1969, 55 years ago. Please start from the first song on the first album and just keep going. This way you will experience the songs in the same order we did back then, and you won't miss anything like you would by just doing requests, and trust me, you don't want to! I'm definitely here for it! Master class musicians, all in their early 20's. These are the goats! ☮️
Keep reacting to Led Zeppelin, each song you hear will be your new favorite. Yes they were way ahead of their time, & still great 50 or so years later. Lead singer is Robert Plant, he plays the harmonica too. Jimmy Page is lead guitar, he sometimes uses a violin bow on his guitar. John Paul Jones plays bass keyboards mandolin, he is a classically trained musician. Then there’s John Bonham AKA Bonzo on the drums. They are each the GOAT of their craft, & they are the GODS of Rock Blues & anything in between. Everything you listen to will blow your mind, because they are that great, keep enjoying, because they won’t disappoint you.
@@sicotshit7068 Same here.Bonzo was the man. A friend of mine sent me a vid of him playing with a double bass (before they convinced him to ditch it) It's impressive.
Go down the rabbit hole. They involve so many genres and still have their own unique take and sound. They started out heavy blues rock and their experimentation is amazing. No album or song sounds the same
Robert Plant was the lead singer, John Bonham drummer, Jimmy Page lead guitarist by which all others are measured, and John Paul Jones bass guitar. Greatest band ever. I’m 72 and they still give me goosebumps.
"When the levee breaks" is a cover of a 1927 Mississippi flood. The drum intro is legendary and sampled heavily. "In my time of dying" is amazing as well. BTW in addition to an AMP you should get powered headphones for your guitar so you can play where only you hear it. I suggest Marty Music for lessons on TH-cam.
This came out about 50 years ago. Led Zeppelin are considered royalty of classic Rock. You gotta listen to stairway to heaven. Some consider it to be the best rock song of all time.
Jimmy Page : Guitars - Mandalin, Backing Vocals - Theremin (hard to explain, makes strange whirling noises using electronic signals) Jimmy co-wrote and produced all their music. This is the 1st song off the 2nd album, dropped late 69 and cemented them as the top rock band in the world at that time! Robert Plant : Vocals - Harmonica John Paul Jones - Bass - Keyboards, Piano, Organs, Recorder, Mandalin, Backing Vocals ... JPJ or Jonesy, wrote some of the later music and musically arranged much of their catalogue. John Bonham - Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals (John died suddenly at 32 in late sept 1980, and the band decided to not go on without him!) Jimmy is dragging his guitar pick down the strings (like a slide or a raking motion) to make that sound you're asking about! FYI some of their riffs and drumbeats have been sampled extensively in hip hop music!
Genius level guys…..this is THE rabbit hole you want to go down….trust us old folks round here….keep doing classic rock, please…I think you’ll really love what you find.❤️🎶❤️
Led Zeppelin was created in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page, who also produced all their albums (so, if you like the production, thank Jimmy). He played all guitars and also occasionally (rarely) played mandolin, pedal steel guitar, and banjo. John Paul Jones played bass, all keys, and mandolin. Drummer John Bonham played the most amazing drums, and vocalist Robert Plant also played harmonica. They disbanded in 1980 after the passing of Bonham. You had it exactly correct - Jimmy Page is scratching the pick along the guitar strings. The sounds during the middle breakdown was Jimmy playing an instrument called a Theremin. It creates oscillating tones by moving your hand around an aerial type thing while controlling the pitch with a knob on a console. There's a couple of things to pay attention to on this song besides the use of a Theremin; near the end, when you hear Robert sing "Way down inside, woman, you need it", you hear an echo of the words first and that's because the power of his singing bled onto a track that was being used for one of the instruments and they couldn't remove it in post production (keep in mind, technology was nowhere close to today) so Jimmy and the engineer added reverb and kept it in. Another thing, near the end, you can hear Bonzo (Bonham) yelling out while playing. He said he liked to yell like a bear to give the music a boost, and that he wanted their performance to sound like a thunderstorm. My recommendation for Zeppelin is go in album/track order because if you go by most recommended alone, you'll miss a TON of great music. Also, starting at the beginning gives you their entire musical evolution and you can hear how they change and mature musically over their career. Welcome to the Zep family! 🙂
Thanks for explaining Plant's VERY HAPPY ACCIDENT vocal bleed over; back then, sliders or knobs was all there was to control volume & panning instruments & vocals which didn't prevent hot signal bleed overs. Later, they made the consoles with the ability to turn track channels OFF to prevent anything from being recorded onto them, keeping them clean. 🕊️💖🎵
@@theohioshirey you're very welcome! Jimmy was all for keeping the occasional studio "mistakes" in, whether due to necessity (due to equipment limitations of the time, like this) or intentionally, because he wanted the listeners to feel as if they were in the studio listening to it live.
EACH LP DIFFERENT THAN the ONE BEFORE & ONE TO COME. 🇺🇸 Blues: 1 of their greatest influences; they settled out of court several times🤑 Only other band I know to do that was Beatles.
He slides the guitar pick down the strings while holding the chord to get that sliding sound. Just like you were imitating. Jimmy was pretty much the innovator of that with this song.
Good reaction. Zeppelin are the goats. Every album is a different journey. I would make the suggestion to react to there whole albums starting with the first and going in order. There versatility is un paralleled.
This came out when I was in High School 1969. The weird sound is made with a Theremin, which Jimmy Page, the amazing guitarist also 'plays', They are 2 high frequency oscillators & he moves his hand towards it & then away from it to make those sounds. He is a genius on guitar & Robert Plant is the epitome of a rockstar.
Can't go wrong here. Ty for reaction! Sounds so great because Jimmy Page (the guitarist) produced all their music. He is masterful. So clean or dirty and sonically well-placed. Either cranked or headphones. 😊

Fifty (50) years ago!!! Im 64 yrs old. I listened to these gods at 14, 15 until now!!! I love this band. Check out the sound that you said sounded like a car, it is actually a violin bow. John Bonham is the incredible drummer (no one else can touch him, and of course the base and keyboard player, John Paul Jones, was a studio musician as well, so as far as I know, (Jimmy) took him with him when they began their music with the Yardbirds (another long story). Welcome to Classic Rock. Now do Freebird (Live) by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Enter Sandman (Moscow '91) by Metallica, Dream On by Aerosmith, Comfortably Numb (live Pulse) by Pink Floyd, and The Spirit of Radio by Rush. Very happy you're here.
If ya wanna see/hear the progression/evolution of Led Zeppelin, ya kinda have to react to a few late "Yardbirds"/"New Yardbirds" hits/songs. They were Zeppelin, BEFORE they were Zeppelin . . . . .
Do you introduce some of this music to your friends/acquaintances and do most of them have a positive reaction to it? I've always been curious about that when it comes to some of the reactor video hosts I've seen. Or does your friends and family think you're nuts for listening to this older music? 😆 As I've seen mentioned in a few other comments, start with Zeppelin's debut album, which is in my list of favorite albums by any artist, and take it from there. Zep has too many great songs to list. Same with bands like The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steely Dan, Bad Company, ZZ Top and many others from the late 60's through the 70s. Their complete albums were at times flawless, from start to finish. The deep cuts are as good as the hits.
They were 4 actual musical geniuses that managed to groove together. An *extremely* rare thing.

Same with bands like The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steely Dan, Bad Company, ZZ Top and many others from the late 60's through the 70s. Their complete albums were at times flawless, from start to finish. The deep cuts are as good as the hits.
Great reaction!
A must... kashmir celebration day!
"That sound" is a pick slide with a heavy echo
