Really a great tutorial. One question I have been looking at buying the black versions of the two stalks from the R56 models (can find them on parts stores and eBay). Have you looked into that option and determined if that is an option (the stalks appear to be identical). If that idea doesn't work, this method is a definite for my late 2006 model Cooper S. Thanks!
Hi, the R56 stalks are not an option. There are lots of changes to how they work and the angle is all wrong for the R53. I looked into it, purchased a set and realised that that without drastic cutting and electrical changes there was no way to easily do it. Electronic values from there PCBs are all wrong, angle is wrong, they also don't fit.. they may look similar until you hold a set in your hand and then you'll realise you may as well try and fit BMW stalks as they are very different After the investigation I decided I didn't need the hassle and went down the road of looking at transfers, I drew the icons and tried 4 methods and settled with this dry paint transfer method as the best option

Looking to buy a set of the white international transfers to do my stalks but wondering if you by any chance have also done something similar for the steering wheel control buttons/D-pads as I would like to paint them as well.

Yes, you must. Towards the end of the video is the painting. The transfer is dry paint not a sticker

No plan to sell refurbish commands ?
Possibly in the next few weeks but I've not got the time to do them, however I'm talking with my contacts about them doing sets
