Six is a perfect number as 1*2*3 = 6 and 1+2+3 = 6. Hence it was used for the creation myth as a perfect being would create the world in a perfect number of days.
@@davidkerr4137 Well, the props were wood, and later episodes in the classic series were broadcast when they were becoming less common, such that the writers, directors, and such might be unfamiliar with police boxes that weren't TV props designed to be easily movable. This was even more-so the case with the later series.

You say concrete box - so were they never made of wood?
Yes, mostly made of concrete which explains why they were so hard to demolish!
