Entertainment can be that, without being problematic. One cannot claim "its entertainment with a social message" , while exploiting the victims of that social injustice.
Thoroughly disappointing to see Ranveer completely deflecting the question regarding the rape being used as a trigger point for the characters turn and then blaming the filmmaker. Comments like “let’s not take it too seriously” is the reason why these types of movies continue to be made. We cannot ignore the impact that Bollywood has on people, their actions and ultimately in our countries - even beliefs. Rajeev thoroughly on point for asking this question - next time don’t hesitate to ask as was reflected in this video. For Ranveer’s type of success, it is so Important to use your status to address these issues head on.
When did a Rohit Shetty film influence a society, people know it's for entertainment not to bring a social change, he has a take and tried to potray it through ranveer, but it doesn't mean you replicate in real life. Harsh criticism for a masala genre
Namita De Silva bollywood has a huge responsibility when it comes to delivering social message but every movie has a focal point and for Simbaa it was entertainment and it seems to have achieved its objective...The social messaging could be a missed opportunity (maybe!) But do we have to take life so seriously that even when we go for a masala movie (with clean intentions where rape is condemned) we have to nitpick it for not packaging the social messaging well enough 🤔
Namita De Silva I agree to some extent that constructive criticism is important for us to grow or evolve. But quite honestly, I feel in the world of social media it's more to give an opinion for the sake of it. We have enough content driven movies if you don't like the masala packed movie we have a choice of not watching it...but I honestly didn't feel where social packaging is concerned that this sort of movie had to go all guns blazing!( could have-maybe) but it's okay if it didn't at least it didn't have item songs (that are encouraging rape in the first place) So it's all about perspective but I feel we don't need to nitpick!

There is nothing distasteful about dealing with rape in the harshest way possible as some psuedo intellects/critics seem to suggest. This movie was very very clear about how heinous a crime rape is, how rampant it is in our country and the only way to deal with it is in the harshest way possible. There is nothing distasteful about that at all. The law of the land and the forces that protect us need to deal with this rampant heinous crime in the hardest way possible. India is almost complacent about this crime. It has destroyed lives and families and there needs to be a collective awakening of our conscience. Rohit Shetty has done just that, whether we like it or not. He has made men talk about the crime here, dealing with issues like the male ego, chauvinism, etc. This is likely to have a bigger impact amongst the masses than candle light vigils, ' looking at it from a woman's point of view', etc. Rohit Shetty has put out the message loud and clear about the heinousness of rape. And made men talk about it. There is nothing distasteful in this like Rajeev, Anupama and some so called critics seem to suggest.
@@maybeen9294 agree completely! Rohit shetty's hard hitting message resonates with the masses. That is the crux of the movie. The libtards can stew in their cuckoo land! ☺️
I don’t think Rajeev or Anu are saying how Rohit depicts the heinousness of rape or his message about killing rapists or whatever it may be. The issue they are pointing out is how this enlightenment comes after someone the protagonist cares about gets raped! This is the along the same lines where someone claims to respect women because women are their daughters, wives or mothers, not simply because they are women!! Rajeev also points out how most of the outrage is over the fact she got raped, rather than she got raped and KILLED, pointing rape to be linked to someone’s honour.
You are intellectually too shallow to understand the problem. Like how Karan Johar uses "cancer" as a tool to get sympathy for their leads. Similarly Rohit Shitty used Rape as a tool for the image make over of his corrupt hero. This is so distasteful and pathetic. It's kinda like in 1970's when hero used to impress heroine by saving her from kidnapping or rape by goons. That attempt to rape was also pathetic but here director has gone step ahead.
@@stifler4eva1 I disagree. Rohit has openly said he does not need to use a subject like rape for his films. He is by far the most successful mass entertainer in the industry today with a consistent track record. It's not about image makeover. The cop simbaa is a corrupt cop until an incident hits him hard and awakens his conscience. It has nothing to do about image makeover. I am from North India, the region where patriarchy is deep rooted and rapes are commonplace. In our country the attitude towards rape is almost complacent. My point of view is Rohit has used his hard hitting messaging and generates a conversation amongst the masses who understand the tone and language of the movie. The entire second half the men are forced to face issues like the male ego, chauvinism, entitlement. This resonates with the mass a lot more than candle light vigils, women's rights, etc. Rohit Shetty talks to the mass in their language and it is super effective. May not appear that way to a lot of people from an urban city with ' finer sensibilities' , but hey almost 80% of India is Bharat and I have travelled and interacted extensively with the general mass, in the heartland of Bharat, to know what resonates with them. This is the harsh truth! Living in cities our views are so limited to ' finer sensibilities' that we lose sight of the fact that the country we live in is very diverse and at most times very rigid and harsh.
