Fedor nor his management wants to avoid you nor to insult you. Please check it out that is very important.
@PizzaHero92 Of course I've seen Fedor/Big Nog. I wouldn't call myself an MMA fan if I hadn't. No one is better than dropping bombs from inside someone's guard than Fedor....but to say that Alistair's GnP wasn't that good this past weekend?
@IProModzZ Yeah like Brett Rogers, who is as big as Brock, more experienced, wrestles worse but hits better. And then there's Werrdum who maybe the worlds #1 BJJ, and he was meant to fight Barnett who is still a beast but it was canceled due to Barnett failing a steroids test (yes - again). Actually outside of UFC Fedor is fighting pretty consistently the best guys out there. And btw Arlovski won his last 3 UFC fights before leaving and facing Fedor. Coward is not a word you should...
he passed the tests so i think ppl need to quit, and of course fedor's camp wont make the fight happen...they know overeem has the possibility to beat fedor. and i dont understand why if he loses that doesnt mean he sucks, it just means overeem was the better fighter. i hope the fight happens
@PrimeOne18 err... i wouldn't say his striking is near flawless. he lost to badr hari in 2009 in k1. yea he knocked out hari before but he did lose, so even if it was true that his striking is near perfect his defense or something was clearly lacking at the time, since k1 is almost pure striking.
@calbo555 i agree he's looking really good right now, but you said he has a strong jaw and well he's just like sort of well known for having a glass jaw :P
@mr3ggroll Kurt Angle can outwrestle Brock Lesnar (he did it in a real wrestling match during their WWE days), not surprising given that he is an Olympic gold medalist but I doubt he could beat Lesnar in an MMA match. Anyway Fedor is the real deal. But he's not a God. He can be beaten and I think Overeem is the man to do it,
@xBlasian86x ok they either say hes my favourite or they say "I think" thats there opinion. he might of been the best back then. but now theres more hw to compete and until he fights them i consider fedor shit. and i do watch other mma orginizations i just believe fedor can be considered the best p4p. maybe the best hw. but i still believe some ufc hws can defeat him

I love it when Overeem just shakes his head, not even saying a word when Ariel asks if he hurt him.
Alistair gives great interviews, very likeable guy, plus excellent mmartist, really well rounded!
i like how respectful alistair talks about fedor.
lol that is why I love this guy he is just so Calm and Humble, been a fan of his since PRIDE, it is a little weird to see him as a heavyweight considering how skinny he was while he was in PRIDE but he is a BEAST NO DOUBT!

ilove this overeem interview. he respects fedor like fedor respects him.
this guys a beast 6ft5,250 of just stright muscle
@CheesyTater or fights fedor, big foot, werdum, or barnett in strickforce?? Surely the strikeforce heavyweight division is just as stacked as the ufc's at the moment. Especially with Mir and lesner looking like they don't have much more in the tank

AO seems like a nice humbled guy with a sense of humor. i thought he was a snob for the longest time.
But to make something clear: I'm not saying Alistair Overeem is a bad fighter, he's awesome and even without drugs in another weight class he'll probably do great because mma is much more than muscle.

He didnt thrash talk.. respect.. i didnt expect that.. *Im new to this sport*
@StrangeDeimos I havent heard Fedor say that, if he has then maybe it was way back before Reem became such a beast. If Fedor said it recently then i would agree he is probably trying to hide something. Reem is definitely a beast.

he seems like such as cool and chill guy. I'm a huge lesnar and Fedor fan but i would love to see him destroy both of them
@StrangeDeimos Yeah true.
I think a lot of people won't or don't like Overeem because of his confidence...
It threatens their perception of reality....OoooOoooO
@HunterCG i agree. i dont know why people took that as a hater comment. i like overeem, he's just boring in interviews, that's all.
@vdentjr thanks fotr the tip man, experience guy must know what hes saying
@CroatianNSensationN
ya you're right, but he's also single digits body fat and very lean
if the fight happens damn that will be sick !!!!!!
@vatossureno A high protein diet can increase the size of your jaw muscles. Overeem did not have to take steroids to get big. All he needed to do was eat right, take natural supplements and lift weights. People accusing him of steroids after he passed a drug test for his last MMA fight are just haters.
@keikuru1 overeem has a chin , he can take a punch and is so fast for his size , great kicks .. will be a very good fight when it happens
Overeem is a TRUE fighter, look up his records, he fights ALOT!!!
@keikuru1 Fedor certainly can't be counted out against anyone. He's the favorite against anyone he faces. I just think Overeem would give him a tough fight.

