At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.
Plus, thanks to our resident mechanic, Jim, you’ll find out what commonly goes wrong with them and what might need to be fixed.
Most importantly, we want to make ReDriven a voice for the most in-the-know used car experts there are...you guys.. See, you’re the ones that actually buy, live with, love and sometimes unfortunately hate the cars we’ll be reviewing.
So we want to hear your thoughts. Hit us up in the comments, or on Instagram and Facebook.
We’d love nothing more than for you to give us as much feedback as possible, so we can make this channel the best it can be.

This review feels so good to me bc of his genuine ecstatic emotions being displayed for such a small cheap car. Never seen anyone else act like this
Absolute Chad vehicle
I googled 'Chad vehicle' and the results were not what I was expecting 🤣
You dry?
The Virgin Mustang vs the Chad Alto
Yes
@DumbAccordionTricks the virgin everything vs Chad kei cars
The little Red Bull slot in the center console is where the shifter goes on the automatic cars :)
The alto is used for uber in my country, Kenya. Its got great fuel economy
This is alto works, not alto van 😒
@@UZAIR_SWATI jibu za upusss
In Japan I see this every day and never have given a second thought, but after hearing what you said, I have a new appreciation for this car.😂
As an alto works owner for over a year now, so stoked you got to review and enjoy our little weapon.
I've got an RS Turbo a few months go, I thought I'd miss the power going from a Fiesta ST, but it's been a blast. AGS is a little weird, but loving it.
What kind of $$$ are you looking at for your insurance?
@@craiglouwen6350 hey dude, got nrma for 650 ish. I'm a 48yr in qld if that matters
We might have run a little long, but what did you think of the 'express' video? We're keen to do more. Anything you'd like to see?
Also, for reference, Adam is the same height as Ryan Reynolds. Just in case you're wondering.
Any express review of a Kei car needs to be exactly 660 seconds long! 😜
Great review! Would like to see a review on an N-One or Suzuki Spacia Gear if you can find one
Great stuff. Good things come in small packages!
You suggested it may not be the best for touring, but is it particularly harsh in this environment? Speaking as someone who's done the Melbourne-Sydney run in a four-speed KB Laser and found it fine.
This was a brilliant review and yes please, hopefully we start buying fit for purpose cars again instead of buying cars that are just humongous when we don't need them 😊😊😊. Just a gentle hint that the i20n would probably qualify as a used car now and I'd ADORE a one hour long epic review when you get a sec😂😂😂
I've owned my one for about 11 months now, overall this is a really accurate review.
Only things to correct are that the OEM shocks are KYB, not Koni.
And servicing intervals are not 10,000km for the turbo models, the OEM manual says that for turbo models the service interval is an oil change every 5000km, and oil PLUS filter every 10,000km.
I'm loving mine, it's done everything I need it to.
And it can do highway fine, I drove mine from Melbourne to QLD, and it managed fine.
Yeah, it revved at 4500rpm at 110kph, and the suspension was pretty rough on potholes (granted, mine is lowered and has stiffer shocks than oem) but it did the trip fine.
I took one for a test drive yesterday and only drove up to 60kph and it was fine. How do you find it getting up to highway speeds? Also at highway speeds, how does it go up hills?
@user-hb3ib5ms8m getting up to highway speeds was fine, honestly not any worse than something like an older corolla.
Hills were fine too, the turbo really helps with torque
The downsides on the highway are that its loud.
110kph is about 4500rpm, and you can hear it.
Also being so light you do feel them shift around in the wind from trucks etc.
It can do highways fine, but i wouldn't want one if most of my driving was on highways
Appreciate your reply mate as I nearly pulled the trigger on it yesterday too. I do highway driving everyday, and that would annoy the crap out of me with the noise.
I used to own a Diahatsu G11R turbo and it was by far the most fun car I've ever owned. By far the least powerful, but the lightest (picked the block up single-handedly many times) and the way it tripodded when pushing hard through canyon/gorge roads was beyond amazing. I used to embarrass a lot of more "impressive" built cars
Putting Ricaros in an Alto just made my day
10 seconds in and I'm already in love.... with the car
I've wanted one of these for years, there isn't much English language content on them. Great to see a review from my favourite channel.
