I got my Secrid wallet free, due after shipping a problems on their end and they refunded me. It has been great and used it daily for over a year. However recently stores have been requesting my id, and I am well over the age limit. I have ordered another pop-up wallet that has a clear ID sleeve. This makes it easier to flash my ID to them, and be on my way. Good Review, and just a side note your review on the Secrid review help me felt more secure in buying their product in the past.
I’ve been using the secrid slim without the button closure and it’s been awesome. The only issue is the glue that holds the box to the leather came undone but they replaced it.
I also own this wallet Nope no chance in hell. This wallet by double oak is just perfect. I came from the first run Esker leather sleeved. Trust me… purchase confidently My only irk is the back slot I wish had a cut out as I use it for my work badge and it’s difficult for my sausage fingers. But it’s my favourite wallet
Yeah, it definitely looks thicker on camera than it is in person. I have zero issues in terms of bulk. I think it’s very well proportioned. I hope you enjoy the wallet (:
Two points here after watching your video. 1) it seems the overall size is enough to make me think real hard about how that Golden Oak would fit in my front pocket, comfortably. 2) the paper bill storage is nothing I’d want to deal with on a regular basis. It seems that both getting bills into, and out if that sleeve pocket is no fun. I have just ordered two wallets to try - a Belljoy Folio Mini and the Scerid Mini. One if these should solve my issue as I have been using a Taxi wallet for the past 20 years. I enjoy your reviews, well done and honest.
I have both the Secrid and Double Oak wallets and you are ABSOLUTELY correct The footprint of the Double Oak is something you absolutely feel, and it is a LOT heavier too. The cash pocket is annoying to use, particularly with 6+ bills. The cash gets so thick it gets in the way of the spine, and the magnet stops being strong enough to close the wallet... so then you'll have to fold them into thirds. The Secrid wallet is significantly smaller and lighter, and I hardly notice it in the pocket, it's awesome to carry. It feels a lot more usable, way easier to get cards/cash in and out of IMO. With that being said, the Double Oak definitely feels more premium, which you will absolutely notice in-hand (Maybe partly due to its weight). The Secrid wallet does feel cheap in comparison, especially when it comes to its leather to the plastic-ky trigger mechanism. I took a look at the Folio Mini you mentioned and it looks great! Please let me know what you think of it! (especially relative to the Secrid wallet)
@@fleura888 been using the Secrid Mini for a few weeks now and am real pleased with it, overall. Hardly know it is in my front pocket, carries all the cards I need and cash. Also tried Belljoy Mini Folio and sent that back in favor of the Mini. You won’t be disappointed! And, Secrid is made in Europe whereas Double Oak is made in China.
hey buddy, awesome video as always! i've been leaning toward the Secrid Twin for card capacity and your vids have been super helpful. you were swaying me toward Double Oak with this vid and it was interesting to see that the DO and ST are pretty much the same size. my hold off has been the thickness - i carry in my front pant pocket. curious, given these are the same size but the ST has double the card capacity, the layout and features of the DO outweigh capacity for you? cheers!
I appreciate the kind words my friend ! To be honest, I never truly maximized the space for the double card holder on the ST. It's always great to have more room if you need it, but the extra slots in the DO and even the Secrid Mini, have always allowed me the capacity I needed card wise. So I give the slight edge to the DO vs the ST only because it also has two other areas on the wallet for cards you can easily fit another 6 cards outside the aluminum housing in.
@@Joshua88Graham very good point about maximizing...that had crossed my mind as well. after watching your vids a few times i ended up ordering the new DO in Iceburg and Midnight (they were having a 50% off sale)! i'm just hoping it doesn't feel too big in my front pocket. can i ask where you wear yours? thanks again for your response :)
@ thanks. Sry for all these questions but: Iwas asking because on their website it says don’t put ID/keycards ect in the card holder in the bifold suggested use section of the website and I didn’t know if that was because the mechanism doesn’t work with it or not? Is it ok to have those cards in there though? Why would they be against doing that? If u go to the cardholder part of their site it doesn’t mention that thou. So u have been fine putting stuff like that in there? Why avoid metal cards btw? I don’t have any but just curious?
@@Joshua88Graham Ik that was long so short version of that last question: Is it really only for credit cards like the website says? Or can u actually use it on ID, keycards ect?
Hey, I use my id and health cards in it. There’s No problem. In terms of metal cards, they scratch up everything being metal on metal in the pop up holder. You could have metal cards in the leather slots, but the aluminum card holder is where scratching happens
@ Thanks for the info! I really like the design of the wallet and was concerned about it. I wonder why they advise against putting non credit cards in the card holder.
I’m an old guy new to these types of wallets I’m looking to purchase the secrid mini like the one you carried for so long my question is was the 21mm or was a different size
Ahh sorry to hear. I don’t feel the bulkiness at all truly, but everyone is different and I understand the sentiment of minimalism. The cash slot for me I actually enjoy, since it’s totally separate whereas with secrids the moment you open your wallet everything is out to the elements. But again, thanks for sharing your thoughts! It’s important for everyone as all sides should be considered
@@Joshua88Graham man I still really Love the look I think I want to see an extended review after someone uses it for a while to me it still seems like one of the best fits for me. I’m still highly considering grabbing it especially with ur view on it
Currently been using a bellroy slim wallet and it’s a pain to carry a few bills and often slips out my pocket without notice. Maybe the extra thickness will help with almost losing my wallet often
When will you do a magsafe review of this wallet compared to others like the ridge magsafe and the fantom magsafe? I want to buy a new wallet add on to my phone soon.
oof I don't like how tight of a fit that cash pocket is. I wouldn't put cash there. Think i'll still go with the secrid mini, if only it had the button on the side rather than on the face.
Not a fan of folding bills requirement on wallets. Way too cumbersome during fast transactions. Seeing i mostly gone all digital (still have bills and cards for places that don't accept mobile pay). Best wallet in terms of functionality for me is the slimfold micro
This wallet is too thick and the extra leather adds little to its function. I love the lock capability and the quality of the leather. I recommend getting the slim version from double oak to avoid the bifold thickness. Put your cash bill folded in the single pocket from the slim. You’ll thank me!
Forgot to mention the casing does not fall off easily from the leather casing. And the card lock on this wallet makes it the only real solution for metal cards.
After watching this, I still think I’d 100% prefer my Secrid.. that one looks nice, it’s just really big. You showed it with it empty but once you add 8 cards worth and cash, it’s now like an inch thick! I loved the Secrid wallet that is leather, has one of the card holders, and then is a trifold so you can put cash in there.. I carried that for a year or more and recently I switched to the Secrid wallet with the same design, but it has a elestic strap that holds it closed and it made of a high end plastic or something.. and I love it! I think I might prefer the leather.. but still, the design of this wallet looks nice and premium.. but the Secrid is wayyyy more functional.. it’s like half the size, holds like 12 cards easily and folds open to hold your cash without it being all tucked into a hard to reach slot like this wallet is.. I can’t imagine how annoying it would be to have to shove cash in a little pocket and have to dig it out.. Secrid has a ln open area so you can see all the cash and can pull out just one bill at a time if you wanted to

Does the aluminum housing fall out easily from the leather wallet for the new Oak wallet?
Thus far I have had no issues with the aluminum housing slipping out. Everything fits pretty snug

Just got my Double Oak Essentials Wallet Legacy Edition and it really does look thick on camera, in my hands it reasonably sized for what it is.
Yeah, it definitely looks thicker on camera than it is in person. I have zero issues in terms of bulk. I think it’s very well proportioned. I hope you enjoy the wallet (:
