Thich Nhat Hanh has been so deeply involved in my life for 22 years that I just get tears flowing like a river on my cheeks every time I hear about him.He has been my beloved teacher through his wonderful books. Thank you for beautiful words Jon Kabat-Zinn.
thank you, sister. i have no sangha and i practice alone. i told my mother that my teacher died and she didn't understand and I told her it was Thay and she gave me a funny look. He was my teacher too, though I didn't agree with all his beliefs and teachings ( i think this is healthy for any student) I listened to him and he taught me far more than what I disagreed with in comparison. Same with Kabat-zinn, Solomon and Jesus.
I'm in Canada grappling with how to understand this so called freedom convoy of truckers white supremists, so this reminder is timely for me. Be the peace.
@bob gibby I came to this site to hear a lovely tribute to a beautiful man. I came here to get away from the presumption, the antagonism, and finger pointing - and here you are !
Thank you so much for your sharing about our Dear THAY. Thank you for all your contributions for mindfulness in hospitals. I'm psychologist for mental diseases in France and your work inspire me a lot. You are also a continuation of THAY🙏
No, Jon Kabat-Zinn is definitely not an authentic continuation of Thay. and his presentation of mindfulness does not come with the blessings of a lineage . Although he learned mindfulness from Buddhism, as a teacher and scholar he tried as much as possible to deny the true Ethical roots of mindfulness in the Eightfold Buddhist Path. And encouraged people to have a distorted idea of mindfulness, as if there is no right or wrong thinking, speaking, doings, concentration and so forth. I am suspicious to see this type of "opportunistic tribute' to Thay at this moment.

Yes, "Be Peace", such a deep realization to be Peace and actualize Peace in your actions, that is what Thay has imbued in his Being. Yes, many tears about the bombs dropped in Viet Nam for ideology and power control that forgot about the preciousness of human life. What delusions and folly! Thay's Presence is still here pointing to the Truth that the Power of Love can wake us up to the preciousness of all sentient beings, to the beautiful planet, and to the profound mystery that we are! Thank you for your tribute. I am moved by your heart and deep understanding of Thay's contribution. Blessings!
Beautiful tribute to Thầy Thích Nhất Hạnh. 👏🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and spreading love and humanity during this difficult time. 🙏🙏🙏😍
Jon Kabat-Zinn: Thank you for the wonderful tribute to Thich Nhat Hanh. Jim Forest is someone worth knowing. He worked with Dorothy Day and was an editor of "The Catholic Worker." He was connected with Thomas Merton and was the one to whom Merton wrote his "Letter to a Young Activist." He also accompanied Thich Nhat Han on his early tours of the US. Mr. Forest has written biographies of Thomas Merton, Dorothy Day, and Daniel Berrigan. One of my favorite books of his is "Loving Our Enemies." His latest book is "Eyes of Compassion: Learning from Thich Nhat Hanh: Living with Thich Nhat Hanh."
If Thay hadn't been exiled from Vietnam, he might have never brought mindfulness to Europe - so something that was so painful and seemed unjust at that time, turned out to be a blessing from a perspective that can't have been seen then in the past. It's mind-boggling realizing that, and so humbling... Changes your perspective if you let it teach you a lesson. Just accept and honour your painful experience because it is probably necessary for something you can't foresee now to be born.
Thua Kinh Thay, Thank you for your continuation of your eternal presence... " A Cloud Never Dies" TNH🙏🙏🙏❤ Jon Kabat-Zinn, Thank you so much for your heartfelt tribute to Thay..🙏🙏🙏❤
My awakening began a little over 3 years ago now. My introduction to mindfulness and Buddhism was from Thay thru Plum Village. Within a couple months I purchased 5 of his books. Thay is in everything true in nature. Part of everything, as we all our at our true source. Thay help me understand to see beyond the illusions, the labels, and the constructs.
Its strange because I was so sad of the passing of this enlightened being. But it truly motivated me to begin the practice of meditation. He always said ,'' Out of the ashes a Phoenix can rise''. Just oozed grace this man. I see all of these theists arguing that my GOD is right and yours is wrong. Think it would have been impossible to start any kind of argument with this Master.
Thank you for this heartfelt tribute to Thay . Reminding us that we are left and his teachings will greatly help us going forward. A truly honorable tribute . Thank you 🙏.
I really need to hear this today as I often find myself moving between anger & despair as I watch what is going on in the world during this pandemic and the amount of aggression and hatred being expressed in the political polarization taking place in many countries including the U.S. and Canada where I live. thank you for this Jon and thanks for being the wise teacher that you are. I feel privileged that I was able to attend a 7 day retreat and training on mindfulness taught by you at the Omega Institute in New York State over 20 years ago.
Thank you for this story about Thay, it gives an even greater insight into his extraordinary life and the power of his practice. Watching the quiet but clear grief of his monastics in Plum Village during his memorial and funeral services I was reminded that being Zen and mindful is not not feeling but connecting with that feeling and bringing it into the breath and also the bell. It was a very special privilege to witness the grief, and the gentleness of the love and compassion.
Thank you, sir. I needed this today. I've been responding at work in a way I'm not proud of and excusing myself based on other's actions. I'll be more mindful and have faith that the right outcome will occur. Mundane, but I think Thay would want me to be happy. Thanks again.
Thank you for the beautiful tribute to such a kind, loving, thoughtful, gentle leader. Also thank you for taking all your learning and bringing the mindfulness movement to the forefront. Be Peace. So simple and fully challenging.