Honda S660 next please.
Suzuki makes good cars, very spacious inside and great motors. I'm taller than you and Ryan Reynolds and I own a 2023 Suzuki swift sport and no complaints regarding room.
Was not expecting a review for today's video but having the express review was a refreshing change and would be a good palate cleanse in between top 5 series lists that you guys do.
Honestly this looks like a car I'd have looked at buying when i was first going for my licence for all the reasons you just listed Adam.
Keep up the good work guys and brilliantly done video today 👍.
Thanks heaps mate! Glad you liked it!
Seems to me that Suzuki are kings of making small cars. I have a 2014 Jimny, it is so much fun the drive and no issues at all. Wonderful fun little cars. I think both type of videos are great, to be truthful the best part of the videos is the banter and chat. Always puts a smile of my face !
They have their focus with small cars afterall. Suzuki can make good medium and large cars if they want to (and have the money to, which alot of the times they dont. The times they do though, things like the Grand Vitara and XL7 comes to life which are pretty nice). Ignis, Swift, Jimny, Alto, Carry are the great examples of their focus on making good affordable small cars with not alot of power but in exchange alot of fun/capability.
I'd advocate for the sophisticated car size measurement system from this point on being Adam trying to hug the car
Awesome little zipper. I used to have a Daihatsu Sirion GTVi and by God that little ankle biter was a rip-snorter! Chuck on a filter and an exhaust and not only does it perform better (I kept up with a mate's Civic VTi-R), but given that it revved out to 7500rpm, it sounds like an angry VTEC!!
I owned the gtvi also, but the one above which never released in ozz but i owned in nz was the YRV Turbo R which was the gtvi motor with a factory bolt on turbo and 4wd. I think was the most powerful factory 1.3L 4pot in its day. Wicked little car but only available in auto.
Awesome review, love the energy and honesty. Funky and unique little car, love it.
An older Alto Works has been at the top of the list for my next weekender for a long time.
This would absolutely be my top pick if I lived more inner city, but for my current situation, i’ll stick with the safety & practicality of my slightly larger hatch.
My first car back in the 90s was a base model that my parents got me. I had the best time ever in that car. Me and my friends loaded up in that thing to go all over, sometimes someone was laying across three in the back seat. So much good memories in the Alto. The Works back then was a mean looking thing with a big hood scoop and I could never afford it then, I didn't even ask the price. If I could ever get a hold of one of these, I'd love to own a Works.
once again a brilliant review....keep going the way you are ....your reviews are always informative but also very honest and entertaining
We need more of these cars on our roads. Had a number of Suzuki motorcycles and never had a problem with the engine.
Now on my list … cheers
What a great little car a couple of years Suzuki sold the Alto in Australia popular small car and l see them still driving around they were cheap and coming from Suzuki they should be good
Loved this review. Go for it. And what a fab car. Best in a while.
Ive had an Ignis a while now. It is great, reliable too and great on fuel about 5L/100K
Adam, Great Express Vid.
Watched it three times now. Just to be sure.
I am 43 and owned more cars then I can remember. Everything from a 67 MK1 CooperS my first car. V8 Commodores and 1 Fairlane G220, A Nissan Cube with a Tiida Transplant, NA MX5, Mk6 XR4, Suzuki Swift Sport zC31 A couple of Mk7 ST, a Mk8 ST, Abarth 595 Scorpiono and a GR Yaris. This was the video that actually encouraged me to buy my first Kei Car and the kids love it to pieces and they only seen photos. Can't wait to on a bit cooler night actually give it a proper rip up Mt Stuart and the ol hillclimb up there.. A 2016 Alto Works outta Sydney. Should have it up here in Townsville in a couple of weeks. There's nothing like it up here save for a couple of older Mira etc. Was Tossing up between this and a Nismo RS Juke Manual. But they are too common there's a couple in town already 😂.
