How to open a glove box with a broken catch. Suzuki Alto. 2013. Also Swift and SX4. Maruti. A Star.

I made a little tool to open the glove box in the event of the catch breaking like mine did. If you choose to do this yourself, as with all of my videos, you do so at your own risk. I can't take responsibility for any damage to either the car or yourself. I've been told it works on the Suzuki Swift and the 2011 SX4 too.

Awesome! Thanks for this. I made this tool and was able to open my glove box but rather than buy a new latch I took it apart. A tiny bit of plastic had snapped off so I heated up a thin metal rod and pushed it into the plastic main body of the unit to make a new pin, snipped it off the right length and reassembled the latch. Works a treat!

Wow, well done. The spring on mine had disintegrated and had damaged the inside so you were lucky. Mind you it was only about six quid if I remember correctly. Thank you for the great comment.

Interesting little tool, thanks. I don't use my glovebox often, think it's almost empty. Bad habit some people have is having it jammed full of stuff which puts pressure on the door mechanism

Yes it is easy once you have actually looked at it in detail, but it's not till you have a problem that you realise you're stumpt.
Also goes to show a regular fault in this area, as there are so many looking for an answer to the problem ...

@@blipblip100 . I just bought a new one as it was only about £6 or £7 at the time..... They can be very fiddly those little jobs, but very satisfying if you can repair it. Good luck.