Zinn got me onto the path of meditation at age 9. Since then I’ve found so much depth beyond plain mindfulness - the ancient vedas, the Upanishads in particular, patanjali’s sutras…… so so much more beneath the icing layer….

Dr. Kabat-Zinn: Thank you, for this tribute to our beloved teacher. Thay and you have introduced me to mindfulness meditation. Thank you both for that gift. Bless your souls. 💞🙏
Due to he's outstanding skills in deep meditation for 80 years Thai could see the real true of the reality, wich is pure compassion, he was able to see what's beyond the life......wich he said many times " there is no birth, there is no death, these are just doors". He was ahead of his time, I guess that if he had born in Judea 2000 years ago he would have considered by the crowd the son of God.
One of the wisest videos I have listened to in far too long. How we continue to perpetuate harm to one another and the children, animals and nature of this planet is beyond my comprehension and that we don’t have enough global leaders to want to create the change we are so desperately in need of. Thank you for these beautiful words. 💕

Thank you Jon Kabat-Zinn for this gentle tribute to Thich Nhat Hanh. In Glasgow in 2007 at the Homeopathic Hospital I attended eight sessions to learn Mindfulness and meditation according to your teaching. I remember the raisin lesson very well. I was very ill with CFS at the time and I am very happy to tell you that I recovered quite well and lead a fairly normal life, all the while practicing what I learned there. Later I joined a group in Israel meditating together, and our teacher often read from Thich Nhat Hanh's writings, which are so inspiring yet down to earth. It's not esoteric but very accessible and humane. Thank you again for celebrating his passing in this way. And thank you for your very important contribution to pain and mental health treatment using Mindfulness.
Thank you for that amazing tribute - it brings me joy and peace as I think about Thay and all that I have learned from him. I Love thinking that as we are all interconnected that I carry Thay with me in all I am and do. You bring to me so many teachings by your words and breathing into this moment you shared lifts me and fills me. Again Thank you and Peace to us all.

Our heartfelt towards Zen Master TNH is normal however, his Teaching left us a treasure of spiritual practice for those who accept the truth. The pandemic and war between right and wrong still are a big question to all of us without proper answer. However, i strongly believe in a law of cause and effect always remains not in physical but in spiritual bodies as well. The reality in what we have seen every day is the outcome of cause and effect, it's hard to explain to non-believer especially who don't practice a daily meditation. I hope someday all of us will get to the level which Master TNH always has a compassionate desire for us. His spiritual being is still here on earth, and it will transform to another being eternally .
Thanks so much! I woke up too early wanting to catch some more sleep so I decided to listen to Thay to smooth the moment with his usual tender, peaceful words. Instead, I found your talk, bringing our dear Thay to my present. I wholeheartedly feel the interconnectedness. I’m so loved, so grateful.