Your one of the best motor journalists out there mate love watching you and Jim. Shorter stuff works well in between bigger vids. 👍🏼👍🏼
Ah mate thanks so so much!!! - AK
Suzuki was my brand of choice for biking,Katanas etc,and THEY do know how to make small engines. Also of course Hybusa style. Definitely a fun car, bugger what anyone else thinks of you driving this. Driving for FUN has died these days,(legal fun that is). This format is excellent.Keep it up.
Great format!
Love the car, love the review format.
Express review is great! Still conveys good amount of information and ideal as a primer when looking at particular car. Im most interested in "how it drives" section, so if anything would be the focus that and reliability. Just my 2c
Such a cool car, makes you really question why cars are getting so fat these days.
I'm 6ft9 and LOVE small cars. Owned a Daewoo matiz, Smart fourtwo, Toyota Echo and a Nissan Micra and fit in all of them no probs.... would love this in my driveway
I really appreciate these colabs with Go Garage
Please feature the NBox and NOne next
NBox camper conversion looks AWESOME.
What a great little car. Love it. It looks better than a Smart, I would get one of these also for my granddaughter, she would have a ball. Love the twin pipes out the back and the suspension mods are smart. Love the video format, but not too many short ones please.
This express review feels quicker than it is. Just always looking forward to your videos, mates!
Thanks heaps mate! Glad you enjoyed it
Love this quick review format. If you’re looking for small zippy cars I have a low km 2013 Polo GTI in great nick you’re welcome to use!
I'm so happy to see this car, I've been seeing some in used dealers and it rly intrigued me. If I wasn't going for a Jolion I would consider this
@@UncleJoeMedia the Turbo RS only came in automatic, so it'll be a bit less fun than a Works manual.
Such a cool funky little car, with a lot of personality.
If I didn't own the current generation Swift Sport (can you review one please 😉), I'd probably consider one of these.
Last but, not least.. continue doing these express style reviews. Enjoyed it a lot (especially if your time poor), cheers. 👍🏼
That's already a Chad car enjoy what you have
@@Silverwarhawk hah, yeah it's pretty nice.. but thank you for your kind comment. Hope you're having a nice day. 🙂
I like the express video. It’s a great way to mix up your reviews, keeping the longer ones for a detailed breakdown when needed. Also this car is screaming out for a heart transplant- put a Hayabusa engine in it for track days!!
Suzuki make great cars full stop. I've owned 2 Vitaras & 2 Grand Vitaras (not the ones they're making now) & I absolutely loved them. I can't understand why people won't give Suzukis a go. I've driven Jimny/Sierras, Swifts, Kizashi's, SX4's, & Altos & the only one I didn't like was the SX4 which I found the suspension a bit on the bouncy side. Altos to me are like driving an uprated go-kart. They are fun to drive & bring a huge smile on your face. This Alto if I was living in the city, I'd have in a heartbeat. Suzukis to those who know them are very reliable vehicles & very durable.
If you have kids of driving age & you want them in a good, reliable, safe cheap to run vehicle, look at Suzuki. I'm a Holden man through & through but these Suzukis hold a good spot in my heart.
Excellent review which shows what I've been saying about Suzukis all these years.
Suzuki are definitely some of the most reliable cars on the road
Complete full package. Its a track version of the alto , even the chassis of this car is rigid. Brakes are huge , and it have so many aftermarket parts that can take it to 145 hp easily with having 680 kg weight of it only. Steering geometry is really change than normal alto and its gearbox is really a short shifter
Would defo take this over our locally delivered one. It’s awesome nuggety goodness!
I have the suzuki Ignis. Same price. Owned 2 diahatsu Charades. Ignis is fantastic just like this vehicle. So well built. Doors solid clunk. Spacious. Over sixty miles per gallon all the time regardless of driving conditions speed etc. Only gripe is road noise. Also research how to drive a CVT g/box it is an art an once you learn it it is super smooth. I thoroughly recommend suzuki as a vehicle but you take your chances with dealers.
Good review and great little car with full of personality. Suzuki really know how to build interesting little cars.