@Wolffanator i know right... hes awesome just because he talks how he feels people hate him?
@PrimeOne18 that's not exactly true, he's been knocked out 6 times in his mma carreer...
i like Alistair, he's a good champion. Hope he gets the fight with Fedor.
Its been fun, and inspiring to see a man of Fedor's stature go and make a legacy in the heavyweight division, but it ends now. Alistair's striking is too crisp and hes too powerful to powerful to be beaten by Fedor

i like reem more and more every second
Ariel prolly pissed his pants when allistair put his fist up after ariel touched his belt lol. Great interview. How did Ubereem learn to speak english so well

actually.. yeah
He just stated that he wont fight Fedor! What a coward, he finally showed his true colors...
Hmm, Fedor had some trouble with Brett Rogers in their fight, it took Overeem really nothing to beat him, and Overeem was probably facing a better and more prepared Brett Rogers in their fight. You never know, Overeem could end the rein of Fedor.

after lastnight i will never say another bad thing about alistair overeem he completely dominated bret rogers and he gained a fan in me
@TheNZNick ... in the 2nd. Just because they have more exp at that level and would pace themselves better. I def agree about both the Fedor-Werdum and the Carwin-Lesnar fights though. Full respect to Werdum and Lesnar, both top class good fighters, but the better man didn't win in either of those fights.
I can't believe this guy only weighs in at 254. The guy looks WAYY bigger than any 265 heavyweight in the UFC
So what kind of legal nutrition and weight lifting regimen did Alistair do to change his entire facial structure and jawline...?
@mr3ggroll If Overeem beats Fedor and Dana White can't sign Overeem I think he will try to discredit them both by saying that Fedor is overrated and Overeem lost to Shogun and Liddell. So either way Dana is going to try to spin shit. I only care about seeing this fight as it has the potential to be a classic. There wasn't nearly as much hype for Arvolski, Sylvia or Rogers as there is for Overeem. The MMA message boards are going nuts over The Demolition Man.
I wish Fedor would drop M-1. Its obvious they are only concerned with themselves and not setting up great fights for Fedor.
I always believed Fedor ducked Overeem
dream fight reem vs lesnar
@masterthue
Look at Overeem now man. You think Werdum would have a chance against him now? Even Shogun would struggle with this size.
Outside of the UFC Overeem is the best man to put Fedor away right now. And I think he has a massive chance of doing so.
He made beating Brett Rogers look so easy! Damn!! I think that he could put a good beating on Fedor, and Brock what do you guys think?
Great guy I respect him and Fedor and Brett can change tyres hahahaha
@ryukenshoryuken did you see brett vs fedor; brett was beating fedor like a rented mule until fedors superior striking showed up. ubereem just manhandled rogers and proved he is the man to beat. i like fedor but i do think he is outmatched.

Please check it out that is very important.
Maybe Fedor should fight Shamrock, Abbot or Kimbo because he obivously avoids real competition
@PizzaHero92 Of course I've seen Fedor/Big Nog. I wouldn't call myself an MMA fan if I hadn't. No one is better than dropping bombs from inside someone's guard than Fedor....but to say that Alistair's GnP wasn't that good this past weekend?
Overeems the man.
@V3n0killa You'll be sorry when Fedor returns as a solid 265 Heavyweight and rips through all the HW's.
ALL MUSCLE!!! He's got what it takes to beat Fedor!
@ErsinYildiz are you really saying fedors standup is better than hari's? i sure as hell hope not.
@ryukenshoryuken Alistair say: "no touching"
he passed the tests so i think ppl need to quit, and of course fedor's camp wont make the fight happen...they know overeem has the possibility to beat fedor. and i dont understand why if he loses that doesnt mean he sucks, it just means overeem was the better fighter. i hope the fight happens
didn't see the fight going like that.. ubereem throws bret across the cage like it was nothing.
@region1111 Was that a compliment?
Alistair is my is favorite heavy weight in mma 2nd is Brock
Thumbs up for Fedor vs. Alistair
Overeem is correct. It's Fedor's manager who is ducking Overeem.
respect to Fedor
Dana white wants overeem over Fedor now.. He'll clean out the HW division upset for Brock..
He can be beaten and I think Overeem is the man to do it,
look at alistairs facial expression change when ariel touches his belt
he called out fedor i wanna watch, the fight better happen my boy fedor is going down sadly
@123dool Both of them are great fighters, but OVereem seems to be on the juice.
@xBlasian86x ok they either say hes my favourite or they say "I think" thats there opinion. he might of been the best back then. but now theres more hw to compete and until he fights them i consider fedor shit. and i do watch other mma orginizations i just believe fedor can be considered the best p4p. maybe the best hw. but i still believe some ufc hws can defeat him
really... wow. you really are a hero arent you? after fedor, your my hero
@keikuru1 watch his last fights he doesnt have a glass, fedor will put in place tho
@xBlasian86x very good comment!
@vdentjr omy god, finally you say something thats right. yeah im drunk. so what. even when im drunk ican say fedor is the best
