You lucky dude that it runs with the condition of the carb and just with the Pb spray you got it running,I just bought a 2nd hand carb for my xl 250 which I bought 3 months ago with the wrong carb fitted.I stripped and cleaned the replacement carb which had jets and bleed holes blocked now it runs great, really enjoyed your videos ,more on the xl progress please 👌👍
You're not joking, I got lucky! Especially considering it has run maybe 3 times in the last 3 years, been sitting outside for part of it and probably had ethanol 15% gas in it. Maybe I was smart and put Stabil in it years ago or at least ethanol-free gas but I doubt it.
You need to clean out carburetor. Remove it, it only takes 5 minutes. Clean bowl and jets, replace bowl gasket (K&L 18-2681 ) and accelerator pump diaphragm (rebuild kit 83mm from Taiwan) Lubricate internal throttle linkage, also intake manifold gets leaks, seal it with silicone sealer, no new one is available..