Suzuki please bring this here!
My first Kei car was a 2001 Daihatsu Mira with a 1000cc turbo that had been notched up to produce about 120hp. Not much bigger or heavier than this car, so extra zippy. I still look back on it as one of my all time favorite cars to drive and regret not shipping it when I moved back from Asia.
Perfect for Marty from Mighty Car Mods
Express Review format is good. 👍
this format good
Between 1992 and 1998 I owned two Swift GTi's, I can see by your enthusiasm that the Alto Works shares much of the same DNA as it is exactly what the GTi felt like to drive. Although my current toy is a NB MX-5, I would love one of these (your allowed more than one mid-life crisis aren't you?). Keep up the good work.
My best mate is a Swift GTi addict and yep, it feels like the perfect modern version of that epic little nugget.
And yes, have as many mid-life crisis cars as you'd like! - AK
Awesome little car, I imported a 21 Daihatsu Copen GR Sport which over in Japan sits up top with the Alto Works and the Honda S660
It's been an awesome car to drive and live with.
Everyone should at least once experience the Kei sport car life 😂
Maaan this Alto looks amazing, I generally love little kei cars a lot, and myself drive a 2008 Suzuki Kei with N/A engine and AT, not a very fast car, but perfect for city, friends on bigger saloons envy the fuel usage as well, the car is really small so parking is rarely an issue, and because of how close everything is to you it's very easy to know for sure the size of the car and that helps to do a lot of stuff quickly without hesitation when it's needed. But I do want to try a bit sportier manual kei car in the future, and that Alto Works seems perfect to me)
Oh heck yeah I’d buy one!
I use to Live is Sri Lanka - and I had one of the Suzuki WagonR which is smiler to this but more like a MPV ( Not an MPV) Trust me when I say this - they are awesome little cars - and very cheap to maintain and - they are so fun... My own car had over 250,000 KM on the clock when I sold it...
That's just a cool car, full stop. I want one.
Funny the Mini Cooper is mentioned. the "K" class laws in Japan are modelled off the original Mini's and Fiat 500's, wheel base, seating capacity, engine size (back in the 60's). I own this model in Japan (in the discontinued red colour). The road taxes and insurance are crazy low but the fun factor is crazy high (especially when you throw some mods that bring the engine power over 100hp and suspension that makes it drive like a go-kart), unfortunately every two years I need to put everything back to stock so I can keep it road legal, but hey, it makes for a fun weekend and thanks to companies like HKS and Trust/Greddy its easy to comply with the laws here but still have a badass JDM. If I return to Aus, the little red rocket is coming with me.
What an awesome little car - if I needed something in this genre would definitely consider! This short format is good for 'quirky' cars and it would be great to see some more in the mix. Also, AK, absolutely love your exuberance and enthusiasm when something like this makes you happy. Keep up the wonderful work...
"TBTL" Ratings.. Too true 😀
I have the 2018 Turbo Rs Suzuki Alto and it's fun to drive... very good on gas... nice review
The new format is a winner - but the deeper dives are great too... one question I do have however, is AK the same height as any famous Canadian actors and/or Welsh football club part owners?
I've always been a fan of the 90s works, and actually started seeing these pop up from importers and caught my eye.
Would still prefer a 90s one though
Suzuki Mighty Boy was a great little car to fling around.
This format and the car were awesome.
But Adam, you need to buy one. It'll make your coffees look HUGE.
Review format is great. Please do one on Honda Nbox
It's Noice, It's Different, It's Unusual
Kel traded in the Matiz for this.
Oo thought this was 8 months ago and was like how did i not see this, but it was 8 minutes ago! love the alto.
This is damn cool but then I’ve always loved Kei cars period. The interior space thing is very relatable indeed - my mum just got a 2019 Ignis after looking at the boring usual suspects of Rio, Corsa, C3, Ibiza, Polo… yadda yadda. I saw the Ignis and she immediately loved it. She was toying with a small SUV but only for good access for her ill mum. The interior space of the Ignis is nothing short of amazing - I’m 6’4 and daily drive a Volvo V70 and the Ignis feels roomier! I have head room to spare front and back and easily find a comfy driving position. Suzuki really are masters at packaging and yes while they are cheap and cheerful compared to other competitors - it’s actually much nicer car to live with in the real world and is great where it really matters. Great review and hats off to Suzuki for mastering the fun and cool small car thing!
