The moment you mentioned wanting bluetooth... Doesn't bluetooth transmission significantly reduce audio quality? Also, all the connection issues etc. There's a point to analog.
I meant wanting the headphones to have both analog and Bluetooth. Analog for when you're stationary or want the highest audio quality possible and then Bluetooth for when you're on the go or don't feel like having a huge wire swinging around.
Having bluetooth would make it more expensive and most bluetooth headphones never have an audio jack. Well, for the M40 and 50x you can at least change the cables and buy a short one very easily. Thanks for the review.
Henri V well a year later a good majority of over ear headphones have Bluetooth and auxiliary cord adaptation so I guess they looked at what some wanted
I have a pair, the are superb. I use them most often for monitoring my roland e-kit, because they can handle full range. I have $699 headphones that only sound a bit more spacious, SLIGHT refinement. The A-T are awesome.

not really great, they are good. But if you play fps game such as csgo and you need to locate footsteps, they arent the best. But for music they are godly good

Thanks for the video! A friend recommended the m40x to me and I'm considering getting them mainly for at home music and movies. What are your thoughts on the isolation performance when it comes to using them in an environment like a long haul flight?
Genevieve Schröder Passive noise cancellation isn't going to work well on flights, so I'd recommend looking into active noise cancellation headphones like the Bose Quiet Comfort. Yet for home and normal evironments, I'd prefer normal headphones. Active noise cancelling works by recording the outside and playing back opposite phase sound, which can feel quite weird, like your ears are locked.

Henri V Thanks Henri, appreciate the recommendation. I don't feel it's worth it to go for noise cancellation headphones when I'm going to need that feature less than 10% of the time, especially when most of them are way out of my budget. I'll make do with passive isolation!
Genevieve Schröder Yeah, definitely. Just don't expect quiet flights ;) I'll probably be getting the M40X anyways, or something else at the price range for portable closed-back use. Have the Sennheiser HD 600 at home.
Not sure if I should buy these or the Senheiser hd 559. Both similar price and sound. They say the 559 is more confortable but the m40x are prettier for me
TigasFMS 559 have very good soundstage and more bassy but not much clarity as these. The m40x have very good sound all around, near flat and close back. Yes comfort goes to the 559. M40x is uncomfortable after 1 hour of use. You need to change pads. Id say 559 if you want it for gaming, only home use (open backs), comfort. M40x for a more crisp and detail sound but less superior in gaming.
I just got mine, they feel so fragile! With that clicking sound when u fold them, i cringe a little every time . Otherwise best sounding headphones i've ever owned. Tech core, how do you feel about sturdiness?
durability is awful. look it up, they will break due to poor design. I have them and they did break so i had to do some diy repairs. Sucks. Not acceptable for a $100 headphones.
Sharing my experience, mine are quite old, the ear pads are all worn out and the plastic parts that connect the drivers to the headband is breaking in both sides :/ They still sound fine though, the bass is a bit lacking, but there is no distortion that I can detect in any part of the spectrum...
Ya, the plastic parts that connect the cups to the headband are the most common thing I hear about breaking. I wouldn't say the bass is lacking but it's definitely got more of a flat sound compared to other headphones which is great in some cases.