Great video, mates! How tall are you again, AK?😂
This car looks nice and cute! How fast was the 0-60kph and 60-100kph?
Love a kei! Base model of the Alto sells for really cheap in Japan!
Yep! Like $7 grand.😳
Kei cars, especially sportier ones like this Alto Works, the Daihatsu Copen, Honda S660 (R.I.P.), Honda N-One RS, etc proves that you really don't need big numbers just to have fun driving or just doing everyday commuting.
Like the Suzuki add said "Collect the set" its a modern day version of my ignis sport.
Great review as always....are these front wheel drive or all wheel drive?
They are sold in both
Great little review. Looks like a great little car. I think I missed the bit when you said you were the same size as someone?
My dream car for a while now
The wonky spot below the cellphone holder is where the Automatic Gear Shift would be at. Coming from one future Works owner.
Awesome review. Exciting car, but I'd have to stick with a Kia Picanto GT for warranty, service and parts availability.
I don't place value in owning something "that no-one else has". I would enjoy the thrusty turbo of the Picanto GT.
I think a Suzuki Swift turbo (1.4L) is a step too far. I currently drive a 1.5L ND Mazda MX-5 which makes every trip seem special!
I previously hammered around in a 1993 Suzuki Swift GTi and golly gosh it was FUN (and practical).
If you play a drinking game everytime you hear "Ryan Reynolds" in this video, you'll get alcohol poisoning.
Love this car of mine❤
I have the the 2012 still holding up in good condition.
Thi Suzuki Alto reminds me the Subaru VIVIO RX-R, I had the pleasure to drove one, what a great car. Would be lovely to have one to be reviewed by you guys.
We had an older Suzuki 800 same thing roomy inside and more economical than most decent size motorcycles I’ve owned….
Sick car sick review! If you do ride motorcycles I’d love to watch a RE-riden
Love the review. Please do one on its brother Suzuki Stingray and the Hustler. Thank you. ( ken Kenya).
Definitely a cute car & would impress the girls. The big bonus is that if you ever got a flat battery & you had the manual, a push start would be super easy.. 😊
Not if it's injected.
Depending on how flat your 🔋 is.
Pushed a Camry for roughly a kilometre before I remembered it was injected.
Left the lights on when I drove to work in the morning.
Old enough for my early cars to have drums, cross-ply tyres and a carb.
You mentioned the manual as a go-to but what felt like your major concern with the tiptronic autos (which are way more available).
Is that more related to driving experience and gearing ratios or was there anything mechanical as a concern?
Great review, liked the express format also....only one question....is Adam really the same height as Ryan Reynolds? 🧐
I wish I was in Australia. I would have let you drive both my cars which are rare but I love them as daily drivers. Lexus CT200h and a Honda CR-Z. Hopefully youll get to do a review on these cars at some time.
Which to buy, Toyota Probox or Suzuki Alto? Both cost the same more or less
Man I want one, would love to see a review on the Honda N One
Im 10 seconds into the vid, and i already want one.
MY GOD YES I want this car
I had no idea there was a souped up version of this, I see these in the caribbean although not as popular as the vitara etc. May very well look into one, I work from home and my wife has a full size car, this could be good to go grocery shopping/gym runs.
Great job guys I love your videos will you be doing a review on the T32 Nissan X-Trail series 3 in the near future?
Thanks mate. Yep, very high on the to do list. - AK
How can I get insurance of this vehicle, I have searched so many insurance website it didn’t have this kind of Alto
Was this awd or fwd version? The awd sticks to corners too well
Nice review. These cars are used as cabs in Kenya.
I want one so bad now
Very interesting car. Entertaining as usual. Are you the same height as Ryan Reynolds?
